Well now, I'd hoped to see Steve Slaton get some run time prior to the offseason, along with Long being put on IR before something serious happened, and it looks like I'll get both of my wishes fulfilled. I liked Slaton, hope he does well.
Damn, I always look forward to watching Reggie Bush run. Well, the bright side is we get to see Daniel Thomas more.
Well, maybe Thomas can get a score now. I don't care what anyone says, he's had an abysmal year and it absolutely does not bode well for his future.
I don't think he has been that bad. He has shown that he can be a damn good running back, imo. I feel pretty comfortable with a tandem of Reggie and Thomas heading into next season.
damn it... i hate losing to the Jets... looks like it's up to Denver, Oakland, Cincy, Tennessee to make sure they don't get into the playoffs.
In all seriousness, Bowles is saying it's not a 'Week 17' injury. That he'd have missed this game under any circumstance. In all, Reggie ended the season with four straight 100-yard games (with that 200 sprinkled in).
Don't underestimate Slaton though, he has the talent he also has fresh legs vs a fatigued Jest team...coming to S Florida's 80 plus degres....
Think Ireland has anything to do with this decision? It's basically a "win the battle lose the war" situation, Bush is arguably our best player on Offense, if we lose this one we only help our draft positioning.
With Bush declared out, I see the Jets now winning. However, I don't see them making the playoffs. The Bengals will lose to the Ravens. The Raiders will lose to the Chargers. But I don't see the Texans beating the Titans. Season over.
Never know, I think the Raidrs v Chargers is the one to watch, that SD team is not known for having the most heart, and with Turner having one foot out the door, there is even less motivation to play hard. I'd love to see the Bengals beat the Ravens. As for the Jets winning this one, we shall see, I expect the D will be on fire in this one. Way I see it, either way, the Dolphins win, we may knock the Jets out of the playoffs, or we improve our draft positioning, the best outcome for us is for Matt Moore and Slaton to play really well, but lose in the end.
Damn that sucks. The last game of the year without your best offensive player. Have to wait till next season to watch him play again. Disappointing.
Meh, we're in no man's land when it comes to the draft...I see a defensive struggle, it's gonna look like we're trying to kick a beached whale back into the water metaphorically.
I've got to give Reggie some props, I really did enjoy watching him compete this year. I hope it's not something that's going to require surgery. Not good news for my fantasy team either. I've been riding him and Foster through the playoffs with a 15 point lead going into this weekend and shot at the title.
80 plus degrees? It's been 70 all week, and cooler in the evenings. Weather will not be a factor in this game.
Steve Slaton was a good back in 2008. He has done absolutely nothing since that year due to various injuries. I don't expect he will do much against the Jets this weekend either. Daniel Thomas had two good games earlier in the season and really hasn't done much the rest of the season. He also appears to be having a very difficult staying healthy and I think he is a very big question mark regarding his future in the NFL.
May have more then you think Des, retired patriots mentioned that while they were a good team in December, they had a tough time in the late season games in Miami, no reason why that wouldn't apply to the Jests.
We;ll revisit that in the 2nd half if Moore has a "injury", it's not like Losman is going to save the day either.. Slaton looked good earlier in the yr he scored a Td. If Gates is out with that groin, they will put him on kickoff returns as well imo.
Well, if they do make the playoffs, we won't have to be subjected to your posts since you've already mailed it in I see the Raiders and Broncos both winning which knocks you out. I don't think the Bengals will beat the Ravens, although Cincy will play them extremely close. Baltimore really wants and needs that first round bye. As for the Texans, I'm hearing they are playing all their regulars, and even Andre Johnson is coming back to play in this one. They are locked into the 3 seed but want to get back on a winning note. Titans are not a good team anyway and could lose to the Texans subs.
Wow, you set the bar pretty high. Thomas is 4th in the league in rushing for the 2011 rookie class, 3rd if you count only RBs (Newton). He's also ahead of every RB picked before him. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categoryst...null&statisticCategory=RUSHING&qualified=true http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft2011/
Well, way I see it, this is sort of a preview game for the offseason, anyone who they (meaning Ireland) thinks has a chance to contribute in 2012 should see the field and get some meaningful snaps to show what they have, no sense casting off a potential diamond in the offseason. Let Slaton run the plays Bush ran and see how he does, if Gates can't go on kick off returns, by all means stick him back there vs one of the Top 10 ST units in the NFL, he has a real opportunity in front of him and I hope he seizes it with both hands. Stick Garner in at RT if you can, or RG, may as well activate Ryan Cook as well.
Jimmy Wilson will be a phin in 2012, guys like Carroll and Culver, different situations. Check this out FS, and could be why we see some serious turnover: 2011 Dolphins, were by and large a healthy team, we didn't lose Big Jake until late in the yr, Henne went down early but uhm, he kinda sucked Misi went down late in the yr otherwise we were very healthy, and with all of the starters taking all of those snaps, the best we could do is 6-10. Was it coaching, or a lack of talent? That is thread worthy if you think about it, 25 starters, 21 played every game=5-11/6-10 There is no injury excuse for the roster, that is ominous in a way.
Well guys how missed 1 or 2 starts: Fasano Bush Carey (ankle iirc) Guys out for the season -Henne -Long -Misi A RT alone does not cause the offense to be in the bottom 3rd of the league, a role playing Lb does not do so either, this is what I mean, we could all be a bit surprised at the blow up of the roster we see depending on the Hc who is hired. Guys I think may move on: -YBell -Carey -Colombo -OL depth -Wr corps -Te corps -Vonate or Smith Buckel your seat belt FS.
I agree, and the only thing bad about Thomas this year were the multiple muscle pulls. Hopefully an offseason in an NFL conditioning program will alleviate that. At K State, he was a true bell cow, so I have a lot of optimism the muscle pulls this season were an anomaly.
Do the Ravens have anything to play for, as in playoff seeding? If not, they may rest some key starters and increase the Bengals chances. The Jets know all about facing teams that do that the last week of the season. I think the Raiders beat SD anyway. You are totally correct, with nothing to play for the Chargers ain't likely to be motivated playing under their soon to be free agent coach.
Ravens are bad on the road as well, the thing is when Lewis has the Qb, he can beat the ravens, when the Bengals won the AFCN in 09, they swept the division, with basically ground and pound and tough defense. I like Marvin Lewis, liked Raheem Morris as well, but he is going to be canned on Black Monday imo. SD is like an over indulged teenager who is sleeps in late and goes to school when they want to go, this one has the makings of a Raiders win, it is a rivalry game, not sure the players care at all.
Well the pick we traded the Saints for him was "conditional" so maybe this helps us out, with him not reaching the next draft pick for them.
I pray that the Jets make the playoffs, but I do not see it happening. I just really hope we beat you guys in Miami. That would be 2 in one season.
Hey I have a great idea. Why dont you make your 1,000th post something along the lines of, " damn, I cant believe the Dolphins knocked us out of the playoffs. We must really suck to finish 8-8 when our fat gas-bag of a coach claimed we were Super Bowl bound. We are the same ol` Jets after all. " Feel free to use this quote as your own if the situation calls for it.
