FWIW, they are going to let Kyle Orton walk as a FA.

I know Orton is not exactly Drew Brees as a FA however IF we were ready to offer a #3 pick and a huge contract prior to 2011, why would they pass on him now?

because we are less desperate and know that Orton offers absolutely nothing that we don't get from Matt Moore.
I understand your logic, but I hope you don't start up the Kyle Orton discussions again. He proved once again that
he is nothing but an average QB that is clearly not worth the money he's demanding. Ireland is lucky that
he didn't cave to Orton's contract demands.

This team could do worse than Orton, but it would be nice to have the sights set a bit higher than that at this point.

If you're talking starters, we couldn't do much worse IMO.
-Colts, JAX, Cleveland, Tenn, and maybe Wash could use Orton as the starter.

I'm actually thinking more along the lines of every team needs two QBs of decent quality in today's NFL. He could be one of those two, but say Moore and Orton as a pair doesn't offer me too much excitement.

Oh sure, however with our draft positioning, he could be a good option.
