You mean...there are others??? The fate of the Dolphins doesn't rest in the hands on one college kid??? :sidelol:

This is just a taste of Matt Barkley. Only 4 of his games, pocket throws of intermediate depth (23 to 39 yards).

I'd really like to see a little more of Tannehill I think he'll be our guy much lower than we're expecting.

Attitude and performance are a reflection of leadership and that leadership MUST come from the top. I agree that you want the best, but the best that you, me and anyone should want and vest all of our interest in is the head coach of the team.

A great head coach can make average players good and good players great. Alex Smith is having a Pro Bowl year in San Francisco and he owes it all to the tutilege he's received from new head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Whether or not Luck, Jones, Barkley, Weeden, etc have successful careers in the NFL will all depend on who their coach(es) is(are).

Henne will never be more than an average QB, even though he possessed all the gifts to be a phenominal QB. This is due to the poor coaching he received upon being drafted by Miami and unfortuantely, he''s probably too set in his ways now to be re-taught. Not every QB can be a Vinny Testaverde and shine under the right coach after being on the league for so long under poor coaching.

If any of these kids are drafted by a team with mediocre to average coaching, they'll fall by the weyside. If they are drafted by a team with coaches that know how to groom and mentor QB's, such as San Diego (Phillip Rivers) or Green Bay (Aaron Rodgers), regardless if his name is Weeden or Barkley, they'll be sucesses. If they go to teams that fail in QB development such as Oakland (Russell and a SLEW of names) or Cleveland (Quinn), regardless if his name is Luck or Jones, they'll fail miserably.

You want the best? So do I. But the best has to start at the head coaching postion. If that postion is locked in, EVERYTHING else falls into place.

I'll take Weeden or Tannehill, please. I'll take Jones as a third option. I want nothing to do with Matt Barkley.

We will, of course, select Barkley.

    :confused2:

I just know what my ledership style was when I was in the Army. I demanded perfection. I settled for nothing less. I motivated my soldiers to strive for more. When they did welll I praised them...when they screwed up, I was in their a$$e$ until they got it right and dared them to screw up again.

I set the task, condictions and standards and never settled for less.

That's what's been lacking on our team. "Yea, these guys played so hard today. I'm really happy with them, they played their hearts out"

Really?? All those players are going "whew...thank God he's not going to run suicides on us until we puke"

Attitude and performance.....it ALWAYS starts at the top.

It Will not one of these other QB's are a sure fire Franchise QB in the NFL. Luck is being mentioned as Peyton Manning because he's already considered by EVERYONE except Phil Simms to be the bread and butter. All the other QB's have questions marks and the money they will demand might not be worth it for a team to rebuild.

Lets just trade out of the pick and grab a Mid level #1 A 2 and a 3rd and build around a free agent QB were going to have to get.

Great, so we can continue building and rebuilding an offensive line to protect someone not worth protecting!

Sorry, I had to vent that sarcasm somehow.

I can easily see Barkley out of range and even Landry Jones taken so at that point Tannehill and Weeden become possibilities. I see Tannehill being the guy since he's a little bit more of a traditional offense QB. I like him, he needs to read the field faster and progress as a quarterback but that comes with time and work at QB. I can see Miami trading down, grabbing him, and grabbing Peyton Manning if he's let go.

No worries. I want a QB badly, too. I just don't think Matt Barkley is first round material, let alone franchise material. I know I'm in a minority of one here, so the crucification squad will likely assault me any minute now.

Barkley hasn't even decided if he's leaving school.

All sources say he's leaning to staying for another year. He will make final decision at end of season....

he probably will not be in this year's draft. so you're talking about really reaching for a QB just because we missed out on Luck and "need" a QB with our high draft pick.

Have not heard any reports that corroborate this. Only reports I've heard quote him as saying that A) He's undecided, B) It depends on how he finishes the year (12 TDs and 2 INTs over the last 3 games), and C) He wants the decision to be easy (i.e. he's considered to definitely be a top 5 or top 10 pick).

Thing is, ultimately, what would Barkley stay for? USC can't win anything next year on probation, not even the Joe's Stone Crab Bowl, presented by AT&T. Maybe to be a slightly higher pick in the '13 draft, but is it really worth waiting?

How about Peyton Manning? Dead serious!

Colts will either trade the pick or release Peyton. There's no point in paying Peyton a $28MM fee in February so that he comes back pissed off with no talent around him. I think they will trade the pick. But if they don't then Peyton becomes a real possibility. Imagine drafting Justin Blackmon to put opposite Marshall with Peyton at QB!

If it were a couple years ago and we knew that Luck was going to get this outrageous contract then I would have to agree with you. With the new set contract caps though I think it gives teams that opportunity to take an "expensive" player and let them sit and learn.

Peyton had an investigational treatment that he had to go to Europe for. The guy had stem cells injected into a nerve in his neck. This is the same kind of treatment that we have heard claimed could repair heart damage, brain damage, yet we have no such treatment available approved by the FDA, not that they aren't as crooked used car salesman. I just think there is a HUGE possibility that Peyton never plays again, or even if he does play he will never be the same QB he was.

Colts take Luck if they get the pick.

The thing is though, they play the Jags and the Titans a few more games, I think they have a possibility of winning one of those games or hopefully a couple.

I agree with your reasoning. Let's say he comes out and goes in the Top 5 this year. He's not going to start having regrets on account of the possibility of going #1 overall in 2013 because the difference between what he'll get as a Top 5 pick in 2012 and what he'll get as a #1 overall is not really that much, and arguably not worth the risk of going back and getting hurt or having something else happen that hurts your draft stock.

Actually, he'd get paid more as a #5 pick this year than a #1 pick next b/c he'd have 1 extra year of salary (and he'd be one year closer to a potentially bigger FA deal).

Thing with Barkley, USC is on sanctions, there is little reason to stay other then to win a hollow PAC 27 title with no bowl bid stacked up against millions or injuries, that would not make much sense.

    Medicore for Matt?

    Not Tryin' for Ryan?

    Win 3 for RG3?

I'm real high on Barkley. I like his intangibles and his accuracy. The game is a gamer. Went toe to toe with Luck the other week, and only lost because his teammate fumbled in OT. That guy can play. I would absolutely take him if we couldn't get Luck.
