Thank heavens my local CBS switched over to the end of the game (my local sports bar with the NFL Ticket wouldn't even show this game...pathetic). It was the most exciting few minutes of sports I've had in a very long time. My amazing wife even popped open some champagne!

I know we are still on a high, so I apologize in advance if you feel like I'm spoiling the mood, but there are few things that really stuck out to me.

    1. Cam Cameron is just a bad HC. Final drive in the red zone, and three runs up the middle. We kick the field goal then he calls a pooch kick to give them the ball on the 40...Absolutely horrible. If it wasn't for luck, we'd all be screaming for his head. He needs to go.

    2. It's always stuck out to me, but Dolphin Stadium must be the worst stadium from an "energy/emotional" perspective. Did you see how far the fans were from our team when they celebrated in the endzone? When was the last time a player leaped up into the stands in Dolphins Stadium as we see so many times at other stadiums? The stands are too far and too high from the field. And the distance between the sidelines and the seats is just ridiculous. (Compare our stadium to the other stadiums in the league to see how far removed our fans are from the field: http://www.stadiumsofnfl.com/)
Because of the height, it seems like you can bring the fans closer with a few rows of retractable seats around the perimeter. I know it sounds silly, but I feel it takes away from the homefield advantage.

    What do you guys think?

We won one baby! And our rookies are looking good.

Not attacking you, but, which side of the fence are you on?
Rookies can't do anything without some type of input from the HC / OC. Either some actual play calling to suit the players he's got or some actual coaching.

If you were watching the game, you must have noticed Jay Feeley's reaction to HIS kick while he was on the sideline.

The Dolphins have given up excellent field position due to their lack of talent on the special teams unit. That has been noted by everyone including every sportswriter in Miami. So we've killed the team for that (talent). What you cannot do (in hindsight) is second guess the coaches decision which is directly related to how bad we are or how good they are on special teams. Cameron called what he had to call. Nobody is complaining about the pooch that got a fair catch at the 35 on a series earlier. The 35???? That's when you have admitted you can't cover on special teams. So the next one - the kicker botches. Now it's somehow Cam Cameron's fault for calling the exact same thing he did a series earlier?? Crazy, just crazy......

Most (if not all) NFL stadiums are being built as multi-use facilities. The extra space on the sidelines are Soccer related. Everyone has that extra space now. Very few teams still have a true football stadium and if they do - they are old. Texas Stadium is the last of the true greats but it's old as dirt. It still has a college feel in the mezzanine. I suppose you could look at Lambeau and wonder why the Dolphins couldn't have that. What you would have to admit to yourself is that nothing is going on in Lambeau EXCEPT for football games. That places a hinderance on financing upgrades. Football is the only ticket.

Back to Dolphins stadium. They have been considering the fan experience of late. I think the very seats that Camarillo was leaning on were added just a couple of years ago. They have added similar seats on the sideline. But these are temporary seats that can be removed for other events that require the space. The pictures you are viewing at that website are old. If you will notice, nobody is sitting below the wall in the Dolphins stadium picture. As we saw yesterday, now they do.....

I had season tickets for three years. I live in South Carolina. The season tickets forced me to try to go to as many games as I could. I enjoyed the experience. The one thing I noted about my experience at Dolphins stadium for those three years was a simple problem. My first time there was the 2001 Ravens playoff game. This was a playoff game! A couple of old farts continually asked me to sit down. They said nothing the entire game except for those requests. I looked around and everyone had the same demeanor. They would give "golf claps" for a touchdown and absolutely nothing for a bad play. It was like a morgue. I raised hell the entire game.

The second game I went to some old bag made mention of how loud I was being. I said out loud, "It's football. It's not tennis!" My wife and kids were sitting right beside me. The lady made reference of the example I was setting for my kids. My wife told her, "Don't worry, they will survive."

The point I am making is that the crowd is the problem at Dolphins stadium. It got better over the three years I attended but for the most part, people just didn't know how to let loose. The ONLY game that I saw any emotion was JETS games and there was too much emotion there. Everyone wanted to kick everyone elses ***. I guess the weak knew not to attend those games.

This is one of the few barbaric games left to be played. Fans must understand that it's not a baseball game. It's not a tennis match. It is a football game. If they sit by me - they will come to that realization in the first quarter. I encourage all that attend to do the same. It is then that you will see the emotion change. I can attest that it has changed alot since 2001. It's either that or for the next three years I didn't sit beside those old farts......

I agree about the lack of energy with the fans, but not about how most multi-use stadiums are similar to ours. I'll give it to the organization for the additions they made to the exterior, the new grand concourse and the HD jumbo screen...but no other team's fans sit further away from the field than ours. Look at the Par 3 like area between the team benches and the stands, no other stadium is like that. I appreciate the fact that the stadium is multi-use, but retractable stand could easily be installed (I'd prefer that to more shops and fancy food stands). Check the photos on that site. Also the height of the stands from the field is higher than any stadium in the league, this is pretty obvious in the endzones. I don't think a handful of temporary seats makes up for this distance. And I believe it hurts in crowd noise, energy and home field advantage...but winning can also fix this.

I think we will all be pleased as soon as the Marlins are out of DOLPHIN STADIUM.
