Seriously this is starting to piss me off. While I do respect the fact that Jeff is "torn" between the two sides Ross needs to tell him the deadline for a decision and move on if not. Alot of the coaching vacancies are being filled now with a few of our interviews being taken off the market. If Jeff holds out and than decided to go to the RAMS and were left with nothing viable I see us going to Bowles, but in all honesty hes not going to build this team into a juggernaut it's going to take more than just maintaining the ship and hoping the last few games were an indication for next year.
Who cares about Jeff Fisher? His offense is full of **** and this team wants a good/explosive offense. CHIP KELLY IS OUR GUY!
Armando says he has a source that says he will decide today, so maybe today or early tommorrow we'll know. You're right though he needs to get on with it. My hearts not broken about Mike Mularky though, In fact I think most here are pretty damn happy we didn't have to go down that road. Of course, that's usually when crap bites us in the butt.
Reports have always been Wednesday since the weekend. Lombardi said this morning it will be today. I don't know if he's torn. He may be getting his ducks in a row, gauging potential assistants, etc.
Well I understand that Phinatic but Ross seems sold on Fisher and hes his #1. I personally wanted Philbin and Matt Flynn but recent issues seem to have prevented this from every happening.
Patience is a virtue. The guy is making one of the most important decisions in his life so he has a right to take his time about it.I would do the same .Damn the torpedos from impatient fans.
Rumor is, (RUMOR) that the Dolphins have a contract in place for Fisher and the announcement could come this afternoon. Don't ask me to provide a link. Again, this is a rumor.
Fine with me. It give them more time to interview more people adn hopefully get the right person. Hopefully.
We've interviewed several others since Fisher, and I'm sure Ross/Ireland have been honest w/ them (you would hope), saying, "Fisher's our guy, but if he doesn't come here, we will go with one of you." My guess is, they already know who Plan B is, and are ready to execute it should Fisher go to the Rams. For me, I hope Plan B is Zimmer. You watch, while I hope Fisher says yes, if he says no, we'll be announcing plan B at a press conference Thursday afternoon.
As much as I would love for Fisher to make a decision already, Fisher would be foolish to just straight into a coaching situation. He has to weigh his options, especially considering that he has to decide to between us and The Rams. Just saying.
Find out today I hope. I would like to see him be our coach, never won a ring but came close, still hungry, fire burning, good disciplined teams. Side note -- LOL @ the "similar threads" at the bottom of this one.
I agree with everything you said. I think people who don't want Fisher are severely missing the boat on his time in Tennessee.
Anyone else feel this will be anticlimactic? I've never seen people get riled up over someone that is just so, blah....... I'm sure I'll be happy if he signs here, but it won't be the end of the world if he doesn't.
For me, the biggest reason I want Fisher (besides the fact I believe is very underrated, especially around here) is that the other candidates that have been mentioned do absolutely nothing to get me excited.
Considering the alternatives.......I'd be upset if we didn't get him because I feel he would be a good fit here. I really want some stability at the HC position.
Yeah, kinda. I'd also like for them to have those feathery handcuffs, cuz, you know, real ones tend to chafe.
I am not a fan of FIsher because of his conservative style but when I see the alternatives like another ex cowboy like Zimmer I would much rather have Fisher. We need to break free from the Cowboy tree IMO.
The problem with that is our GM is an ex-Cowboy. As long as he's around the Cowboy tree will never be far away.
Tony was conservative too and he let Daboll come in and wing the heck out of the ball. I hope Fisher realizes some of what he was doing prior just wasnt working (hence no ring) and that he may need to tweek some things. I really hope he looks into keeping Daboll, but I may be in the minority with that.
Why? He finished his visit with the Rams on Sunday. It's been less than 48 hours; oh, and Lombardi said that Fisher would decide within 48 hours after his visits were done. So Fisher will likely decide today. Whether or not that's announced is another issue. I know we're sick of the media speculation, but that isn't Fisher's fault.
Agreed. While I want to know who our next HC is as much as anyone, there really is nothing wrong with what Fisher is doing. Hopefully for him (and the Dolphins if he chooses us), he's making a decision on what he'll be doing and where he'll be living for the next 10+ years.
LOL This thread and your sig Dorf are the perfect welcome to anyone wanting this Head Coaching job. Whomever we hire will get more than a mouthful of the same from many Dolfans. I bet he can't wait to be the fourth stooge.
What's the rush? The draft is in April, and I'm sure many guys he would want on his staff can't be hired until after the Playoffs....
The rush, as has been said already and is self-evident, is that if he says no, we are losing opportunities to hire someone else.
Thats saved for Tony already just have to motivate myself to edit him in PS I was under the impression Fisher was to make his decision before now. I Know it's only a few days more but I don't want to be used again like we always do to make him more money somewhere else. I'm not a huge fan of Fisher's style but he did build some pretty decent teams in Tennessee and he knows the AFC and what we need to win. I just hope he doesnt fist pump! OH crap I just found these...
Unless you're disappointed about Mularkey, I'd relax. It should get announced today. Winston Moss will end up in Oak, leaving no other vacancies if Fisher chooses St. Louis.
''I'am making my case for Jeff Fisher to be our next coach... I just wanna quote an opinion from a poster on this board, I think he nailed it..Larry is his name.. ''I live in Nashville, so I have heard a lot about Jeff Fisher over the years. I know him probably as well as any NFL fan, and I can tell you the guy is a 'real' leader like Shula was/is. His guys not only like him, they respect him. Fisher is also a no-nonsense head coach. He won't do silly motivational campaigns about feeding a wolf or hanging up lobster traps in the locker room. He's honest and genuine with his team. He doesn't try and 'trick' them into being motivated. He's a great game manger, isn't afraid to take risks, isn't a jerk that rubs anyone the wrong way, and is respectful of other teams and players. From what I gather, the two reasons Fisher left the Titans were: 1) Bud Adams forced the team to select Vince Young. Fisher tried his best to coach him up, but Young is/was an idiot with awful technique. Adams could not admit how wrong he was, and probably still can't. 2) Bud Adams always held a strict anti-nepotism policy. Fisher respected this policy, until Adams hired his own grandson in the front office. Fisher felt this was hypocritical... do as I say, not as I do. So, since Fisher 'technically' had it in his contract to hire anyone he wanted, he brought in his own son. People need to understand the owner we're talking about here. Adams is a guy who was fined by the NFL for flipping off opposing fans from his visitors luxury box. The guy is a low-class bonehead. Believe me when I say that Fisher and his staff were hamstrung by him. Hopefully Ross wouldn't do the same. Jeff Fisher, IMHO, when he returns, will be one of the best coaches in the league. He was about one yard from winning a Superbowl. He still wants it. He also had an 11-7 record vs. Cowher's Steelers.'' I especially like that liitle factoid at the end...Head to head baby, in the toughest division in the league..He came out on top against the guy that seemingly gets the most love...Head to head is no joke.. So if you want to post why or who you want, I'am sure somehow, Mr. Ross will be reading.. For me, because I'am not hearing how Cowher or Gruden Want to be our coach, and I am hearing how Jeff is interested, then that's really important you know?..We don't wanna have to convince a coach to come here, we've already done that with Saban, Parcells, and Jimmy Johnson...We want them to want to be here, and want to be here long term, and will not run from their responsibilities before the mission is completed, we don't want someone who has alterior motives for the job, we want someone who will bleed aqua.. Fisher has been gone for a while, his first love the titans, are now a distant memory, he came so close to winning it all, so you know the desire is there, he kept the job for a very long time, and when he left, the titan fans respected the hell out of the man, and to me, that says a lot.. The man is respected in this league very very much, and playin and winning in this town, and in that stadium, is going to be a monumental task, so for me, I would like to go on the record and say, Mr.Ross, I would love Jeff Fisher to be our coach..
Who? To where? Mularkey? The only other opening right now is Oakland and TB, and Moss Marty are the front runners there. The only thing being hurt is ability of someone other than Fisher putting a staff together.
Sorry fellas- I like what Matt Moore did this season, but going in to 2012 with Moore penciled in as your QB without the position in the draft to acquire true 1st round talent doesn't inspire me.... Regardless of who we hire..
