There's a major flaw with your Madden based logic. The real NFL isn't Madden. Please learn the difference.

its apparent that not only are there anti madden people, but there's also anti doing whatever it takes to win people. who cares about madden? i regret putting that in the original post. if you don't like a winning strategy in that scenario, just say so. don't blame it on madden. lol

The OP shouldn't have mentioned Madden, because it has people not really seeing the premise of what he is saying. Regardless of Madden, once the Boys were in chip shot FG range, the odds, although still low, would have been better to let them score a TD, and get the ball back with a minute and 30 seconds or thereabouts, and try to score one ourselves, rather than letting them run the clock down to 3 seconds and kicking a FG that was essentially from PAT distance. The odds of us scoring a TD would have been low, but a damned site better odds than Dallas missing that kick.

That's what the OP is saying. And he is right. People should see that and forget the Madden part.

Now had THAT been said, I might have actually agreed with the entire premise. I suppose the moment I saw the "when I'm playing Madden" I just went into overdrive on my reaction.

I do recall seeing a game with Jacksonville once...can't remember who they were playing...whether the allowed the opposition to score or were allowed to score, but essentially, the same scenario..."A" team was allowed to score so the opposing team could get the ball back and try to go ahead. If memory serves me (which to this point it's not), that didn't work out too well for the losing team.

If the game has been that close, unless it's an offensive shootout, your offense doesn't have enough explosiveness to pull it out. Had Miami allowed Dallas to score the TD, we would have been down 24-19. We would have been forced to go the length of the field with minimal time and a defense that had been keeping us in check pretty much throughout the game. I don't think we would have been able to punch it in.

When our defense failed to stop Dallas on the other side of the 50, we were done.

As another poster said, once they were in field goal range we should have sent an all out blitz. If we get to Romo we knock them out of field goal range or possibly cause a fumble. If not they score and we get the ball back with plenty of time to drive the field to win the game.

Believe it or not, I was saying this as well. Anything can happen on a FG attempt (botched snap, kicker muffs, etc.) but with the way this rookie had been kicking so far this year, I would have let them score. Nothing saying we couldn't have marched down the field in 2 minutes to score.

Whoa. I don't see that. They were already inside the 30. The defense already failed. This has nothing to do with not having faith in the defense. At that point, it's under a 45 yard FG quickly approaching one in the 30-40 yard range. It's harder to miss those for a professional kicker. You let them score and give the whole team the best chance to win.

It was Westbrook for the Eagles about 5 years ago. He broke a big run and just dropped down at the 2 yard line when there wasn't a guy around him to tackle him.
