Lol at the thought of the Heat stealing players when they got those players in FREE agency. Stealing is conspiring with an unhappy superstar to force a trade to your team, or in the Nuggets case, committing highway robbery by trading an overrated empty stats "superstar" for every single decent player on one team and becoming much, much better because of it.
Something the Heat could have done but they decided to take a chance and wait it out for free agency. Then they tried to help the team they stole from afterwards...lol
so sad. You don't even know your own teams history. I can't find one single Lakers championship that wasn't gained from free agency and highway robbery trades. Here, let me educate you on your teams history, before you disparage mine. .Wilt Chamberlain, stolen in a lopsided trade with Philadelphia, over a contract dispute. .Kareem Abdul Jabbar, obtained in a lopsided trade. .Magic Johnson, threatened the Chicago Bulls with going back to MSU for one more year if they drafted him. (Pulled an Eli) .Kobe Bryant, traded for on draft day, after Kobe's agent said that playing for Charlotte would be "an impossibility". .Shaquille Oneal, Stolen from Orlando, and did not even offer a S&T or compensation. .Pau Gasol, LOL! (we know how he got there)
Pat Riley has never groomed his own players? Are you seriously making this statement? And as for current Heat players who are doing well under Erik Spoelstra: Dwayne Wade, Udonis Haslem, Mario Chalmers, Joel Anthony, James Jones are all solid players, developing nicely under his tenure as coach.
Sec I have a question? What exactly are u talking in about in regards to Magic? The Lakers aquired the pick they drafted Magic with in a trade a few years earlier. He was picked with the First overall pick. What kind of demands towards the Bulls are you talking about? Never heard of it
.... apparently reading comprehension isn't your strong suit... "I can't even make this arguement with a straight face"... what part of that did you miss? Great franchises find ways... The Heat on the other hand are still learning what it takes...
You make it sound like LeBron, Wade, and Bosh have been together for three or four years... Making it to the NBA Finals their first year together is pretty good and I think they will certainly take the next step this year.
Amazing how many lopsided trades one team can have... The NBA wants stars in LA, I thought this was just an accepted fact and no one was silly enough to argue about it.
Yep, this is why the "wah" comments about the "Old guy and a burlap sack" trade proposal when the CP3 deal was nixed. The last real "impact" guy they drafted was James Worthy. Here is how they landed James Worthy (#1 overall in 1982): Damn, they have a rule named after this chuckle head, "The Ted Stepien Rule", and they won a coin flip with the then SD Clippers to win the #1 overall. Byron Scott? Traded Norm Nixon for him. What I think is really the funniest part of this is Houston and NOLA's GM's "begging Stern to reconsider", 90% of NBA GM's...utterly clueless thrulls. I suspect the average fish is smarter then they.
Before the draft that year, the Bulls and Lakers flipped a coin to see who would get the first overall pick. Before that coin flip took place, he said that if the Bulls won the flip, he would not play for them, and would go back to MSU for one more year. he basically put the Bulls in an impossible position, had they gotten the #1 pick. Of course..the lakers won the coin flip, and it didn't matter in the end.
No they are not. Under the definition of "Great Franchise", there is a picture of Micky Arison and Pat Riley with a Heat logo.
the new offer that NOLA is getting for CP3 is pretty good. Clippers sending Gordon, other pieces and picks? THAT is a good deal. A young all-star caliber player and other pieces? They should thank Stern for vetoing that other deal.
LOL. That trade got killed as well. But Gordon was not included, so of course..it was gonna get killed.
Notice D12 has not went anywhere as of yet? That is a better deal for Nola, but as you pointed out, it was killed because Gordon was not included? BSPN radio had reported it as done with CP3 signing a 2 yr extension.
Howard reportally rethinking his trade request. Lets see if Magic can pull off a miricle and keep Howard and trade for Paul. Guy can still dream can't he?
decent trade for Indy getting OJ Mayo. memphis getting McRoberts who is useful and Brandon Rush is fine.
Beasley gets moved last year and Mayo this year. Two top picks in the '08 draft have new teams already.
Erik Spoelstra is doing an interview on 790 with LeBatard now, and listening to him tells me why our bubble head here with the Dolphins completely sucks, and I am rejoicing that he will apparently be gone. Spo sounds like he has a brain. what a concept. and he's self aware. Asked if he has any regrets from the finals last year.. Naturally..the bubble head coach like Tony S. would say..No..kay...we just didn't execute...blah blah blah..kay.." Not this guy. he comes right out and says.."Yeah, I think I needed to use a timeout in a different spot in Game 2, and I failed to use Lebron at the #4 and Bosh at the #5 more to put pressure on them." What a concept. No double speak, and just honesty. Self Awareness is a quality I want in my next Dolphins coach. it is why, I am now endorsing Jeff Fisher. No more of these cookie cutter self important clowns.
Honestly, I thought that interview was a little too press conference-ish, but it was miles better than anything ever done by any member of the Parcells coaching and front office trees.
Stern is an idiot for nixing the Clip trade. Holy **** Hornets get nothing for Paul as he walks away a FA after this season.
Have you checked out the Hornets current roster? It has the makings to become the worst team of all time.
They have 6 players under contract. If they don't do something quick, they won't be able to field a team. Stern has now neutered the Lakers, Rockets, Hornets and Clippers directly, while putting a bunch of other team's balls in a vice. This season is going to be a disaster and it is all on Stern.
Clippers just claimed Billups off of the amnesty wire. Which means he is theirs until July. He cannot be traded. I wonder if he actually retires now. The Clips just totally took themselves out of the Paul run with this move. Stern's veto powers are going to cripple teams...New Orleans first.
Who is Sterns favorite team? Honestly does he think a team will offer more than the Clips? I don't understand it no one is going to buy that sorry *** team with CP leaving and having no pieces.
Stern is going to cut off his nose to spite his face. I think he is willing to allow Paul to make the ultimate choice of taking more money to play for a terrible Hornets team, or sacrifice millions to pick his spot next year. It is comical now. Absolutely comical.
Stern truly is the worst comissoner in all of sports and I thought Goodell was trying his damndest to get that title too.
I don't get the NHL commish, he's always booed.... that sport is clearly on the rise... Stern is the one that should be booed for eternity.
Bledsoe is out for 8 weeks now, so Billups has a roster spot. Last year, they liked to play a three guard lineup alot. Billups allows them to continue to do that. There is talk that the deal is not dead. Remember that they have their own amnesty candidate in Mo Williams.
