Amen brother......this would be the best scenario for the Phins. Putting all bias aside. Jeff Fisher is an 8-8 coach. Of course he could be a 10-6 coach with all the excuses made for why he has only had 6 winning seasons out of 16. Today is a good day!!!!
Why is it Irelands fault? Apparently Ross didn't want to give Fisher control from the rumors. That make Ross the douchebag.
Again, Fisher hasn't done anything to suggest he'd be any better, imo. And I could care less if Dez Bryant's mom is a whore. He sure looks like a home-run right now too, doesn't he?
you have twitter. it is all over twitter. use it. Shefter, Silver, etc..all of them are saying the same thing.
lol No, I don't. They were all saying it looks like he was coming to Miami too, right? Let me know what Ms. Cleo tweets about it and then we'll go from there.
one guy is arguing that it doesn't matter if your team is irrelevant, and others are arguing that it doesn't matter that our owner wants a "name" "experienced" coach, yet is insisting on forcing it upon them to bow down to the all mighty Jeff Ireland. Dolphin fans. Love it.
I'm not unhappy that Miami isn't getting Jeff Fisher. Truth be told, to me he's been a decent NFL coach, one that I respect, but one that isn't necessarily the best fit here. Honestly there's better, albeit less sexy, candidates out there, and I agree with Sam, who suggested just riding with Bowles next season. We could do a lot worse in that regard, and considering he was a key part of the 6-3 finish, it makes a lot of sense. Regarding Ross, I applaud him for sticking to his guns and not giving control to Fisher, who has never really demonstrated he has what it takes as an NFL personnel guy. We've tried that before and it hasn't worked, so I give Ross credit for refusing to go down that road. That said, I'm disappointed we have not been working on a contingency plan, as from the outside it looks like this has caught us off guard (you'll notice we haven't done any head coaching interviews this week). With the way the news has leaked out over our open courtship with Fisher, you almost have to feel like whomever we end up hiring is going to feel a lot like Tony Sparano did last year - clearly the second choice of an owner and GM who can't ever seem to land their first one. That's why in part I want Bowles. The guy already knows what he's getting into, at least concerning this organization's dysfunction, and he would serve as a nice bridge (along with Moore) to a new and complete regime changeover next season. May as well circle the wagons and try to avoid any further embarassment.
And in a sense they were right in that he WANTED to come here and if Ross was willing to compromise a little he would have.
Steve Ross: "Our candidates include Bill Cowher, John Gruden, Jim Harbaugh, Jeff Fisher, George Halas, Bill belichick, Don Shula, Vince Lombardi, Red Aurebach, Phil Jackson, Tony Larussa, Pat Riley, and Knute Rockney, but they must all serve under our lord of operations, Jeff Ireland."
Chud or Bowles. That's it. Ross should stop with the "experienced head coach" nonsense if he is unwilling to wrestle ANY control from King Ireland.
Or he was using us for leverage the whole time and you'd never know the difference. Ryan Clark WANTED to come here too.
If they hire that doofus Zimmer, it will be poetic. Another Dallas Cowboy reject...bringem' on down!!!!
each night for the next several years Ross will say his prayers that he is 8 million dollars a year richer
Maybe between Bowles, Zimmer, Philibin and whoever else we interviewed they know who they want to be the head coach. That's why they haven't done any more interviews.
Yeah, that's the most dumbfounding about this whole thing. It's like shopping for a new BMW on Kia budget.
well the sunshine pumpers can make excuses and the sad fact this franchise is a place that even rookies are not wanting to come to along with veterans and good coaches as well should tell us just how bad the dolphins are viewed.Iwill say it right now if we get stuck with Bowles we wont win six or seven games next year and whith Ireland we wont be getting a difference maker in the draft as well. The earth is going to go on spining around but the last thing a good fan wants is to see his team become disrepsected and that is what is happening with Miami .I just heard two comentaers discuss miami vs the Rams and the one guy didnt even think about it he spouted off the Rams.with Bowles likely to be our head coach there will be nothing to get excited about . we will run the same sorry offense. with the same lackluster qb and Ireland is still a Idiot. Ross needs to sell the team , because he is not making any money and he will only lose money . now if we get a legit coach then I will wait and see but nobody has respect for the Miam iDolphins and that upsets me because we used to be at least respected .
"Dolphins and Fisher could not agree on the structure of the organization" I didn't even want fisher but the fact that same **** keeps getting said is worrisome
Ross doesn't have the balls to fire Ireland. I goes he thinks he's his buddy. But it cost us at least 2 coaches, possibly 4. If Ireland were gone, perhaps Gruden and Cowher would have considered us. Ireland isn't a terrible GM, he's just average. He hits some and misses some. But he is poison, keeping candidates with options away.
Darlington is now spinning that structure wasn't the issue. Laughable. Dolphins FO desperately trying to save face.
Everyone back away from the ledge......take a breath...... It is never as bad or as good as people say. I don't blame Fisher for wanting personnel control after the VY experiment. I also don't blame Ross for standing by his GM(Ireland), but I will say this, Ross's insistence on standing by Jeff Ireland will turn the franchise into a complete dumpster fire. Right now it's in the dumps, just waiting for a match....
