Well, we just suck now and will probably fall out of the top 4 picks.

Looking at PhinsRDBest's profile is odd...

just a few weeks ago, he had Bill Cowher and Andrew Luck in our sights......

now......? Fisher and Landry Jones I guess?

We still suck. The Redskins suck just as bad.

I don't see us winning more than 4 games. I still think we "earn" a top 3 draft pick.

With some of the suck teams in this league this year, I don't think 4 games puts us in top 3... probably pretty close to 5. Not that that's world ending. I don't think we're a 4 win team, but who knows

I think we'll see the Dolphins trade a **** ton of picks to be in the Top 2/3, if they don't end up there because of records.

Mediocrity? Give me a freaking break. We are 2-7 and have the 31st best record in the NFL.

We have had a #2 overall and a #1 overall in the past 5 years. Your argument carries zero weight . You must be confusing this team with mid 90 Marino years or Fiedler days.

When I say "mired in mediocrity," I refer to the last decade, not the last nine games. Heck, we've been a 7-9 team the last two years; that alone should have prevented you from replying to me. No weight? No way.

We have had a #2 overall and #1 overall in the past five years. The assertion is that the Dolphins are too mediocre to draft the Franchise Savior and Greatest QB of all time, thus we are doomed for failure.

It's a ridiculous position to take. We have had very high draft picks and it hasn't meant squat to this team. To find another reason to bash this team for not sucking enough after what we've been through the past five years is pretty funny if you ask me.

The sky isn't falling because we won a game and are suddenly too mediocre (at 2-7, I thought a proper definition of mediocre would be 4-5).

But good attempt to pin this on Wanny and Spielman.. Who stopped being relevant in 2005.

It's a factual position to take. We've played out of Andrew Luck range, and if it keeps up, we'll be out of Matt Barkley range. Pretty soon we're going to start talking about whether or not it's worth taking Brandon Weeden with our first round pick, or trading up from our second round pick to grab him. And there's already some Ryan Tannehill talk on the periphery of the forums.

There's nothing ridiculous about pointing out that this has been a mediocre team. Take away the bipolar 1-15/11-5 seasons and you get… 9-7, 6-10, 7-9, 7-9. Looks pretty mediocre to me.

But by all means, continue to argue over, of all things, word choice. If I had said "terrible," would this conversation even be happening? Because terrible works too.

Well, I can understand it, buy in that this is a Qb league, and any price for a Qb is not to high to pay.

I prefer the hollistic approach of we need pieces all over the place, adding a Qb to a bad team just means you are a bad team with a young Qb, I'd like to see a ballhawking FS added, some pieces on offense, RT/Te come to mind, Wr wouldn't hurt, as if we are winning with Hartline having 2 catches for short gains, that tells us something about Hartline.

OLB would also be nice as Koa apparently is a decent all around Sam, but not a playmaking Sam, we need a Kerrigan not another Trusnik.

How the hell is Andrew Luck relevant to anything that has happened to ANY team other than what is happening this year? We didn't play ourselves out of Luck. In most other years we would be a shoe-in for the #1 or #2 pick this year. Are you going to continue to make a completely illogical argument because you're upset we aren't 0-10 like Indy?

Better yet, has Indy been mired in being terrible for the past decade and earned the #1 overall / Luck? Using your logic their draft status is directly proportional to their last decade of play

For a coaching staff that will drop the "play not to lose" mentality and bring in a killer attitude who will run up the score if possible.

And a QB who is not bad to average like we've had since 2000 (or injury prone like Pennington).

Even though we are still far, far more likely to get the first pick than we are to get to the playoffs, or even second place in the division, we aren't sucking for anything now. We are meandering for mediocrity.

Who are they going to suck for isn't as important as who'll be picking players. Anyone can pick Andrew Luck. What I'm hoping is the rest of the season doesn't become false evidence of the team's improvement. They need someone who's going to find an elite QB amongst the dregs of what's left, and Ireland hasn't shown me he knows how to find a QB, especially after not getting Ryan Mallett.

Yep, people do not realize how crappy most of the NFL is right now, 1/3 of the teams have 3 wins or less, have to figure a couple of teams will get hot, but still the Top 8 could have 3 and 4 win teams if we win 5 games which is very possible, we pick 11th or 12th.

Now, no one has talked about it, but this will be one of the better FA Qb classes in yrs, guys like Garrard and Young and maybe Alex Smith will be on the market, I'd prefer to draft a Qb high, but if that is not possible then there are decent plan B FA options this offseason.

Would be nice, also a playmaking FS or OLB would fit immediate needs, unless Koa Misi blossoms in the final 7 games.

Honestly if we wind up missing on all of the top tier Qb talent in the next draft this season is just a disaster. I am not rooting for us to lose but we cannot possibly go into the next football season with Sparano as coach, Ireland as GM and Moore/Henne or something similar......I mean we just can't.

Yep, We are going to play ourselves right out of a shot at a good QB. This team is going to have to pony up some draft picks to trade up in the draft. It will be a disaster if come out of the draft next year without a legitimate QB prospect.

I hate losing, but I can't tell if I'm happy or sad at the moment.

These are exactly my thoughts. If this team rallies to finish the season strong, then what? Does Ross decide to give Saparano and company "one more year" to turn things around? Do we continue to draft lineman high and pin our hopes to journeymen QB's like Moore? You know, the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting a different outcome. And, this team is driving me crazy! This is a big reason why I had hoped Sparano was canned after 0-4, 0-5, 0-6.

    JMHO...

Both of those guys had pre-draft concerns that dropped their stock. Marino had cocaine rumors ala Ryan Mallett, Rodgers was the latest QB from an offense that had turned out a bunch of draft busts.

Playing the result is pretty intellectually dishonest.

We can't count on someone slipping, I think thats pretty much what we did this past draft. We thought Locker or Ponder would drop and we'd be sitting pretty, instead we watched other teams draft their franchise Qbs while we got our "franchise" center/Guard. Thats why we stink on Sundays.

Terrible organization that once again doesn't know what to do. Look at Indy. There 0-10 they have tanked it and the owner is ok with it. Hes a winner he knows what Payton manning meant to this team and was the reason that they won a Superbowl, and are consistently a top 5 team in the NFL. That sells merchandise, builds fans and translates into money in the owners pocket.

Payton is on the last leg of his career and if they have to suck for one year to ensure they will be set once again for 10-15 years barring injury than so be it. I'd take 1-2 ****ty seasons to ensure 30 years of greatness! The way this team does things is so short sighted. Whats the point of a 4-12 season? What respect does that bring the players? What security does that bring Sparano? How does that help sell tickets, Jerseys, and build your fanbase? At this point we have endured 7 or more seasons under .500 since Shula left. We have been to playoffs I believe twice maybe three times and out within a week or two. All because we didn't do what was needed and that is fill the most important position on the team with a quality NFL quarterback. Not a journeyman, or undrafted project, but a top rated, scouted, Quarterback.

The Leader of the team has to have tenacity, somewhat cocky, and has to be mental capacity to run the show. Pennington was the closest we got since Marino and on a team that lacked talent his ability to control the offense resulted in us winning more games than we should have.

So tell me how going 4-12 Helps ANYONE on this team next year? Sparano will be gone, half the players will be gone, the coaches will be gone, and the team will place just out of reach of the 1 or two sure fire Quarterbacks that could change this teams future. They will have to reach once again at a project and hope and I mean HOPE the # 5-6 pick in the NFL will result in some kinda of magical pixie dust to get one.

So yeah blame the fans for seeing what the entire fanbase sees. Lets root for these losers, so they can all leave and secure us the #5 pick in the draft. Remember the Fans are the ones stuck with this pile of crap. The Players move on, get paid, and live their lives. We however watch history repeat over and over again.

So whats so wrong with sucking for one more year and fixing the issue? Yea us fans are the problem, shame on us..

I was never on the suck train for anyone....always thought it was malarkey. I don't like finishing 7-9 anymore than the next fan but playing like we did the first 7 games was just horrible!! I would love to pick up a quality qb prospect in the draft next year but if it doesn't happen it isn't the end of the world. I'm one of the few that still has faith in Henne. He showed a lot of improvement this year and if the rest of the team would do their job we can easily be a winning team with him at qb. The Jets are a perfect example of that....Sanchez is garbage and they still win. I can sit here and honestly say that what I saw in Henne this year is enough to show me that he not only wants to win but can be a leader and get us wins. However, if the rest of the team plays like **** and doesn't do their job than it doesn't matter who's at qb we still won't win games. Our OL better be upgraded next year or whoever is playing qb isn't gonna do much better than the past few guys have

I don't know about that one. I have this odd feeling that Brandon Weeden will be the next one. A natural gifted quarterback that simply has it all and will beat a top defense (LSU or come close) that slips simply because of age concerns. Something tells me he is going to be Miami's guy perhaps in the late first.

Weeden is too old to draft in the first round.. 28-29 years old starting as a rookie! No father time isn't on his side for injuries and more.. We need a younger QB if were drafting one for the future.

I think it's fairly priced. A ten year guy instead of a fifteen year guy. A top pick is worth a certain amount, take off whatever you feel is appropriate for 2/3s the tenure and you have your value.

I could care less he's a rookie. He's a better quarterback than Andy Dalton, has less experience playing than Dalton, and nobody would question taking Dalton late first round anymore. The guy is tearing it up and he's a much better quarterback than the other guys in his range.
