I've been playing with my brother and friends. It's pretty fun especially for an MMO.

    Hey...so...couple of ??'s

Whats the crowd like? I played WoW for awhile..and the dweebs spamming on the chat drove me nuts....

Also...I have a 8 year old...who loves Star Wars, and would like to let him play. IYO, is it to mature for him?

    Thanks

Well, it really depends on your way of parenting. Charachters don't cuss. I dont see alot of swearing in the chat either tbqh. But that just could be my server. Game isn't complicated, good, bad is obvious. Lots of conversation, but you can skip that. Under your supervision I think it would be okay, but this is coming from a 20 year old, keep that in mind :D

You can turn off main chat in the options. I generally do that when I party.

I do not know for an 8 year old. I believe the game is T for teen. There are some 'suggested' scenes. They do not show anything, however you can get it on and murder till your hearts content. Aw murder, those Jedi will rue the day the messed with the Sith.

Decent game although no idea if i will make it past the initial 30 days as its to much "on rails" for me (I have played EvE for nearly 8 years and continue to find new things to enjoy/scam etc.)

Best described as a single player game played online with occasional grouping with friends/randoms to do difficult quests. Very much a WoW clone with a Star Wars skin on it. Dont get me wrong the Star Wars part of it is great but the gameplay is very very shallow IMO.

Dammit, video card stopped working, going to be a few days before I can replace it. Guess I have to go back to Skyrim. Also got Arkham City, but not enough memory on my PS3.

I think WoW gets too much credit for features being original when they aren't, but WoW modernized the genre and games like Warhammer/RIFT/TOR look a lot closer to WoW than WoW does to EQ, in my opinion.

With TOR I'm really enjoying my time and while there are plenty of issues, game is good enough that I can wait for the fixes and allow the game to grow. However, I'm really big on story and a SW nerd so the game is really setup for me to like it. If I didn't care about SW then it'd still be a neat game but not sure how long I'd play.

Im in a guild, Red Eclipse. Im on the Empire side though, Bounty Hunter with nothing but light points :D Go figure.
Im loving this, I loved the KOTOR series and I enjoyed WoW for few years, but I got tired of it. This, I feel like I can play longer. I feel that the dark/light points and storyline is nowhere near WoWs level, it blows it away. When I played WoW i cared about leveling up and getting gear, here I dont skip cinematics and I am genuinely interested in the story line, not to mention that the light/dark decisions you make really do affect how you play and what happens to your toon.
Another thing that im seeing here is the chances of a rare or an epic dropping from a reg mob are much higher than in WoW. Don't get me wrong, you don't have garbage mobs dropping epics left and right, but it happened to me twice, and twice I was able to flip it for a nice profit. When I played WoW, I think ive had one, ONE random mob drop an Epic that wasn't in a instance or anything.
I hit 25 (and 26) yesterday and build my own mount and made the game THAT MUCH easier lol. I like the way companion system and the "crew skills" system is set up too.

Real life friend and old raiding buddy from WoW, his raiding guild transferred over and I joined them just to socialize leveling up. I do my quests and pay attention to general for groups doing the Heroics, then when I'm the right level I go on the fleet to join a Flash Point group. I save most of my crafting for then so I have something to do. Like Tip54 I loved KotOR and love this. I watch all the cut scenes closely and do every quest I can on a planet before moving (unfortunately I'm way over-leveled). I don't role play in chat or play on a RP server but I do RP all my choices and that's made the game fun for me. My Agent stays around the neutral mark so won't be any light side or dark side gear for me, have to wait for neutral gear to be implemented.

    Sure is.
Credits aren't a problem for me though. I got Slicing, Scavenging and Cybertech. I make lots of cash with Slicing missions and make ship parts with Cybertech that I can sell 2-3 k a pop.
I got to 25 with 80+ k and I wasnt concentrated on making money. Just constantly had one companion out slicing and at the end of the night before logging Id just craft few ship parts and throw them on AH. Not to mention that I pick up all the loot from trash mobs and constantly sell it.

    Forgot about this thread ;p

So yah I've been playing since July with the HK-47 beta group. In live I've been taking my time as an mmo vet (to the point that I used to work for MMO's for 8 years such as Neocron, LOTRO, Pirates of the Burning Seas, Second Life, Fury as Lead forum mod, GM, Head of English Support..you name it I did it ;p) so I don't burnout as most rushers to 50 tend to.

I've got a lvl 36 Jedi Knight (Saea of the Firestarter Legacy) on the server: Giradda The Hutt. I actually play with 3 real life friends. 2 JK's (I'm the Guardian and the other is a Sentinel) and 2 Consulars (Shadow and a Sage). Lotsa social points :) It's actually been quite fun playing it as a 4 man co-op although I know once we reach 50 we might have to disband our little guild and join a bigger one to do the operations.

I also have a lvl 20 Inquisitor Sorcerer (healing spec) on the Empire side.

Overall I am having a blast despite the negative nancies on the forum there (biggest whiners since the Miami fanbase!....I kid I kid!). I've signed up for another 3 month subscription and look forward to what Bioware will do in 2012.

Up to lvl 25 Sith Inquisitor assassin. Just got my cool speeder. Biggest improvement was changing my crew skill to slicing. Get a lot of credits that way

I hit 30 last night. Haven't been able to play as much as I'd like to.
As a guild we took down couple planet bosses, was pretty fun. I think we did Tatooine and Nar Shaddaa's bosses. I think we will try to take out Balmoraa and Alderaan today. Should be fun. I haven't gotten any loot from them, mainly because we have a bigass party.

Also, I see lots of people *****ing about Tatooine as a planet, I enjoyed it. You definitely NEED a mount if you are going there, but I thought it was cool. Not to mention, that's where I ran in to my first group of republicans :D

I basically built a gaming PC to play this game. Quickly found it bored the hell out of me... :pity: And yeah, impossible to really do much of anything without paying so big middle finger to the chinless wonder George Lucas.

Both a subscription and microtransactions exist. If you do the subscription, it will be okay. But if you're trying to go entirely free than you'll be at a disadvantage.

TBH, they should of made a single player game.

No the game isn't Pay to Win. Basically all the cartel market has is cosmetic items and unlocks to allow the Free 2 Play crowd do more warzones/instances and inventory type stuff. No pay 2 win at all in this game and the devs have stated that they will never introduce P2W items in cartel market.

What do you mean by one fee? Does that option exist? I have no problem paying a one time fee to enjoy a game as long as I want if it's not outlandish. But I will never ever ever pay a monthly subscription to play a game. Not when there are so many free or 1 time fee games out there to be enjoyed. I'm not exactly a cheap person but I really have big time problems with adding any kind of regular monthly debt to my budget. Especially for a game.

There is no "one time fee"
You pay $15 a month, or few bucks less than that if you sign up for longer terms, but you gotta let them auto charge you.
Or you can buy pre-paid cars, Amazon has 60 day ones on sale right now, actually. But to answer question, no, there isn't a way to play this game (or WoW) without some sort of monthly payment.

Nah. It was a great single player game..............but that was the problem. Could only play Hutball so much and they weren't adding enough fast enough.

Really disappointing but then so is Bioware ever since EA took over.

Got my hopes in Star Citizen now.
