The Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled to interview Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin on Wednesday night, a Green Bay source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The Chiefs already have started their head coaching search and have had "several interviews," a Kansas City source told Schefter.


Those interviews took place before the end of the season, but the source declined to identify any of those candidates. Philbin also is on the Miami Dolphins' list of candidates to interview.

Why would they do that. Most of the main forums buy into every sensationalistic report from the media even though they make up about 80% of what they report. It also doesn't give them anything to complain about.

The Club Level took all of 15 posts to figure out the original report was bs and that Ireland has been there all the time.

 

Well, most coaching searches don't involve a team having a guy who "isn't involved in football operations" ride along with a candidate in a Helicopter. But other than that...

 

Peterson may or may not be directly involved in day to day FB ops but clearly he has the direct ear of the owner and weather anyone likes him or not, is very well versed in general day to day FB practices. I still see nothing wrong with this if Ross truly wants Fisher here and Peterson/Ireland agree then he should do everything in reasonable power to make it happen. Otherwise we are running the clown show and should be the laughing stock that some think we already are..

 

Your not looking at this with an open mind though....

Ross wants to hire Jeff Fisher. That is his target. If Jeff Fisher wants a different GM, then Ireland is most likely gone. So why in the world, would Ross have Fisher interviewed by Jeff Ireland. He needs to interview Fisher right away , but he is not a football guy. His close friend is. So..Ross is using all of his assets, to go after and try and land the coach he wants. And...from the way it sounds....it sounds like Fisher came away extremely impressed with Ross and the Dolphins organization.....

 

I am looking at this with an open mind though. I WANT coaches, especially a big-named coach like Fisher, to come away impressed with this organization. I WANT people to like Jeff Ireland and Steve Ross. I WANT this to be a desirable place for coaches and players alike. The problem is, that's not the sense I'm getting.

Hopefully I'm wrong and Fisher signs tomorrow. The Mike Silver report is encouraging. I still don't get why you keep a guy like Ireland around in the first place if you're just gonna drop the axe on him if the coach you want says so. It's little things like that, that bug me. It's like you're acknowledging that he's not capable of doing his job, but since no one has asked that he be fired you're keeping him around? Same with Sparano. I just don't get it.

 

Yeah. This is what bugs me about Ross too.
How about you grow a set and make an f'n decision instead of letting people twist in the wind. It can't look with potential coaches and players.

 

Ross' hesitation to fire Sparano last year cost us. His hesitation to fire Ireland may very well cost us this year.

 

Everything that's gone on so far has been reported to us. Why react to any of it if some is bull**** whereas some of it might not be?

 

I'm not hoi polloi enough to be in the Club level so I don't know how to respond to your question

 

Cuz its more fun to react than sit back with my arms crossed waiting for the official signing of a new HC.

I've defended Ross all along, but if this report is true (and that is a BIG if), then he needs to understand that this isn't a corporate board room, and that corporate tactics don't work when you have this many eyes watching you and a Twitter universe full of people trying to undermine your goals.. All it takes is one bad seed to spread rumors, for all we know another team may be feeding this innuendo to the media... He needs to be especially careful after the Sparano fiasco from last year.. People are looking and digging for us to fail.

At the end of the day, if this report is true, Ross needs to grow a pair and stop riding the fence... In an ideal workplace this type of strategy makes sense.. Corporations ALWAYS have to hedge their bets in order to survive. But at the same time you can't let friendship get in the way of making tough decisions. I honestly believe that Ross is too nice of a person to fire Sparano or Ireland outright, yet instead, these moves and dual option agendas wind up hurting them, and this team, far more than simply firing them would have.

 

It wouldn't be the Miami Dolphins if it wasn't a huge cluster****.
