What would you guys think of us really taking our time and at the same time giving Bowles a 1 year interview. Of course Ireland would get one more shot as well. There is nothing that says we have to hire someone right now................

    ???????? Thoughts please

I'd rather Ross just hire Bowles to a 3 year deal instead of giving him a "one year interview" type of job.

Apparently several other guys are against it................not sure why exactly because they don't make a case for or against

Seems to me from several different angles we would have opportunity to clearly assess who's out there and available instead of pulling the trigger just for the sake of pulling the trigger

Also seems more practical to me to leave Bowles in place for several reasons:

    1. knowledge of the staff is already there
    2. Knowledge of the players is already there
    3. Opportunity should be given to prove he could/should be a head coach
    4. it would only be one year
    5. Sparano is gone and there is no other excuses
    6. We could easily roll into the draft with a very good assessment of what we need, not someone coming in and trying to look at film to determine that
    7. Who else knows the QB situation better then he would, and who we should/could draft

If after a year and 4 games we improve to say 10-6 with a good draft I would say maybe we have had the guy all along............

I read the article and I posted it to create discussion about Fisher. I personally think Ross will be swayed by a big name guy because he is inexperienced and wants very badly to please this fan-base.

With that being said I posted that article for 2 reasons:

    1. because it helps make your argument of why you like Fisher
    2. it also points out that he has not exactly been a stellar coach in the Win column

Personally I do not like Fisher because I think he will bring more mediocrity. I really don't care for Gruden either. I do like his attitude though.

I like Fisher simply because what we have on the roster in terms of talent, best fits his coaching philosophies, meaning shorter turnaround time.

He also does different things then the rest of the division, which we also need, I'm a bit tired of using the Parcell's Belicheck tree to try and pass the patriots, if any team has shown us how to beat them, it is the Ravens, and that is the style of ball he brings to the table.

Then Matt Moore is our Starting Qb.....because he will certainly draft linemen to play smash mouth football. We can forget about a QB with the first pick.

    McNair and Young?

Even if he did not want Young, Fisher wanted Leinart, with our FA cash, we can sign linemen

How about that Steelers Linebackers Coach we looked at for DefCord before hiring Nolan?>

And Schefter was really talking up Marc Trestman, the man in my Avvy.

And maybe this change will get my current CFL to NFL fancrush, Cb Jovon Johnson a shot with us this spring.

I am not opposed to signing linemen. In fact I believe it is going to be very important in the near future for the stability of this team. We also need depth desperately. It is funny you mention "Air" Mcnair, and Young. They are two stark contrasts in not only style but one is a Hall of Famer, the other.....well.....not so sure. It starts though with the foundation or line. Look how good Reggie has looked when our line was blocking. The man has never looked better in his NFL career for the few games he had. I am not opposed nor ignorant to the fact that we must address those very positions Jeff Fisher may be best at putting together. I am looking at his history and he has been .500 ball his whole career. Other guys said they couldn't stand having another year of the same crap we have had. Unfortunately the news flash is we will have just that for several years, not just one, if we get rid of Bowles, Daboll and Nolan. It will be instant regression.

Bowles deserves a year to see what he can do. If we improve then lets talk contract next year. There really is no hurry here and these guys put us in the best position for success.

Ireland would give birth to a live kitten on camera...it would be great:

"What Mr Ross, oh sure, in your office"

"Jeff this is the crew from hard knocks and they want to film your reaction to having them at the facility this camp"

    "at the facility"

"On August 3rd Jeff, that is when it opens"

    "aacck..acckkk..meow..meow..."

"Did you get that on camera fellas"?

Everything Parcells-related needs to be exorcised. I don't understand the problem we've had with carrying out an exorcism. Not only do we have the Archdiocese; we have large palo mayombe and voodoo communities. If any community can pull this off, it's ours. I would even import some Wiccans. But it has to be done.

I sort of like Billick, Deej can't stand him because he lost the locker room in Baltimore, plain fact was when you play "Mr Smart Guy" in that locker room, you'd better deliver, and watching Kyle Boller be Henne before there was a Henne, did not go over well with that group.

Crowder, imo, let it be known the Dolphins Locker room had reached that point with Henne, but they still loved Sparano, to me, that showed in how the team finished.

I feel that new blood is needed. Chudzinski (sp) from the pro ranks or Chip Kelly from the college ranks. I would keep Ireland until at least the draft and evaluate him on that and free agency. I really think we need someone hungry and I am not sure that I feel some of the "retread" coaches still have that fire in them. One that I could live with would be Gruden, but he pisses off too many refs and we would get alot of calls against us.

Keeping both Ireland and Bowles would at least give the Dolphins the opportunity to draft Barkley with the first pick in the 2013 draft. Ross could also plan on buying about 25,000 tickets for each home game next season if he doesn't want the games blacked out in South Florida. If Bowles is named the HC and Ireland remains the GM, season ticket sales will be below 40,000 next year.

Exactly why would you want to keep together a coaching staff that is as bad as the one now running the Dolphins? The last I checked this staff has coached this team to a 5-10 record so far this season. Many members of the coaching staff have also been with the team for the last three seasons and the teams is a combined 19-28 over this period. Bowles having knowledge of the coaching staff should not be a reason to keep him as the HC. The vast majority of the coaching staff needs to be fired after the game on Sunday.

As far as knowledge of the players is concerned. With the record these players have put up over this season and the previous two seasons, it is highly likely that 75% of these players will be gone within 2-3 years after a new coach takes over.

Ross doesn't need to hire someone who is familiar with the present coaching staff or the players. He needs to hire someone who will come to Miami and clean out the stink that these players and coaching staff have left over the course of the last three seasons. Bowles is part of the problem with this team, he certainly is not part of the solution.

I'm not saying he is who I want personally. The OP asked for our best guess of who the next coach will be. All I can gather from reports is Ross wants a proven head coach with a well known name, such as Billick, Fisher, Gruden, Cowher, Dungy, or Schottenheimer. Using the process of elimination, there are more reasons to believe among that group, for various reasons, Billick will end up as the last man standing. I'm sure you have heard the same things I've heard about each of them, and there are more reasons why the rest, other than Billick, would not be the one who gets it.
