It seems like Fisher is going to St Louis. Clearly this was Ross/Irish's plan A. Personally, I think this might be a blessing in disguise. I'm not sure what Plan B is for our FO but I'd like to at least come up with some useful suggestions.

    1) Don't hire a candidate that plans on being the O or D coordinator as well. Finding a successful HC candidate that can wear both hats is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

How about Hiring Moss from GB as HC. Than bring in Philbin as the new O-coordinator. This would be a step up for both of them. Bring in Flynn as QB competition with Moore. Retain Daboll and Nolan since they are under contract.

Calling the plays doesn't mean they are also OC or DC.

My Plan B is Brian Billick. If that doesn't work out, I'd think about Marty Schottenheimer with his son as OC. Mike Sherman... Mike Zimmer.... Joe Philbin...

Whether anyone wanted him or not, I was on the fence, it's not comforting that 2 years in a row the Dolphins have been shunned by their top choice. (assuming the reports of him going to Rams are true)

Do you have a link confirming the Dolphins offered Fisher the position?

1)Mike Zimmer, for all of the talk of "draft a Qb!" people overlook the Defense blew 4 4th qtr leads, and we lost 5 gms by 13 pts on avg.

2)Dave Toub, SEEMS like a innovative coach

3)Todd Bowles, as a sort of CEO coach, he's a sharp guy, you can see why he has interviews around the league

But none of this will matter until we upgrade our playmaker positions, sorry folks, "smart tough disciplined" and "it's a big man's game" is not a winning approach, you need playmakers who make plays when you need them made.

very well said Padre that is why i keep harping on taking oinemen in th elater rounds and take players who touch the ball in the first three rounds look at detroit they got real talent , same with the saints, our wr corp is average at best . I do like clay and Fasano and Bush but everyone else is not that appealing. Marshall is good but he is unstable more importantly is getting a freaking qb , my goodness its been at leat 10 years and the good teams are getting better because they got a real qb.

It's not all the Qb Aqua, not at all, think about this:

Last player to score 10 or more Td's for us?

    Ricky Williams, 2009

Reggie Bush tops 1k yds Amazing!

Shonn Greene did as well, ho hum.

    Brandon Marshall-6 Td's
    Rest of Wr Corps-4 Td's

    Think about that, our #2 and #3 Wr's caught 4 Td's last yr..32 games between them...4 Td's

    Te's

    Fasano-5 Td's
    Clay 3 Td's

Clay was our most prolific rookie on offense in terms of Td's since Ronnie Brown in 05.

4 Td's is what..a couple of weeks of play for the better #2 Wr's in the NFL? This was 32 games and we only had 4 td's.

Yep, among other things, this is one of the reasons why I'd like to see Hillis in Miami, we need more guys who threaten the defense, not sort of wu suh it, take what the D gives them etc etc.

Honestly, outside of Marshall, and maybe Reggie, who does that on our offense?

This is one of the reasons why I think the job Daboll/Dorrell and Matt Moore did was remarkable.

Hmmm, Hillis..I wouldn't target that player..I think offensive resources have to be spent on the most important positions that need upgrading, #2 receiver, #2 tight end, Lineman is more important than the running back unit..

Keep in mind we have a nice, pool of talent to draw on for the OL:

    -Murtha
    -Garner
    -Jerry

Hillis is a FA, with his disaster season in Cleveland, he'll not get the deal he would have.

Way I see it Deej, we have three things to resolve:

-How much talent is tucked on the roster? For me it is impossible to tell me we had no one better then Colombo to trot out there at RT, already on the roster
-Free Agency, do we keep the guys who are up, or let them walk? Do we add anyone?
-Draft, we have all 7 picks, but we are on the back 8/9 outside of rd #1, ie 40/41/72/73

Adding playmakers via the draft is cheaper, but signing them is more certain, and tbh this is one area I don't really trust Ireland in, his approach is big guys with high value resources whomever for playmakers.

I am more interested in the plan B as well because I'm not so sure that they won;t be better than "Plan A" (Fisher) anyways. Fisher is the 'safe' choice. Anyways, he'll probably go to the Rams, making all of this a moot point.

Truth is, though, I don;t follow things enough anymore to know who the other options really are.

Plan B would be Philbin (reportedly impressed Miami in his interview) or Zimmer (worked with Ireland in Dallas). Barry Jackson wrote in his latest story that Ireland and Zimmer have a very good relationship from their days in Dallas.

Would like to see Chud and Carmichael get interviews.

You need a line that can adequately protect the QB so he can get the ball to the current playmakers, so they can make plays.
The worst offensive starters compared to their peers were the RT, and the RG. I'll admit the 3rd worst starter was probably the #2 WR. How we draft will depend on who we sign in free agency.

I agree with SOMETHING SIMILAR to this 100%. I really want to see flynn here because ross seems willing to spend money and he seems like a low risk thats well worth the gamble, even without many starts, some QBs can just show off the it factor. After reading a few articles i wouldnt mind Philbin here as HC tbh, i've learned a lot more aobut him than i previously had known, and i'm not crazy about Fisher...its not a terrible idea.

.. but out of curiousity.... as far as Moss goes...how is philbin coming here as an OC a "step up" for him? lol.

He comes up with the offensive game plan but does not call the plays during the game. I really don't want this guy as our HC. He has Cam Moron written all over him!

    I wouldn't go that far.

edit: i'm on the flynn/philbin band wagon at the moment. We are literally scraping the bottom of the barrell with our choices for HC's TBH.....and I really don't think he's a bad decision. A lot of the GB people clamor about his heavy involvement and proven worthiness, as opposed to what some people say here. As I said he may not call plays but still has a big impact on what is a pretty damn successful run with GB overall.
