Thanks for that Alen. Awesome. Nice to see footage of him so young. He really is one of the best to play the game. The only thing that saddens me is that he wasn't with Italy in 2006, because we asked him to come. He deserves a WC, but then again, so many great players do too. Take a look at the next generation Maldini....
British football just lost one of the greatest players to play in the Premier League in Gary Speed today, who was currently coaching the Wales national side. At 42, he committed suicide at his home, leaving behind his wife and two kids. Speed was probably the most consistent player I have ever seen play the game, certainly to ever put on a Newcastle shirt. Extremely sad day.
Damn, I hate hearing things like that. I wonder what pushed him over the edge. Sad day indeed. To add to sad times in football, Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez and wife Silvia Martinez were taking a walk outside when two men on a motorcycle stopped and threw acid on Oscar's wife leaving burns on 25% of her body including arms and face. F'n terrible and hope karma bites those guys in the arse twice as hard. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/28112011/58/world-football-uruguay-coach-wife-acid-attack.html
Euro 2012 draw: Group A - Poland, Greece, Russia, Czech Republic Group B - Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Portugal Group C - Spain, Italy, Ireland, Croatia Group D - Ukraine, Sweden, France, England Group B is going to be extremely fun to watch. Though as a fan of Germany, I suspect it will be more nail-biting for me even though I expect us to make it out of this group alive.
I have to say my England side got off extremely lucky with Group D. If they can't advance out of that group, Capello shouldn't bother returning to England. Group B is the group of death... but C isn't far behind. Italy and Spain. It's the first match of that group. I hope both sides take it seriously.
sucks to be a PL team with that draw. Anyone see that reverse Scorpion own goalazo over the weekend? Haha, awesome.
And crazy that now he's kicking *** at Sporting.... scoring goals even! Also, I know we have gunner fans in here. You guys here Henry might be coming back for a one-monther? Allegedly. Up top with RVP? Sounds delicious!
I didn't want to start a new thread for this but there are rumblings that Steve Ross is interested in buying Everton. Is there any truth to this rumour?
Don't really know what to think mate. I haven't watched him in the MLS. How's he looked? Still got the touch?
Like Del Piero? Several MLS teams reaching out to him, allegedly. Montreal Impact the latest. I'd say he does - he almost won the golden boot in the MLS last year. I think he scored 14-15 goals, and it's not that much easier to score in the MLS versus PL. (The leading goal scorer in the entire league only had 16 goals, for point of reference) * And I hope Ross isn't buying Everton. If so that club can kiss the premiership goodbye.
Absolutely Del Piero as well. Mind you, he isn't exactly in his prime, nor was he forced to leave during it. Personal bias here perhaps, but an honest question. Do any of you see CR7 scoring the same amount of goals in the Serie A?
Isn't Del Piero like 52 now? I do not see CR7 dropping the insane goal totals in Serie A. Serie A typically has better defending than La Liga, no?
So Luis Suarez has been punished for allegedly hurling racial slurs at Evra... he is going to be out 8... E-I-G-H-T games! wow... one man's word against another, there were no witnesses that heard the alleged "attack". Sorry... the punishment (even if true) does in no way fit the crime. You don't think Suarez has been called a "slur" in his time in the BPL? I mean, if what Suarez called Evra is the term "negro"... I don't understand the problem... negro in Spanish means black. I'm obviously biased here... and I'm trying to remove myself from the situation and remain impartial. But I can't imagine LFC finishing better than 8th now. When we had a legit shot at finishing in the top 4. Even with the underrated Lucas out the season. But you take our best player away... I don't see how we score. Couldn't score much anyway with him in there.
^I am sure Simon with chime in from LFC side of things...(Paul didnt know you were a liverpool lad)...but it is what it is. P.S. My Wild Rovers are embarrassing themselves as Venky's and especially Kean dont seem to have a plan or clue and its harming the good name of Blackburn. A change at the top must come soon..... .....why are the Miami Dolphins and the Blackburn Rovers seemingly twins separated at birth with their ownership and HC/Manager scenarios lately? One of only a few to take the PL title many decades ago from Blackburn side, and once a proud and dynastic NFL Superbowl winner many decades ago from Miami's side of things. My heart aches twice as much. Uggghhhhh, I sure know how to pick em! Come on boys, get it together!
That was the point I was eluding to. Regarding Suarez, he is simply being used to set an example that racism, whether there were any comments or not, will not be tolerated in any way.
I think Suarez' suspension is a little heavy. Isn't it a first offense? Especially since it's one man's word versus another. And I don't even like Liverpool Kean has lost the lockerroom IMO. That's the worst thing that can happen for a coach. Death knell
That's entirely a problem... so, it's one man's word vs anothers... and if one man claiims racism, the FA are going to hand down punishment no matter what. I can see the accusations piling up as we speak.
They issued such a strict warning to set a precedent. However, be assured that when this gets appealed and the accusation cannot be substantiated, the penalty will be decreased. BUT, the world still knows the consequences of such actions due to the initial and harsh fine and suspension, something I believe was their intent to establish all along. I do agree though, that if unsubstantiated, this is crazy and utterly f'n BS to suspend a player 8 games for a he said she said case.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...-games-following-Patrice-Evra-racism-row.html If this information is true, I agree that in many countries of Latin America the word "Negro" is not used in a derogatory manner nor to insult someone, (actually is a way to call someone who's dear to you) but SuĂ¡rez had to have more common sense especially if you're not in your home country IMO.
Did anyone see the game between Ajax & AZ? A crazy fan ran out onto the field and kicked the AZ keeper. the AZ keeper retaliates by kicking the fan several times. The AZ keeper gets a red card, pushing & shoving ensues, and finally the AZ manager pulls his players from the field. Today they announced the red card is rescinded, but still ..... crazy stuff! I think there's video on youtube, but it's blocked for me
this is the after effects... its the only vid I can find on youtube not taken down already... thats crazy ****
Cant explain it....while Kean was on the ledge of ledges, he gets all the support from his Managing Peers, and then goes out and sees Blackburn grab 3pts from ManU 3-2. This following the 1pt draw vs. Liverpool too. 4pts in last two matches.....of course, not far removed from 0pts vs the likes of Bolton, West Brom, and Sunderland. wow....just flabbergasted! Venky's better step up......or sell.........but Kean and whether the locker room is lost sure is up for debate. I just cant figure this roster out. Happy New Year indeed!
