Seriously, if the issue was control, does Ireland have naked pictures of Ross or something that he holds over his head so he doesn't get fired. I'm not a complete Ireland hater, but sheesh, I don't get why Ross loves him SO much here. I mean, what is it about Ireland that he likes THAT much? Puzzling.

I tell ya, though, I'm all for Zimmer. Take a closer look guys, he's a good coach. Or, we could do worse than Boles.

At least with Fisher we were guaranteed 8-8 or his career win percentage or .542

that is easy. He is his chauffeur. The guy steering the ship. His confidant. Ireland will stay until we have our new coach. If it ends up being Bowles then Ireland will stay. As much as you guys wont admit it Ireland is here until a package comes, or a coach that won't come unless he has GM authority.

Maybe Ross doesn't think Ireland is the problem like you all do. Now whether that is the fatal flaw or not remains to be seen.

While I dont want to be this dramatic, it really is true. Listening to Sirius NFL radio on the way home just now, Shein and Miller are laughing their asses off at us, and at Ross. Ross made it clear he wants an experienced, big name coach, etc, etc... That was Fisher. It was obvious he was their #1 target. It's been well documented how much of a joke the rest of the owners think Ross is, and then this happens. The media is going to make us out to be the laughing stock of the league again, and quite frankly its becoming hard to dismiss that as truth anymore.

Maybe Ross has made the right move here, and we won't know until later. However, he has failed again. Its the guy he wanted, the best guy available, and he lost out again. He made his point well known that Fisher was his #1, yet Fisher has now chosen the Rams instead, since Ross was unwilling to part with Jeff Ireland as his GM. The same Jeff Ireland who is also considered a bit of a joke to most people in league circles. This was also discussed as the reasoning by Shefter according to Sirius NFL...

Is it any wonder that in the eyes of the media, and most other on lookers, that its the blind leading the blind here?

I think Fisher was the best selection for us. Simply because of the lack of experience righting a ship, and running a team in our front office from the owner, to the GM, it was the stable, and best choice to move forward and repair the team's image. I think he'd have gotten us to the playoffs much quicker than going with an unknown commodity at HC, but we'll never know. I'm not going to say anything too crazy here, because we still haven't hired anyone, and well... who knows who we're going to end up hiring. I'll reserve total judgement until then, however, it does not look good, and does not provide a real warm and fuzzy feeling right now.

While not the end of the world to me, it sure doesn't look or feel good for this team moving forward IMO. Hopefully Ross' faith in Jeff Ireland, and some of these unproven guys pays off. Again, I'm going to reserve total judgement until we hire our guy, but at the end of the day, its another big, publicized loss, that the media, and league will beat us up for. Doesn't look good. Sure, you can say who cares? I'll tell you who cares though, its the players in the NFL, the coaches, and other GM's that know even more than we know. Where there is smoke, theres fire. If its being talked about that we're a mess, surely players know it as well, and you're going to be left with the second tier free agents again... It's tough to build up that way.

    Anwyays, enough rambling.

Now, go get us a coach Mr. Ross.

Have you seen Fishers draft records? There is a reason he doesn't get full control in player personnel. We need a head coach / GM to team up and work together well.

Firing Sparano early for a head start on the head coaching search has paid off well. Sparano has a job and the Dolphins are coach-less.

Anyone other than Chudzinski or Kelly would be disappointingly boring.

Ross certainly loves Ireland, who has never been at .500 or above as a GM, and during the longest stretch of losing seasons since the AFL days.

We got rid of Sparano, just stick with continuity on the coaching front. Passers and Playmakers in the offseason.

I think I might be about the only Dolphin fan that isn't actually too bothered about this. Fisher, for whatever reason, just didn't excite me as our HC option. I don't know who we'll end up getting, but it's unlikely to be someone I'd like to see either way (Gruden (Jay), Kelly, Saban :shifty:), but as the saying goes "Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change", so it's all good. :)

The problem isn't losing Fisher though, it's how the Dolphins are doing it. They manage to f*** things up royally whenever they try to do something. And it's all for Jeff Ireland...even though we're in the worst losing time period we've ever had as a franchise.

How exactly did they **** up royally? This isn't a repeate of the Harbaugh fiasco where we still had a coach. The dolphins wanted fisher, but on their terms with Jeff Ireland as the G.M. Fisher wanted complete control and Ross didn't want to give it to him. I imagine that if Ross absolutely wanted Fisher then he might have gotten rid of Ireland. However, there must have been something about that which caused Ross to balk.

Ross fails again!!And if the report that the difference was Ross insisting on Ireland having final say, that pretty much rules out any proven winners.Ross just is clueless.

Cowher and Chucky weren't coming out of the TV booths. Fisher wasn't really a winner.
