You're going to tell me, the colts never thought to themselves that peyton is getting older, and they should at least have a back up who can carry them a couple of games? I don't buy that for one second.

Some things that mystify me when people look at this situation.

If Peyton Manning is allowed to walk, or be traded, it's because the Colts don't think he's the best QB moving forward, or he's hurt. Why do we want that? Is Peyton Manning worth investigating? Absolutely. However, you've got to look at some real concerns with him. He's 36, coming off spinal fusion. That's insane! He's no longer throwing in a dome 8 times a year with no wind, but he'll be playing 14 games in weather with windy conditions and the such next year. Peyton never had the best arm in the world to begin with. Now, he's coming off this injury, with some arm strength loss no doubt, and we make it tougher?

I dunno. I love the name. I'm sure I'd be sky high before the season, but for the team moving forward with that risk, I just don't know if he's worth it.

If he does become a free agent, you gotta think, that he's gotta think, that he needs to sign a fair deal considering his injury..if hes askin for 20 mill a year he can go screw himself, he essentially needs to look at this as a rebirth, and not hold the team that he does want to play for, hostage..

Hes not going to go to a team that he doesn't want to go to, so he might be understanding to the circumstances, and sign a contract that has certain clauses in it.

I was going to say there is no way the Colts would trade him inside the division. Similar to Marshall Faulk... then I realized it wasn't the 1990's anymore :)

I loved the old Dolphins Colts games when they were in the AFCE :)

He will go anywhere with decent talent and no offensive coach interference. This kills sf chances but makes Miami the perfect fit. I can see it now. Tony I will give you a raise if you just shut up and pump your fist.

The way I understand Manning's contract is structured so that he gets his 28 million dollar bonus before the league year starts,(unless he agrees to delay the payment date). The Colts can't trade him until the bonus is paid. They can release him. Even if he is healthy the Colts hand will be forced. I bet they release him.

my conviction about this is low, I'am really just hoping that Luck will not wanna go there and be part of replacing him when he didn't want to be replaced.

If Manning were a couple of years younger and wasn't coming off three neck operations, I would love to see him in Miami. Unfortunately it is going to cost at least one top draft pick and possibly two high picks to get him in a trade. That is way too much for the Dolphins to give up for a QB who has had the severe injury Manning is trying to recover from.

I also don't think Manning would be interested in coming to play in Miami. I think he would be more interested in going to a team which is only a top QB from being a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
As much as I would hate to see it, especially if Manning is able to come back and play at or near the level he did before his injury, but I would not be the least bit surprised to see Manning as the QB of the New York Jets next season.

The Colts have to decide in early March whether to pay Peyton Manning a $28 million option bonus that activates the final four years of his five-year, $90 million contract. If they don’t, the NFL’s only four-time MVP becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Quoted because too many people seem to ignore this fact! I know there's a risk when talking about Manning's neck... but contract clauses are there for a reason.
