The list of co-ordinators is more inspiring than this.

I was thinking about this yesterday while watching the Giants and Green Bay. I can't help but to be leery about offensive gurus though becoming head coaches. Mike Martz, Cam Cameron and jason Garrett come to mind as offensive "gurus" that were busts as head coaches but then again, there were a few "gurus" that did florish.

I just wouldn't want a completely pass happy offense that relies so much on the quarterback that should he go down, we'd be screwed like the Colts were this season. We did that with Marino and it only got us one trip to the dance.

it's not hearsay, when I see his incompetence with my own eyes. The personal stuff, yes. But as a DC, he has sucked.

The stuff you touched on in the "hearsay stuff" is more relevant to being a successful HC or not, then what kind of a DC he was.

Maybe in Dallas, but he certainly hasn't sucked the last two season in Cincy. In fact, he's turned chicken sh*t into chicken parm.

During his run as Dallas' DC their defense ranked 19th, 4th, 18th, 1st, 16th, 10th, and 13th. That ranked him in the 67th percentile for his 7 years in Dallas. I'd say if that constitutes sucking a lot more DCs sucked worse.

True. But it's not fact. At least we don't know it to be fact.
Hell, who know, maybe it it is.
Problem is we have to trust Ireland to figure that out.

    Marty.

I'd take Billick or Marty in a heartbeat over some rookie.

Especially in a season when I've heard about 4 national guys say there was no hot highly touted young Assistant coach....

Could you elaborate on that because there really isn't much proof, visual or stats-wise that Zimmer sucks. Or is it just an assertion you're sticking with without any real reason behind it.

I used to believe this until the NFL made all these changes that favor the offense. Could you imagine Marino playing with today's NFL rules? I'd bet we would have been to more than 1 SB.

...Singletary? Seriously? Rather just bring him back as a player than a coach.

    Can't win with 'em.

Garrett has been a head coach for 24 games with a record of 13-11. That makes him a bust?

Martz had a 62% W-L record. In 6 years as a head coach he went to the playoffs 4 times, including one Super Bowl and never finished worse than 2nd place in his division. That's a bust? If our next head coach does that well over the next 6 seasons, I'll take that kind of bust any day of the week.
