Although I absolutely loathe the idea that Jeff Ireland is the Man that runs my beloved Miami Dolphins, I have no choice but to accept it and hope he can prove me wrong.
So the next step is to find a head coach willing to work under him.
I think we can all agree that at this point it will most likely be co-ordinator who, more than likely hasn't been a HC before. That rules out Brian Billick (although he was already ruled out because he owes Ross 40 million bucks:rolleyes:).

The candidate we know have been interviewed include, Mike Zimmer, Dave Toub, Joe Philibin and Todd Bowles. none excite me, however I know each guys is like by some of you.
Personally, I would like to see Tom Clements and Rob Chudzinski get interviews. I'd love to see Clements get hired and bring Flynn to Miami. I know some you like the idea of Flynn and some don't. To each his own.

So, who does everyone else want as the next Head Coach and why. It can be a name listed above or someone else, doesn't matter.
I just want to get some names and reasons floating out there and get on with the offseason.
Let's put the embarrassment, outrage, indifference, or how ever you feel about the "Fisher situation" behind us and look forward to other matters.

    Still say Brian Billick.
I have a feeling it won't be a coordinator. It'll be someone who has prior HC experience. Marty Schottenheimer. Wade Phillips. You've been warned

It won't be Billick until he pays back Ross.
And if it's Wade Phillips, I'm done.
    Seriously.

As a DC, he's one of the best... as a HC, he's one of the worst. Maybe he turned down the Bucs today because the Dolphins called and expressed interest? I'm just sayin...

It's going to be an assistant. I'd prefer that assistant have 7-10 years of coaching experience in the NFL. Toub and Zimmer fit that criteria. Philbin and Bowles are borderline. I should specify... 7-10 years of coaching a unit. Assistant tight ends coach/quality control means you're a glorified intern.

They could have and did interview Packers assistants during the bye week. The same could be said for the Patriots, Ravens, and 49ers. I think the chances of it being a coach on the Broncos staff is slim. That leaves us with the Giants and Saints and this leads me to believe that the main candidate is Kevin Gilbride.

Given that Ross talked about how he prefers hiring a young, hungry guy, I'd guess it's Carmichael.

Philbin for HC and sign Flynn makes the most sense to me.

Philbin + Flynn much >>>>> any HC + Moore

It doesn't matter who he hires, as far as I am concerned. He basically has shown by his unwillingness to give Fisher the power he wanted that, Ireland is his man. I think Ireland is a complete waste as an NFL GM and therefore it will be another decade of frustration ahead for Dolphin fans. The Dolphin organization is now officially the new Detroit Lions of this generation. Ross and Ireland will continue to keep this team at the bottom of league for years to come.

It was around 1pm when I 1st heard it. And you are right he has always had good D's & terrible teams as a HC. Between health issues and the impression that he likes being with the Texans hopefully he wants to stay.

Screw it, give it to Marty Schottenheimer for four years and let's go 14-2 or something. Gives us four years to groom another coach.

I just want this misfortune to end, quickly.

Dude, the guy just lost his son, no way he can focus on football. I'd expect he'll need a year or two to deal with it before he is ready to try being a head coach. The combination of Philbin and Flynn would have been interesting, but if Flynn is not in a offense very close to what the Packers run? I'm much less interested in him.

I'm not sure how to feel about not getting Jeff Fisher. He won't be a bad coach at all, but I doubt he wants to run a pass happy offense so favored by NFL rules now. So he would get us around 9 wins a season, but never good enough to win a Super Bowl. I'd rather swing for the fences with another coach and either we flame out and get a top 5 pick or we become a very good team.

  21. What I heard is that Bilik has 0 interest in coaching anymore. He is a lazy TV personality and likes it that way.

Whoever we sign will be a rookie head coach most likely so it's not like we'll have much to go on. Just have to hope Ross and Ireland take their time and do their homework so they make the right choice.

I like Zimmer but everything I'm hearing about Dave Toub is very intriguing. A real leader I hear. That's exactly what we need. I feel Zimmer fits that as well. Those would be my top 2 choices.

Some people are putting a lot of faith in Ireland to run an NFL team, not just making personnel decisions but probably steering Ross toward the coach who he is most enamored with. I am not so sure I trust Ireland to make all of the decisions and to fine tune a new stable of coaches. Maybe Ireland has made some good moves with personnel but he has also presented himself as an arrogant person who is prone to make stupid mistakes from time to time. He hasn't been weaned from Parcells long enough to give him the keys to the Bentley.

Can you show me a better pedigree leading up to a first timer GM job? Don't confuse arrogance with confidence.

..........and BTW the kid asked for the whore question when he referenced his father as a "pimp" in a professional interview.
