I hope JT goes out with a win and a big game. I'd like to see the defense introduced with JT as a starter with a huge ovation. He's had a great career here. I think he's a HoFer and an absolute lock for Ring of Honor.
There was a steady stream of quotes and quips from JT (Holliday and Porter too) the moment Saban left well into after the draft of basically blasting Cam. The guy never had a chance. I'm also not saying JT masterminded a plan to destroy Cam. Its just that for a "leader" he was horrible and could get diva-ish. That horrible leadership and diva attitude was a cancer to that year's team.
Because no fan base would be happy with a one & done 1-15 coach. Just like most fans here, fans everywhere don't care how it happened just the end result.
We don't realize it right now, but in the future, there will be a generation of Dolphins fans who never watched JT play, sort of like how Dolfans now, never saw Marino play. Or Bears fans who never saw Butkus play. I'm going to enjoy this game a whole bunch and think the Defense is going to come out on fire.
That would be sweet, would love to see him top that phoney Strahan for #5 all time. Funny thing is, JT had an appearance on Rose's show this morning, and Sparano had said he'd loved to have JT back in 2012, but JT went on to say it was apparent to him 2-3 weeks ago that he was not in the plans and did not want to be the elephant in the room and a roadblock so he decided to pull the plug http://www.wqam.com/index.php?page=347 Great interview BTW, well worth the listen if you are a JT fan. From my pov, he can still play, I thought he could have 10 sacks this yr just watching him get off the ball in the preseason, he is at 7.
Don't have the chance to listen at the moment, but would you say in reference to the bit about Sparano wanting JT back in 2012 adds a bit more fuel to the fire regarding the disconnect between Jeff Ireland and Tony Sparano? I know Crowder referenced it multiple times in the offseason and early on this year, and from what we've heard from the likes of Lombardi and others, seems like it could be true...
Well, it just seemed like JT did not want to leave the way Zach Thomas did, come into camp and have your parking spot sign taken down type of thing. He never mentioned Ireland or management or what have you, did not even hint at other then to say he did not want to be a situation to deal with as he felt changes were coming.
Incredible posts here. It's amazing how selective the defense and damnation of the Bill Parcells regime is. Parcells and Ireland explored trade options on Jason Taylor after trading yet another anchor of our defense (Zach Thomas) to Dallas. No respect for our two most heralded defensive players whatsoever, so... Blast and condemn Parcells and Ireland for Sparano and current coaching staff yet... Defend and praise Parcells and Ireland over Jason Taylor. Hypocricy anyone? Jason Taylor has done more for our team than any other player since Dan Marino. Jason Taylor has been the most profilic defensive player our team has had since the days of the No Name Defense...and you guys want to blast Taylor and defend the same folks who brought us Sparano and Ireland?
Which is it then? 1-15 as a coach or a player who destroyed the team? I'm sure JT sabotaged the play on the field and knowing that the only chance was to beat the Ravens he then told Cam he would call off the dogs and allow GC to catch the winning TD.
He walked away and didn't care about being in camp. JT is a stadium stamp now. Who cares? Player fans love him.
no. It;s fiction. Blaming JT for that 1-15 season, might be the dumbest thing ever posted on this site.
Hmmm, clearly you aren't actually reading what I wrote. Blah, blah, blah. Dispute something I said, instead of Section 126-ing through the discussion. Are you really saying our defense didn't cost us the first four games? Are you saying JT didn't disrespect Cam in the media during the offseason, before ever meeting with him? Are you saying drafting Ginn actually caused us to lose 15 games? Talk about the dumbest thing ever posted.
I read it and it's clear what you wrote. On 1 hand JT is the cause for all that went wrong with the team (not just the 1-15 year by your "logic"). On the other hand it's Cameron's fault they went 1-15. You sound like a politician.
No you really didn't. I said: Can you not see how that differs from what you think I'm saying? I said: Can you also not see how that differs from what you think I'm saying? So maybe try again.
Personally would not have had a problem with JT leaving and going to play for anyone other then the Jets, Pats and Bills. I would have been OK with anyone other then those three teams. thats just me though...
You're right, nobody cares about that now except an ever diminishing group of dedicated haters. It is crystal clear to pretty much everybody now that Parcells was the goat who didn't really give a damn about this franchise. I'm glad somebody in the Dolphins organization had the balls to stand up to that washed up piece of garbage. And who is still wearing aqua and orange now? You and your 'player fans' BS again. You just can't help yourself.
Come on M979, JT did exactly that, Parcells wanted everyone in camp to engage in the weight program, JT, being a vet and an all pro made the choice to say screw that, I've made my bones, it's my offseason. So he was dealt to DC, which is fine, that's the biz, why anyone would still be mad about that now is beyond me.
It's beyond me too because it wasn't that big of a deal. As if he's the first vet to miss camp. I've posted several times that Strahan missed camp his last season for the sole reason that he didn't feel like going. Nobody in NY gave a crap. Because Coughlin didn't make a huge deal out of it. Because Coughlin didn't feel the need to start a **** measuring contest. He was focused on putting a winner together apparently. Watch the NFL network program about that Giant's super bowl team and hear Strahan joke about how he would have missed even more camps if he would have known that the only penalty was a fine of 100K or so. Yet with the JT situation it's as if it is some horrible unspeakable thing that doomed the Dolphins organization.
So what? The Giants hadn't done anything yet. Strahan also wasn't dealing with an over the hill prick who rode into town like a conquering hero. I'm sure Coughlin wanted Strahan to go to camp. Surely he did. I can imagine he contacted him and told him he'd like him to show up at camp. He didn't go. He paid a fine, the season started, they moved on. Nobody in NY had to prove how all powerful they were at the top of the organization so it ended up meaning nothing in the long run.
Yeah i was razzin ya for the most part, but I hated it when it was the Jets, then the fear of Zach with the Pats. It does hurt more when its a division team. IMO blame falls on both sides, no one was inocent here. The fact that it was the Jets made it feel like JT was stickin it to us but reality is he was stickin it to Parcells.
Zach retired because he couldn't do it anymore. Did he retire when Miami cut him? Is that how you remember it? I'll refresh your memory. He played a season with the Cowgirls, went to Chiefs camp the next season and then retired before the season started because he couldn't perform anymore. If Bellichick or fat Rex would have been the ones calling him when he thought he could still play he would have went there. Any of you who think otherwise need to take a step back into reality. The idea that a man should retire from his business when he can still perform rather than go work for a rival team in a GAME is asinine.
It's easy to tell some stranger that he should retire from his line of work while somebody is still willing to pay him to do it. People take games way too seriously. He wasn't defecting to the Soviet Union.
