what makes you think that deron or Dwight would sign outright for less then the max when part of why the cp3 thing fell through is because he wanted a max deal.

That is what I was kind of hoping for but not sure chandler doesn't serve a purpose as well since its easier to find a Pg than a good big.

That is his game. Guy is a complete player. His speed and penetration just happens to be the BEST part of his game. But he can flat out shoot.

That is the job of your GM, and I don't think that D12 goes back to Orlando for money. New jersey is an absolute mess.

Good bounce-back game for the Cavs and especially Irving. He was awesome in the 1st half (didn't play much in the 2nd half). Thompson I felt played well again (should've had 3 blocks, but was somehow called for goaltending when the ball was like 3 ft+ away from the hoop), and Sessions was real good again too. Glad Casspi played better, and Jameson took far less shots outside the paint.

Best of all, Ryan Hollins' worthless *** didn't even play a minute. I was happy to see Samuels play a good chunk of time, and play well.

So it may be very awesome and very sad at the same time that the Cavs bench is as strong (or at least very close) as it's starting group.

    Live from the Internet.
Good comeback by the HEAT. Bosh had an absolutely beastly game. Wade was off most of the night, hurt his left foot, but ended up hitting a game winner with 2 secs to go. Something they haven't done last year at all, hitting a GW with under 5 secs (I think) Chalmers showed up. Those two are going to be a great combo, ad somebody noted on twitter, Spo will have the option of playing the hot hand at the end of games. Battier was impressive as hell in 2nd half too, everything I've read about him, not much will show up in the box score but he was absolutely all over the place during 3d when HEAT clamped down and started coming back. UD is still rusty, his jumper is off, but I'm not worried bout it, if anybody, he will get it going.

Those 3 in a row will be brutal on them. Celtics but everything on the line last night, and fell short and ran out of gas early today, it's going to be tough for old teams. Mavs, Cs...
    Bring on Minnesota.

Right but do you think the Knicks could have gotten Dwight or Deron for 14.5M? Thats the question. I dont unless Stat and Melo were willing to renegotiate their deals.

the dirty little secret is that the renegotiation clause was put into the CBA by the owners and the NBPA absolutely abhors it. I would be shocked if ANY max guy ever renegotiated their contract. Remember that it amounts to a paycut, unless it is your last contract. Amare on the last year of his deal, could offer savings. But forget about Melo.

Insert 4th quarter joke here:____________________ for Carmelo Anthony.

He was awful in the 4th. As bad as I have ever seen him play.

BTW Boik, that OKC Juggernaut you like? Durant and Westbrook almost had a fist fight on the sideline tonight after a 0-13 performance from Westbrook. Can you imagine the beatdown D-Wade would put on Westbrook?

Where'd you read the stuff about the CBA being put in by the owners and the NBPA abhorring it?

Yeah he also picked up a handful of cheap fouls. Thats one of the concerns I had with Chandler is when hes not able to defend in tightly called games he isnt productive. Hes an average rebounder and we know hes not a scorer.

Melo was out of rhythm all game, no excuse though.

As for westbrook, didnt see the game, just the statline but that dude needs to shut up and listen to durant and he'll be fine. Otherwise youre right.

I guess it Skip was right OKC should have traded Russel Westbrick for Chris Paul. The Heat are coming to Minneapolis on Friday which happens to be on LeBrons birthday... Last birthday game LeBron was 48, 10, and 6. Minnesota has 0 defense. God have mercy on us.

This team is so much more fun to watch this year. Irving and Thompson look like they'll be nice cornerstones to build around and there are some interesting pieces in Sessions, Casspi, Samuels and even Gee.

Hope they can somehow swing a deal for another lottery pick. Jamison and Andy should be on the block. I hope they amnestied Baron to free up space to make such a deal (take on salary with a pick). Adding two lottery picks in this loaded draft would turn this team around quick.

David Aldridge had a blurb on it on NBA TV, He said it was put in in the 11th hour, when the deal was already agreed to, and that negotiations had broken off before because of it. Expect it to be used on "last contract" guys to gain cap space.

Yeah I should have added some color to that -

What I meant was that Bron and Bosh were having great games, Wade was off, got injured - then still was the guy with the ball with 10 seconds left and everyone knew that shot was going in. He isn't a beast in the way LeBron is, he's just a killer.

Right now it's the Bulls and it will most likely be them throughout the season. But as the season progresses there may be a team or two that has a breakout year.

My thoughts are that the Knicks cant play worse then they did last night. Kobe is always a tough matchup but I expect Stat and Melo to bring their A games after awful performances last night. The one caution for me though be that the Knicks ALWAYS play terrible on the west coast even when theyre good. I dont know if its the time zone difference but I can remember for the longest time them always struggling on west coast road trips.

Realizing that LeBron James is the greatest player on the planet...

...is there any Heat fans that would consider dealing him for Dwight Howard? It seems crazy, but I can't help but think that Wade patrollign the perimeter, Bosh hitting jumpers and Dwight cleaning up underneath would be even more unstoppable than the Heat are as currently constructed.

I guess I realize that the answer is 'no' - but need to be talked out of why.

Because Dwight Howard is the only real big man in the NBA, thus the Heat don't really have to worry about matching up with other teams' bigs. Why would we trade the player you describe as the best on the planet to deal with something that isn't a problem?

I'll say this though. Its a small subset of players who can be off all night then ice a tough shot like that with the game on the line.

Tidbit I found on twitter for you heat fans per Joseph Goodman:

LeBron and Wade have quit shooting 3's as part of their practice routines and have not attempted one yet this year. Obviously this is playing a role in lebrons fg% to date.

IMO its a good move for LeBron especially as a SF to concentrate on using his physical strength to play inside the 3 point line as much as possible as it could and should continue to be a more efficient LeBron.

exactly. Lebron is useful vs. every team in the league.

D12 is the most easily marginalized player in the NBA.
