Yesterday's Dolphins win against the Jets was the last time Jason Taylor will step on an NFL field as a player. He knew this ahead of time and had already enthusiastically thanked the fans who supported him throughout his career, but that didn't make it any easier. Here he is, saying goodbye to his teammates and to the game.

Goodbye to one of the greatest dolphin players of all time, thanks Jason.

Not ashamed to admit I cried at the end of the game Sunday. I'm gonna miss JT. Love him saying he couldn't think of a better way to go out than beating the Jets. The Jet Killer killed the Jets one last time.

Im going to miss #99, the man bled aqua and orange till the end. I sure hope this organization reaches a hand out to him when he's ready because no one on this team is a bigger Dolphin fan than JT.

I blame that on Parcells trying to show JT who was in charge.

Seems like every year JT was restructuring his contract so we could sign better players and get to the SB.

I've given the guy a ton of grief here for being a me guy which I still beliieve and I won't really miss him
but I did want that fumble recovery to be upheld for him. I was LMAO at how fitting that would have been.
Coming to a booth near you very shortly.

People forget that. It's something Parcells has done every place he's been (pick out a vet to cut/push around and establish he's boss). JT had signed a contract to be on DWTS after getting it approved by the team. Parcells came in after the fact and said "break the contract, b/c I'm the team now and I don't want you to do it". Then after he came back Parcells did it again by offering him a contract with the condition that he cut out his agent and long time family friend. JT never even turned it down. He just didn't cut out his agent so the team pulled the offer. JT didn't even think Parcells was serious about the cutting out the agent, he thought he just meant he didn't want some long negotiation.

Most of that is probably true but you left out one key fact. JT said he would come back immediately after DWTS was over but he didn't do that. Being the leader he is supposed to be he should have been back here with his team mates but instead held out to go to Cali and rub elbows with Hollywood types. He lied and left his team hanging. That was the rub with Jason Taylor for me.

It isn't for most of his critics. Most ***** about him signing with the Jets despite the fact that Miami didn't want him and the Jets were the only one that did. And if that's really the only thing for you (taking too long to return from Cali), even if it's true, I see it as an extreme over-reaction compared to how much leadership he has shown here throughout his career and in the community.

He left his team hanging. He is supposed to be a leader. Why wouldn't you be pissed about a guy who didn't give a rats *** about his team. I really don't care if you think it was an over reaction or not. It was classless and to overlook that is just blind player fandom. The team even told him not to come back after he didn't show. Did they over react too or were they ready to move on without his ego. He put himself before the team. That is not leadership.

All your actions are considered, not just one. He has been a good leader over several years. So even if in one off-season he wasn't there for a short time, a measured reaction would consider that in conjunction with all the times he's been a good leader. And that's even if it's true. My understanding was that he said he would return after he finished up his commitments for DWTS. That involved the commitments after he was eliminated. Parcells thought it meant as soon as he was eliminated (or didn't and just started the bully act again).

Come on man. You are fooling yourself to believe his commitment wasn't finished there. Taylor even officially made the statement he was staying in LA.
He didn't want to come to camp because he didn't want to. While his team mates were sweating it out JT was living the cushy life. As far as BP bullying JT you act like this is JR High. It's pro football and it is a business. Poor little JT got his feelings hurt when he made a visit and Parcells didn't kiss his ***.
The myth that the player fans manufactured that JT was pushed around is to create a little sympathy for the player and to appease Jason's ego.
Taylor is a big boy. I guess he just couldn't handle being treated the same as everyone else.

Poor washed up old fart Parcells got his feeling hurt when he rode into town on his white stallion to save Miami football and JT didn't kiss his ***. One man is going to be a Dolphins hall of famer. One man had a great career with New York teams. Interesting which side you decided to stick with. You clearly decide which players you like and don't like. Your constant implication that you look at the team big picture with no biased feelings and everybody else are just 'players fans' is BS and complete nonsense and everybody on this board knows it.

First of all it is no myth. It is well known that Parcells does this at every stop. Second, I wouldn't care if JT missed part of one TC in 14 years (or however long he played). It's a drop in the bucket.

Interview with Jason Taylor when he was still a Jet, honestly you got to get over JT going over to the Jets, he had 2 team interested in him the Dolphins and the Jets and the Dolphins didn't want to offer him a contract until after the draft to see if a LB was available to draft and the Jets wanted him to sign before the draft so if he didn't they could draft a LB in the draft. Honestly if 2 people came up to you and the first one says "I'll hire you, but only if we can't find someone in a few months so just wait." and the other says " I'll hire you right now to a better contract but if you wait for the other person then we're just going to find someone else."

Jason Taylor still wanted to play and when the Dolphins organization says they might not pick you up and the Jets are your only option you gotta do what you gotta do.

So what you are saying is JT was insubordinate to his boss and thus compromised the team purposefully.
    What a standup guy.

I could give two ****s that he went to the Jets.
He didn't care about the Dolphins because he cared too much about himself. It was a bad team and he was being bullied by the boss man LOL
How would you feel if one of the biggest so- called team leaders said they would trade all his team mates for Tom Brady.
    What a douche.

Who cares? anyone would trade their team for Brady. At least Taylor isn't out there shooting people(or himself) or killing animals, the man is a great person and was arguably our best defender ever. Honestly if he cared about only himself why would he stay with a mediocre team for 10+ years? He could have went back to the Jets for another championship run but he came back here and was a good contributer in his role. The JT going to the Jets comment wasn't just directed at you, it was directed to everybody still butt hurt about it.

That's basically it. Once he decides he doesn't like the player then he losses all rationality regarding the player.

You're definition of who is a "me" guy seems fairly arbitrary. JT was obviously considered a good team mate by his team.

Sometimes it takes me a bit to figure out if you're saying something ridiculous about a player b/c you're trying to be funny, b/c you're misinformed or b/c it happens to be one of those players you irrationally criticze.
