Pouncey played excellent for his first year needs to add a little weight in the offseason but played with a lot of tinasity. Odrick played good has great hands at the poa very fierce and is going to be a great lineman for the dolphins for the years to come.
They both played better then I expected. I thought Osrick would be injured again or be slowed by it still. I thought Pouncey was playing out of position. I still think he could be a better guard. But both were solid. I'm very happy with them.
pouncey was solid odrick on the other hand had plenty of games were he was a non factor and our pass rush looked god awful he did some ok stuff this year I'll give him another year before I judge him
I think they were both pretty good. Pouncey held his own against some great DT's this year, handled all the line calls IIRC, had a few snap issues, but nothing you can't correct. Odrick I thought had a pretty good year as well for what was essentially his rookie year in the league due to the injury last year.
Yeah, Pouncey's a guard. The Gators switched him to center his last year in college when his brother went pro - and he had problems with accurate snaps there too. He's a fine guard though, I hope we move him there next year.
I think the more pertinent statement is Earl Thomas>>> Odrick + Misi. Irish dropped the ball on this one. Pouncy has been solid. Hopefully he continues to improve and can anchor our O-line.
Its just my personal opinion but I believe Center is more important than Guard. If the only problem Pouncey has is snapping the ball we are lucky because he can work his way out of that. Its not as if he has been starting for several years at Center and has a long term problem with snapping the ball. We have LT locked down and if Pouncey continues playing well at Center and can control his errant snapping tendencies then we have a great nucleolus for a solid offensive line. Good Centers are not easy to find and great Centers are even harder to find.
Pouncey still shades everybody to the right and sometimes he forgets to check the left side. Those delayed blitz by the MLB are coming up oft his left shoulder. Great player, loads of work to go.
I'm of the opinion that Odrick was misused, or used rather optimistically. He took the overwhelming majority of his snaps as a Nickel edge rusher. Guys his size nearly always do the opposite, and play wider in base defenses and kick to the interior in Nickel packages. It's very rare for a guy in 300lb. range to be able to challenge a Tackle on the outside consistently, much less playing against a Left Tackle like Odrick was. Richard Seymour is arguably the best guy in that size range this decade, and you can make a good case that what Odrick did in essentially his rookie season stands up favorably to when Seymour did it in 2009. Pouncey looks promising, but he needs work. He's very up or down. He'll look like one of the best in the league one week, and pretty mediocre the next. I've got agree that he's probably better off at left guard.
Pouncey brings a new dimention to OL line play. A pulling C has less distance to travel than a G. He also held his own at the point of attack. He could use a few more lbs but did pretty well overall. Odrick is a beast. From what I've seen it takes 2 guys to block him.
Agreed. Ireland really hit on these two picks and they could both have future Pro Bowls awaiting them based off what I saw this year.
