More pissed than when Pat White was drafted? Really? Bit of a stretch there. I don't think there's a single person on this forum who wouldn't trade an entire draft for someone who could potentiallly turn out to be the next Peyton Manning.
No direct correlation with any of these examples. Staubach was a backup his first two years in the league. Weeden won't be afforded that luxury. Neither will Weeden be afforded the luxury of sticking around if he plays like Staubach did in 4 of his first 6 seasons with QB rating of 69.5, 42.9, 20.4 and 68.4 in which he had a combined 17 TD passes and 27 Interceptions. Can't imagine a coaching staff hoping Weeden will blossom at the tender age of 35. Jim Kelly played 2 years in the USFL in addition to college. Kurt Warner played 4 years in the Arena League which he gave tremendous credit to for him developing into the QB he was when got the NFL. Warren Moon played 6 years in the CFL. His first year in the CFL he was pretty bad. Reality is there are NO good example of a QB that finished his college career at the prime age of 28 (29 a month into rookie season) and went on to have a successful NFL career. Not saying Weeden doesn't have a chance to be successful, but not realistic examples given. Can't imagine a new GM and/or HC spending a top 10 pick on an old man at the QB position when this team is obviously still in rebuilding mode given the lack of talent at several positions. Given that Weeden is throwing to group of WRs in college that is probably better than Miami currently has in addition to his age I can't imagine a new regime would risk anything higher than a 2nd round pick on him.
At least you and I agree on Barkely and the reason. I've not been impressed with the QB's coming out of USC
Are you guys not watching this USC vs Oregon game? He is lighting it UP. I don't understand the camp that think oh since Sanchez, Booty, and Leinart went to USC can't draft a USC QB. Barkley is legit.
Barkley has nothing in common with those QB's. This thought process is completely laughable. Poor, poor, poor logic to say the least.
So when can we expect you to hold Landry Jones to the same standards as other QB's for losing games with a MUCH more talented team than Stanford?
Hmm interesting. I guess if we fall far enough down the draft board that Luck and Barkley are not options then maybe signing him and drafting another prospect isn't a bad ideal. Have to wonder how much it would take to sign him, if it turns into a bidding war it doesn't seem worth it.
I don't see how any of that means there's no correlation. The whole point is that some are questioning whether drafting an older QB can be good move. Those are multiple examples of older QBs who came in played for significant years and turned around franchises. The bottom line is that if Weedon is a franchise QB then he would be a good pick-up despite the age.
now you are speaking my Langauge . I might be tempted to tradedown five spots take Blackmon and with a extra pick take a right tackle and a cb or even a tightend but the question is , are there any tightends in this draft of 2nd or 3 rd round material ?
