Probably right. But maybe not. Maybe Irsay wants Manning to be a Colt lifer and knew that drafting Luck meant the end of Manning in Indy. Maybe Polian had decided he wanted to draft Luck and trade Manning.
I know I'm grasping at straws, but I'm just hoping this is our back-door to Andrew Luck

I still think there is a price for #1, especially if Manning is ready to go. Seriously doubt Manning and Luck can coexist on the same team.

Honestly I could see Snyder outbidding us on both Luck and Manning ala Haynesworth deal.

I think its more about realizing that the last 4 or 5 drafts have been blown by Polian.

    Meaning he's retiring? Or he's being cut/traded?

Provided Manning is healthy, I'll take him for 2 or 3 yeas as we groom a young QB.

I doubt they're going to pay the guy $28M next year when it's almost without a shadow of a doubt that he won't be the same player he was. This neck injury is no joke.

Wow. So maybe I had it backwards. Maybe Polian wanted to keep Manning and trade the pick, but Irsay wanted Luck. Either way, this is gonna spice up the offseason, provided Manning is given a clean bill of health.

I understand that, but contracts are re-worked all the time. If both sides wanted to, it would be done. Sounds like one side or both sides want a change.

OMG, can you image having both Peyton and Reggie Wayne as Dolphins next season? I realize both are getting a little long in the tooth, but still.

I'd give Peyton whatever he wants and draft a guy like Tannehill. I don't give a ****.

If we traded for Manning it would really rattle Henne's confidence...

I certainly wouldn't mind Manning in Miami for two or three years. That would certainly provide a quantum leap for the offense, as well as the rest of the team. This would also allow the Dolphins to draft a QB of the future who could sit and learn behind Manning during these years.

Unfortunately, I have seen nothing from Ross since he has been the owner of the Dolphins, which makes me think he will be willing to spend the money it will take to convince Manning to come to the Dolphins. I think it is far more likely that if Manning becomes a free agent, he will end up with the Redskins, Jets, or possibly the 49'ers. The Redskins and Jets have owners who have already shown they will spent the money to bring in the high priced free agents. The 49er's would be a team that Manning could step right in and make them one of the Super bowl favorites from day one. In fact with his limited years left in the NFL, I think the best choice for Manning would be the 49er's, if the ownership of the team is willing to pay him the same type money he could get from the other teams who will be bidding for his services.

The Dolphins are a Super Bowl team with Manning as well, IMO.

I would take Polian. His track record is outstanding. Buffalo, Panthers, and Colts.. all of them were great under his tenure there.

They drafted bad the last few years, that team got old and is lacking talent all over.

I think this years Colts team was pretty reminiscent of previous ones. I think #18 being out just exposed the weaknesses they had, namely the defense. You're always gonna see a drop-off on offense when you lose a Peyton Manning, but the Colts defenses were never great. Even when they won the SB they were average at best. Pretty tough when you're picking towards the bottom of Round 1 every year as well. The Pats have run into this problem of late. Without Brady, how many games do they win? 4, 5?

You mean other than make Marshall one of the highest paid receivers in the league, Dansby one of the highest paid linebackers in the league, trading draft picks for guys like Reggie Bush and make an offer to Jim Harbaugh to be one of the highest paid coaches in the league without firing the old coach and with no pro experience?

Ross pinching pennies has yet to manifest itself. I don't understand why some people look at him as some sort of miser or something. The guy has done nothing but pump money into the Dolphins since day one.

I agree. I have issues with Ross, but none them involve spending money.

I said some time back that if we were ever able to get Bill Polian we should JUMP at the chance. Polian's record speaks for itself. He could build us a juggernaught and I believe this season has taught him a valuable lesson.

Besides, I don't think anyone here would argue that Matt Moore is 10 times better than Curtis Painter.

    Mr Ross...don't miss this opportunity!!!
