I don't get this Fisher talk about "letting" Ireland retain power and sharing it with Fisher.. What the hell does that actually mean? Do they flip a coin if they are undecided on a player?

I think the Dolphins were played Fisher, the same man that spent an afternoon meeting with his "franchise" QB. The same guy, that reports said wanted to be on a team secure at the QB position. The very same team in a weak division that nearly made the playoffs in 2010 and has the #2 overall pick that they can trade for a boatload of draft picks.

So before we continue to bash Ross and Ireland, isn't it equally feasible to at least acknowledge that perhaps Fisher used the Dolphins to leverage his play with the Rams, and that these leaked reports of sharing power is a bunch of bullcrap?

LOL, he got what he wanted, a QB. Now all he nees to protect that QB is an offensive line, wide receivers and a defensive front that is not old enough to collect social security. Rams have either the oldest roster or dam close to it with little or no cap room in 2012. They MAY be able to deal a good deal with their first draft pick but I was reading an article on them. Since 2006 and all the drafts they have had, there is only like 8 players left on the team they drafted from 2006 to present time.

Hey Fisher was not a bad hire but lets admit, the man does not walk on water and his combined lifetime record is a shade over 500. As bad as we have been and as many coaches as we have had, we still have a record equal to or better then Fishers lifetime NFL record as a HC. Now, whats that tell you ?

Does anyone honestly believe that if Cowher, Gruden and Fisher were available that Fisher would have still been everyones top choice or number one target ? No, he wold be an after thought to say the least.

Now he has a 'franchise' QB with a rating in the low 70s. On top of that the rest of the team blows. If he coaches really hard he might double their win total to four. Have fun.

Cam and Mueller had 50/50 say over personnel. If there was a disagreement, someone would break the tie. Under them I believe it was Wiedmeier who would make the final call.

I means Ross doesn't know how to own a football team.

I think that was the OP's point. Let's not emulate anything from the Cam era. Beyond hating that time in this franchise, it makes no sense to have to call a meeting to decide the simplest of personnel decisions. One person needs to the the "decider" to borrow from Bush.

You can't have two power hungry people sharing equal power on personel decisions. If Fisher wanted final say, then it wasn't about sharing power.. It would be idiotic for us to assume that Ireland and Ross would bring Fisher onboard and strip him of any say or input in the process. What this power play means to me is that Fisher wanted full control with Ireland running the scouts and for whatever reason Ireland was retained in his position and they failed to cede to what Fisher wanted.. I don't buy for a second that Fisher was willing to split power 50-50 which means nothing in the real world.

If Fisher wanted full power IMO Ross made the correct decision.
No coach should be handed that period.

That's a fine argument to make. If that's the case, Ross should have known that's what Fisher wanted and if he was unwilling to give it, he shouldn't have made Fisher his #1 coaching choice to be hung out to dry like this.

Once again, Ross miscalculated the Twitter universe and all the spin..

Yet from the start, it appeared Fisher was leaning towards the Rams despite the media spin..

That's why I said Ross needed to set a deadline last week and make it clear that if Fisher didn't make his decision by Wednesday that the team was moving on...

lol..funny Rush, I just posed the same exact question in another thread, ''mutual power in personnel''......say what homie??

My philosophy is the liklihood of Jeff Fisher being as good of a talent evaluator as he is coach is slim to none, thats why it normally doesn't work out, and thats why they have GM's and scout's in this league who get paid, and who don't fu## with coaching..

Puff daddy can produce the sh&^ out of a track, but he can't rap worth sh^%..

Maybe it's just me, but if I were an owner and thought about the remote possibilty of firing my HC, I would start lining things up when I had the first thought.

But, be it as it may, with the pool left available, we might as well stay with Todd bowles unless he's hired elsewhere. he can't be anyworse than we've had lately but of course it wouldn't be fair to him knowing that he would be gone as soon as one of the "elite" become available. But of course, I'm not real big on ex-coaches that much anyway. i had enough of it with the JJ experiment.

  18. I just want these guys to do their due diligence and find the guy that fits this teams needs. It could be a former HC that was or was not considered successful in the past, maybe promote a promising assistant, take a look at people in colleges, hell I don't care if they hire a ticket scalper outside the arena for the lingerie league as long as they can produce wins on Sundays.

I don't understand this "screw it" mentality that just because they did not get their first choice that we should just settle on Bowles. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with him just saying they need to keep turning over rocks and digging around to find the right fit for the team. It very well could be Bowles but lets not just start saying promote him in a knee-jerk fashion.

IMO Ireland's job should hang in the balance of this hire. Even if Ross makes the call and he bases it off of Peterson's advice. Jeff Ireland should be evaluated based on his opinion of the hire and he should also be evaluated on finding us options at the position to pursue and his ability to negotiate and sign whomever they decide they want. Not blaming Ireland buy they already missed on their first selection 2yrs in a row now.

I think I might even be supportive of Ross cutting ties with Ireland here and offering Polian his job. There is just so much insider knowledge that we are not privy to know for us, the average fan, to accurately lay blame at anyones feet. To me, this all reflects poorly on the CEO of the franchise. Whether its still Widmier or its someone else these days. I have been beating this drum for a long time now our front office personnel is our biggest problem.

This team runs into way too much misfortune to dismiss it all as "bad Luck". There is more to it and it seems like it started after WH bought this team and it has steadily grown into a bigger and bigger dark cloud that has hung over this team ever since.

Anyhow thats my two cent's worth of frustration. I was never all the big on Fisher being the coach here. I did not hate the pick nor did I love it. I adopted a wait n see attitude toward it. Whats frustrating about this for me is that this was the guy they decided they wanted and they failed to get it done. Even if this was a case of Fisher using us to leverage the Rams it reflects poorly on our organization that they did not identify that was what was going on and they come out of this looking like the losers. I am so frigging tired of our failures outnumbering our successes. I have been a fan of this team for over 30 years and it wasn't like this when I first started cheering them on. I use to be proud to be a Dolphin's fan. Now I'm numb from consistently being disappointed and let down.

Maybe I am just a spoiled fan because I had the good fortune of seeing Shula on the sidelines and people like Czonka and Marino take the field representing us every Sunday. I am just so tired of having to settle for leftovers. F/U Wayne H and thank you for having mercy on us all and finally selling the team and legacy that you destroyed.

    Rant over!

If Fisher did what so many are saying by using the Dolphins then "why" is he now in negotiations with the Rams on a contract?

Using the Dolphins would have entailed Fisher setting the contract demands by which he would agree to coach the Rams and telling the Rams take my offer or I will coach the Dolphins.

As usual, it appears to me the media and fans have jumped to conclusions about what actually took place and treat it like their made up version is fact.
