The season's over. Colts are losing and quitting on purpose.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that likes Jones

Our chance at Luck is probably over.
Now we will have to settle for yet another mediocre (compared to Luck) QB.

Not really. Indy could still shop the pick and we could over the deal of deals to land the pick.

The question is, how much of the farm do we want to give up? Look at what the Falcons gave up this year to get Jones. Would we be willing to give more than that to Indy to get the #1 pick? I would think for them they would jump all over it. More picks, more players, more holes filled.

Dolphins aren't willing to do it. Just forgot it. The only teams that might be interested in trading up is the Broncos, obviously, and the Browns.

While I really want Luck, I'd have hope that the 2nd or 3rd prospect could be great too. Guys like Brady, Rodgers, Marino, Montana, Favre, etc were not selected first. We'll see. Look at Cam Newton and Andy Dalton playing great football, and people hated on them. (I know Cam was first, but many thought he would end up like Matt Leinart and the Panthers were doomed when Luck went back to school).

Weeden is not the fix for this team. We need someone who can be here for 10+ years sorry were not in the Weeden sweepstakes.

We need to tank and FAST!

That's dumb. Firstly, the QB isn't the fix for this team. Fixing THE TEAM & coaching staff is the fix for this team. QB play is one component of that.

Secondly, the greatest potential to win a SB trumps how long a guy will be in the league. "Oh no, we can't take a guy who might carry us to multiple SBs because he'll have a shorter career."

Thirdly, well that's just too obvious to mention.

If you leave out Weeden and insert one of the top QBs of each year, you could have made this statement, verbatim, for the last 5-8 yrs... I thought that was what the Tuna was supposed to do in 2007 ??

Well... the problem with that is that we thought we were getting The Tuna. But what we really got was an octopus who had tentacles in everything, everyone's attention, and when the going got tough, he shot some hide-me dye out his scoot chute and got the flock out of Dodge!

Weeden is already 28 years old and will be 29 years old early in the 2012 season. The Dolphins are still a long way from being a good team in the NFL and by the time they get there, Weeden will be in his 30's. I also don't think he is going to be anything but a mediocre QB at the pro level. He was an outstanding baseball player at the amateur level but never had the skills at the professional level. I think this will prove to be true once he reaches the NFL. I would prefer the Dolphins draft Kellen Moore over Branden Weeden.

Weeden reminds me a great deal of Chris Weinke. Weinke was a Heisman winner at FSU who played professional baseball for a few years before deciding to play college football at FSU. He was a great college QB who was also 28 years old when he entered the NFL. Weinke was never more than a journeyman QB in the NFL. This is exactly what I expect Weeden will be once he starts playing in the NFL.

Since getting Luck is now not going to be possible, I would like to see the Dolphins draft, Jones, Barkley, or Griffin, in that order. If none of these are available when they select, the Dolphins should select Moore, who I think could end up being the next Drew Brees.

Why would the Browns? They have their QB in McCoy.

Why do you think Miami wouldn't trade up to get Luck? If Indy is dealing, or listening, then we are talking and offering.

Garbage win :P at less we won't go 0-fer for a year.

Anyway, we're not out yet. WAS is our last "winnable" game IMO. After that we've essentially got the AFC East who are all playing for the #1 seed.....so they'll bring it every week. Indy has 3 winnable games on here schedule. If we lose out, we could still land Luck. Depending on SOS :)

Have you watched McCoy play recently?

That drive against the Fins was the high point of his season. all downhill from there

Yeah, but the talent around him is horrible. They are trotting out there 4th and 5th string RB's....guys who wouldn't make most rosters. Their WR's are meh. Cribbs is their only true weapon and he isn't an every down player on offense. Watson is the best athlete on the team at TE, but he can only do so much.

They have tons of draft picks to build this team around McCoy. Get some better talent around him and then they can make some things happen. He is running for his life right now.

We'll see. They have nice ammo with 2 first rounders (although Atlanta's will be pretty late) to make a move up, even if it's for one of the other guys.

Sorry, not interested in a 28 year old rookie. 5-7 quality years out of a rookie? You should be getting 10-13 if the guy turns into a franchise QB. Give me Jones, Barkley, or Griffin.

How in the heck can you say this with a straight face?

We don't even know what Dolphins management will look like next season!!

Except if those 5-7-8 seasons might possibly be better than any one season that the other 3 ever have. Weeden is ready to start imo, and of the other 3, the only one I'd say is that ready would be Jones.

If they need to be developed for lets say 3 seasons. Then he'll only have a 9 or maybe a 10 year career anyway...
