Well, it wasn't an actual report. More like Berardino thinking outside the box. But it definitely makes you think and temper your enthusiasm.
I'd love to have Finnegan. His penalties were way down in 2011 and he is a top 5 corner in the league IMO. Actually looking back over the past 4 years, he wasn't bad on penalties in any year, compared to his peers. 5 or 6 max in any given year except in '08 when he had 8. He's durable, over 1k snaps every year. Generally low comp pcts on passes to the man he's covering, and low passer ratings into his coverage as well.
so was Richie Cog. Fisher will love him anyone that displaces Sean Smith from playing on the outside is welcome to me. We could use a little attitude on D, imo
It's all good! My suggestion for your enshrinement of Tony in your Sig, since the other three in the toon are kicking a FG have Tony pumping a fist in the background! Pure-Gold
If the press conference to announce the hire was slated for 4:30, a bunch of other sources would be all over it..
I could care less if some poeple in the league think Finnigan is dirty. If he can help Miami win games and doesn't get alot of stupid pnealties that hurt the team, I'm all for signing. Davis and Finnigan could be the best CB tandem in the league
Yeah, no offense to Dorf, but this is a ridiculous complaint. Fisher finished his interview with St. Louis on Sunday and we were told to expect a decision Wednesday or Thursday. I don't see how us not knowing his answer by Wednesday morning (when the thread was started) is any example of Fisher of taking too long to commit.
Assuming Finnigan and Marshall can co-exist on the same team. Between those two and Vontae, there'd probably be a few issues to resolve.

Wasn't this almost exactly what happened last year? I can't remember if Ross's pursuit actually caused the 49ers to up their offer.
I think that was a different situation. Harbaugh wanted to coach the 49ers all along, and I think San Fran knew that. I do know that Miami offered him more than San Fran, where he got $5 Mill a year.

OK so it's been another day and still we have no official word on where this guy wan't to go.. I mean can anyone please tell me what black cloud is hanging over the stadium right now?? I agree the man needs time to decide but this is stupid crazy and speaks about his character. We have been down this road before with people coming in not 100% sure and fired up.. Jimmy Johsnon, Nick Saban are the latest, but man I am now starting to think I don't want they guy. The more I see and read about him and his style I can't see why Ross is targeting him as his number 1! Hes barely above .500 with like 12 years of coaching been to the playoffs like 5-6 times in that time frame and never won a Superbowl. Now of course he could come here and turn things around but with all that stability he was never able to make it work how the hell is he going to do that in Miami!??? He doesn't have a QB as good as the ones he had for years... Listen he does bring some good things, knows the NFL and the teams, and doesn't have to learn it all as we go, but for Jumping Lizards Sakes Jeff crap or get off the POT!!
Speaks about his character? You're right, it does.....it shows he won't just jump to the money, he's making the best decision for his family and his coaching career.....if he comes here, we are very lucky, because that means he knows this is the best place for him to succeed.
More proof that journalism today and the "information" it provides is often on the same level (or below) of any message board.
I am more concerned that final say on player acquisitions are given to Fisher than him taking time to decide. No real hurry to be honest , nothing imminent , 3 or 4 days or a week plus doesn't greatly affect anything . Staff hires will be fine if Fisher decides to come here , but not on board if he gets final say , that doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies to be blunt .
I still say that the longer he takes to decide the better our chances are of landing him. If you look at each point, the Rams have a decided advantage in almost every category. In those that they don't have a decided advantage, it's even. The ONLY decided advantage the Fins have is strength of current talent overall, not including QB position. We are closer to being ready than the Rams... The only other issue at hand that we do have an advantage on is the fact that the Rams have left open the chance that they may move the franchise, something Fisher doesn't want to be a part of... In fact, Kroenke may be trying to sell Fisher so hard because he wants to use Fisher's experience as the coach that has been thru that process before... So the fact that he's 'taking longer to decide' is not necessarily a bad thing for us. One other thing, he made it known all along that he'd be taking most of the week to make a decision, that this wouldn't be a quick process for him. Ross and Kroenke both knew this from the beginning.
Listen it's obvious when someone can't make up their mind it usually means they are not 100% sold on something. That means hes not excited and this isn't his dream position. The money is probably luring him in, but if his heart isn't here than lets move on. He might not be the right man for this job. Saban gave us half effort only to leave when a better position came open. In the Next year or two when San Diego replaces Norv Turner what will he do? This is the NFL and things need to happen on this team. Assistant's coaches and players need evaluations, new schemes need to be designed and implmented based on the talent, The draft is coming up and we got free-agents to retain and get.. If for some reason Jeff says now I need a few more days to make this decision than Ross should just say no you don't we made a decision and move on... I have a feeling this is leverage and he may decode to wait for a year out again and see whats hot next year or he might want to go to Indy or see if there is more money to be had... Hes not Belichick Shula, or Jimmy Johnson though hes got an offer on the table better than any of them! He doesn't have state taxes in Florida, better weather but he can't decide? Sorry if I seem inpatient but we got lots of issues to fix and if he decides to pass well than were in real trouble..
Wow dude, just wow. You really need to relax about this or your going to give yourself an aneurysm over something that isn't a big deal. Again the guys has taken 2 and half days. Go run around the block, or go have a smoke. Do something. Relax and just wait.
I think Fisher has made his mind up, but since both jobs have their pros and cons, he's happy if he winds up in his 2nd choice. He is using this wisely and setting himself up to succeed wherever he chooses. I expect, given the time this has taken, for the "loser" in the Fisherstakes to hire a coach within 12 hours of Fisher's decision.
Why does everyone keep saying 2 days it's not 2 days he interviewed with them 9 days ago.. 9 DAYS, and Ross had conversations prior to that. I don't care about St. Louis interviews we made an offer 8-9 days ago I'm pretty sure and it's getting old.. I wish we would have gone with Philbin and Matt Flynn myself but man it hasn't been 2 days since he talked with us..
I'm sure if Jeff Fisher were here, he would apologize for taking some time on a decision that will probably affect his life for the next 10-15 years.
It doesn't matter who and what YOU care about. It matters what Jeff Fisher cares about. And finished his interview with St. Louis on Sunday evening. So, in all reality its been 3 and a half days. It's like you never had wait for anything in your life.
It's ok to be impatient. We all are at this point. But you're really reaching for reasons to be upset with a guy. I've taken much longer to think about jobs much less important than the one Fisher has to make.
Yeah, we're all getting antsy about his decision. And I'm not sure if an offer was made 8 days ago when we interviewed him, just the interview happened. The Philbin thing has to be set aside due to his family circumstances right now and there is no guarantee that Flynn will magically come with Philbin no matter who hires him. He may be tagged, he'll be a high priced FA and may go where the money is...that may or may not be here. He may not want to go where Philbin goes... At any rate, all we can do now is wait some more...getting upset won't make Fisher hurry his decision up at all....
Mike Freeman tweeted he's been told one of things slowing things down is Fisher's insistence on personnel say. He replied to someone who asked how much power he wants with, " he wants it all or almost all".
Well that would imply Ireland is an obstacle in our coaching search and we all know that cant possibly be true.^
