We are going into the draft with some needs and one of the biggest is a play-making Tight End. The Jets just hired Tony Sparano as OC and he will want a big blocking TE, so why not trade Fasano for Keller straight up?(maybe a late round draft pick as well). The trade makes sense for both teams and maybe we could just get another blocking TE in the late rounds of the draft for a good back up.

The Eagles traded Mcnabb to the Redskins, it's not impossible to trade within the division.

I'm not sure the Jets would want to trade him though. He produces for the most part and keeps his mouth shut.

Yes, but Keller is not particularly big and not a good blocker, he is a playmaking TE and Sparano likes those big blocking TEs like Fasano, I'm not saying the Jets want to get rid of him but I think Sparano will ask for a trade like that of some sort.

Charles Clay and Fasano are a fine tandem, imo.

I don't think so IMO, we need a good goal line QB to score in the Red Zone, Clay is our H-back in our offense and I don't think he's big enough to be that playmaker we need.

You do realize Fasano has only 1 less TD and a higher ypc than Keller over the past 2 years, right? Yea, Keller has more yds and receptons, but he also has twice as many targets over the past 2 years.

I sure as hell wouldn't want the jets to have Fasano. If we want another TE, that's one thing, we can draft one. But I'm not giving up a TE who I know is very good all around for a TE I'm not even sure is a better player.

You know too Keller is one the absolute worst run blocking TEs, and if we get Fisher, you can figure he'll put some emphasis on run blocking at TE too. Besides we may have our own Keller in the making with Clay.

Keller and Clay are both 6'3 and both go about 240-245 lbs.

That would be a bad trade, Keller can't block worth a like and Fasano's numbers are pretty equal to Keller.

Why would the Jets trade the target that Mark Sanchez seems most comfortable with?

McNabb also went to the Redskins and sucked.

EDIT: Clay has looked pretty good in limited time. If they insist on adding a TE. Fleener might very well be available in round 2.

An H-Back and a Tight End are either/or prospects, and I don't see why Clay isn't big enough. He's already a much better blocker than Keller.

Clay is about the same size as Dallas Clark and Chris Cooley were when they came into the league. Heck, Keller is actually an inch shorter.

Clay showed he can get down the field this year IMO.

I wouldn't say that. The Patriots traded Drew Bledsoe to the Bills. Worked out nicely for the Pats.

Anyway, if we're going to trade for a TE, I'd prefer to get Jacob Tamme as part of a trade for the 1st overall pick. Tamme flashed incredible receiving skills in 2010 when Dallas Clark went down.

Clay looks smaller or at least plays smaller. our 2 TE spread is pathetic imitation of the Pats

Clay doesn't in any sense play smaller than Keller. Keller is one of the biggest ******* in the league when it comes to blocking. Clay isn't a great inline blocker, but he's nowhere near as bad and is a legit lead blocker.

I don't want Keller. He's not that great of a blocker and rather soft for a tight end.

Keller presents himself as a bigger target in the passing game, imo. Clay looks more like his FB label than a TE at times. I'm not advocating for Keller btw

We're probably just better off getting a tight end in the draft and having Fasano as a nice backup blocker.

I still don't see how that means anything about trading within the division? The Eagles made A smart trade right before Mcnabb started going down hill and were lucky to grab Vick in free agency.

    Keller
109 Targets for 65 Recptions, 815 yards, 5 TDs, 7.4 yards per target
    Fasano
45 Targets for 32 Receptions, 451 yards, 5 TDs, 10.0 yards per target

The only difference I really see is that Keller was thrown to much more often. Even then, Fasano still managed to score more touchdowns. Bizarre.

Well the TDs are easy to distinguish, as most of us know Marshall isn't the greatest target right now in the endzone, so our only targets are really Bess Clay and Fasano unless we run the ball. Where as the Jets last year had Plaxico Burress and Santonio Holmes in the redzone to throw to.

It's not an excuse. This isn't kindergarten, this is a forum for Dolphins fans with opinions, their should never be a case where someone needs to use an excuse, everyone is entitled to their opinions. I still feel Keller is a very good Tight End and I don't have a problem defending it.

How do you know that the next head coach for the Dolphins will not want to keep Fasano for his blocking abilities? Until a new coach is hired, as well as a new offensive coordinator, I think it is way to early to be projecting what needs the Dolphins will have at the tight end position next year. Also I doubt if the Jets would trade Kellar for Fasaso, straight up. I think if the Jets were even interested in making a trade for Fasano and the Dolphins did want Kellar, the Jets would want more then a late round draft pick to make this trade.

I would rather see the Dolphins keep Fasaso for his blocking ability and draft a top college TE in the early rounds of this years draft.

Well, my opinion is that this makes about as much sense as the farmer who sold his farm so he could buy the tractor to plow it.
