If we are gonna hire a DC for HC, why not a good one?

he has Miami Ties as well, the players love him, and his team plays an intricate 3-4 relying on coverages and pressure.

    Why haven't we contacted him?

I assume by the thread title that you are implying Zimmer is not a good DC? I'd definitely have to disagree with that.

I'd also like to point out that being a good coordinator =/= being a good HC. See: Cam Cameron. Also, I believe Mike McCarthy had the 32nd ranked offense before being hired by Green Bay?

That said... I know nothing about this guy.

    Thank you.

I must say, Philbin is the most interesting name out there to me, because he is a coordinator in the truest sense of the word. He doesn't call plays, he devises the offense and its philosophy and then delegates. That's a HC.

We've had our share of disagreements lately but I tend to agree with you on this. His duties as OC in Green Bay are very similar to that of a HC.
Although my gut tells me his head/heart won't be in it right now. How can it be?

Ya Rex Ryan and mike Nolan were great DC's with the ravens too. How are they as head coaches? Ryan has had success but the jets are the dolphins with a slightly better defense. The offense is horrible. And we all know how Nolan is as HC

Don't worry - NE is going to DEMOLISH the Ravens..
Can you think of an easier route to the Super Bowl than what NE is facing this year? If I was a Jets fan I would be fuming right now..

Yep. The hardest thing for any manager to learn is delegate. Usually because they have done the job themselves, better than most and the mentality remains that if it has to be done correct you have to be heavily involved to the point of doing it yourself.

So many Dolphins fans buying the New England hype machine this year. I guarantee you New England will not 'demolish' the Ravens.

yeah it's going to be a tight game for the Patriots depending on who's defense really shows up. I think Chuck would be a good HC, but why not the Perry Fewell as well?

Perry is a good singer and has a hot wife. I'm down as long as she's on the sidelines scantily clad and he can get Janes Addiction to play halftime shows.

dolphins with a better defense ???? jets offense isnt even close as explosive as ours, we were the 4th best offense in 20+ yard plays, mark sanchez is dreaming of putting this up

What makes you think that? I think the Ravens match up very well against the Patriots. They can run it and control the clock and their defense can bring it. The Patriots have the good fortune of playing in a terrible division. They are the true definition of one dimensional.

They took advanage of a quarterback throwing it places he should not have, into good coverage. The Texans gave the Ravens issues because they run the ball so well, something the Patriots do not do.

Here's the thing though. The Dolphins might not be able to wait that long.

The Senior Bowl is next week, and you'd really like to have a head coach by then for obvious reasons. Additionally, that is where a lot of connections are made and people get hired.

We could see some of the current staff brought back in that scenario though Muck, some units did do a good enough job to merit it in 2011.

What problems? Yeah Houston ran the ball well, but they run on EVERYONE. The Pats aren't gonna be able to run on the Ravens.
I think the Ravens win. Expect to see ALOT of Ray Rice. Ed Reed will make a huge play or two. Last time these two teams met in the playoffs the Ravens won 33-13. I don't think it will be that lop-sided this time, but the Ravens will still get the W.

Philbin might need football more now than ever .... something he can throw himself into, and get away from WIS.

Seems like Chudzinki isn't getting any play .... but if we went offensively -- he'd be my #1 OC to bring on as HC. Problem there is with Daboll (since he replaced him in CLE). Never know though ... the DEN 'transformation' is grossly over-rated ... really, it took that much to run the ball and throw in an option ...

For DC, not impressed with BAL ... if Schaub was there, HOU would have likely won. I'd rather go with Zimmer ...

I still want a D 1st team with an O with big play capability such as HOU, NYG or SF ....

unfortunately, i don't see BAL staying within 10 points of NE .... turnovers will be their only hope.

Flacco is still vastly over-rated, and their O is not explosive. NE will go fat upfront to stop Rice and force BAL to throw - not a huge recipe for success for them.

But the real difference is that BAL won't be able to match up with the TEs .....

We'll have to rely on the NFC to beat the PATSIES - just like in '08

I SERIOUSLY disagree with this! I'm almost willing to lay a wager saying NE is either going to lose, or if they do win, they're going to JUST sqeak by.
