The Cubs would trade Samardzija for Gaby Sanchez in a heart beat, that wouldn't be a smart deal on the Marlins part as Sanchez has way more value than Samardzija.

 

Bronson Arroyo for Wily Mo Pena? David Murphy, Engel Beltre and Kason Gabbard for Eric Gagne? Bad trades happen sometimes when Theo is involved. But if either of those proposed deals happened the Cubs wouldn't be the ones on the losing end.

Rumor is that one deal they have worked out would pay for first 4 years of Pujols deal, and that is why they could care less about adding money and years to the Pujols deal.

 

Wonder if Rays can convince the Fish to take Wade Davis or Jeff Niemann for Gaby. Niemann could be a nice fit with a pitchers park.

Thats correct! I herd one rumor saying that the rumored deals can pay for both the Ramerez and Pujols contracts and that is why they still went ahead and offered deals to two pitchers.
