Hey guys, new here. Im a huge lions fan, but i came here so I can learn a little bit about the Dolphins. Hope you dont mind me joining some discussions. Sorry if this has been asked a few times already, but what in your guys' opinion is the Dolphins biggest need(s)? Im starting to do my mock drafts for this year but I always have trouble when i get to Miami's pick. So any info about the Dolphins would be greatly appreciated.

What little I do know about the Dolphins is you have an awesome LT in Jake Long. I followed him the whole time he played for UofM and was always hoping Detroit would draft him.

I hear a lot of talk about QB being a need, but man..seems to me that Matt Moore played pretty well, am I wrong?

Reggie Bush played well, I know this because i had him on my fantasy team and was glad i did.

    Thats my limited knowledge.

If anyone can educate me a little, especially team needs, Id greatly appreciate it. Being a Lions fan, it seems thats ALL we talk about is team needs lol. Love talkin NFL football.

    Thanks guys

    welcome.

we are actually loaded with talent.

Our QB is inconsistent and we lack red zone execution.

Our biggest holes are QB and parts of our offensive line.

Our best players in order are:

    Long
    Marshall
    Wake
    Davis
    Solai
    Starks
    Bush
    Bess
    Dansby
    Bell

we are close. REAL close. Just need stability at QB.

    Better fans.

    :hang:

For me it's OL, secondary, and OLB. Could def use a few offensive upgrades at WR, RB, and TE also.

We could go several ways with our draft this year. The most likely players in my opinion are:

    WR Kendall Wright
    OT Jonathan Martin
    OG David DeCastro
    OT Riley Reiff

Realistically, I really see us testing the market by trading down a few spots to the 14 or 15 range to be in play for one of those lineman, but picking up an additional 2nd or 3rd. Our needs could change due to Free Agency as well. I also see us using our second or third round pick on a QB that our coach can mold into our next.

I would absolutely love our draft if it looked something like this:
    1st- OG David DeCastro
    2nd- TE Dwayne Allen
3rd- Nick Foles, Brandon Weeden, or Brock Osweiler

The Lions have the best WR in the NFL. No questions asked. Other than that.

I hate to be that guy but it looks like :spam:

welcome. look around the sub forums. good stuff everywhere

There is good talent on the team overall, but is lacking in crucial areas and in positions that are becoming more important in the current brand of NFL. We need an edge rusher, a Free Safety (or even a pair of Safeties for that matter), QB, a Right Tackle or Guard, a #2 WR or possibly a tall, athletic Tight End or maybe even someone that can play the flex position

Most Dolphins fans will find it unacceptable, but the team can realistically have an above .500 season with Matt Moore as the starter providing that some of the positions above are addressed.

As far as predicting what they will do, I have no idea. They can do any of three things: Trade up with the Rams and select RGIII, trade down and target Weeden or sit tight and take the best player available.

After that, if they choose to sit tight and don't draft a QB in that spot, they could be looking at signing Matt Flynn. If not Flynn, possibly a QB battle between Matt Moore and Kyle Orton would ensue. The pitchforks might be out if that happens though

Personally, I would either prefer to trade down or plan to pick in the 8/9 spot.

We need a QB and are about to sign a loser head coach. So basically, we're a mediocre team for the foreseeable future. Other then that, we're alright...

Glad to see you've made up your mind about our new coach before we've even signed him. That mentality is the cancer that brings the Dolphins fan base down.

Glad you're happy with Dan Henning Jr. as head coach. Thank god I'm not of that mentality. While you're praising losses thanks to run first mentalities, I'll be over here "bringing the Dolphins fan base down". And saving my hard earned cash in the process by not spending a dime on this sad sack of **** team. Someone needs to start a catchy phrase for Suck for Barkley since that's going to be in full effect once Mike McCoy is officially named head coach. Well, unless he doesn't get **** canned after the 1st year and then it's more abandoning the QB position in favor of linemen for us.

No official word has come out(yet), and you're already jumping off a cliff? Come on now....

Perhaps the guy tailored an offense to his personnel instead of shoving a square peg(Tebow) into a round hole(typical NFL offense)? If anything that shows a willingness to adapt.

Adapt? Running with Tim Tebow as your QB is not adaption, it's common sense. Adapting is Belichek going from a run to set up the pass offense, to a spread em out passing attack, and now redefining the importance of the TE position. Sean Payton going from the ancient Parcells philosophy to the passing attack they have today, and joining Belichek in the redefinition of of the importance of an athletic pass catcher at TE. That's adapting. Adapting to 2012 is the only adapting I care about. 2-3 years form now when we're looking for the next head coach, we'll all be wondering why Chudzinski or Carmichael Jr. never got an interview as they do well in their head coaching jobs.

Surprised to see another Lions fan on here... I haven't posted on here since week 1. Man, I thought the dolphins had a chance at the playoffs before the start of the season. The Dolphins need to go after Manning IMO.

Wow, you would never make it as a Lions fan lol.

I understand your frustration, trust me. The good thing though is at least you guys have solid pieces to build around. Man, when the Lions were 0-16, we had NOTHING other than Calvin, and even then they didnt have enough common sense to keep throwing him the dang ball.

Theres some real dramaqueens on here. Even I do it from time to time, admittedly.

As some others said...I think our smartest option is to trade down and sure up the line, look for a FS and another passrushing OLB, and a late QB for development or Weeden to compete perhaps? Not sold on the Flynn talk... Don't think we'll be able to trade up for any sane price even if we want to. Theres talk of needing a TE, but I think Charles Clay can do what we need to if we learn to use him well - he could serve well as a TE/Flex guy and occasional H back. A TE/slot WR picked up somewhere could be good too.

None the less - we need more playmaking on D and to sure up the line the most. We have a very solid serviceable D, but not nearly enough game changers on that side of the ball.

Welcome bro, my brother-in-law is from the D, and loves all of the Detroit teams....so in essence I pseudo root for them....all I can say is I love the direction of your team....ever since Millen left they have been going up, and after Ford kicks the bucket it will be even better...

Dolphin fans can you imagine, having a team where their team just made the playoffs for the first time in a decade with a qb who just threw for over 5,000 yards, and 40 touchdowns....

    and oh yeah is 23!!!

Pieces mean nothing without a QB, which we don't have, and most likely won't have as long as we have a clown as our GM, which we currently do.

So glad you can rush to judgment and go ahead and post something so myopic.

Just to see if I am getting this straight, Belicheck and Payton get credit for re-realizing something that has been true for years, but yet an OC who we didn't even hire doesn't get credit for calling plays to the strenghts of his QB?

Gotcha, glad to see you can stay objective.

Pretty much. You're obviously easily impressed if you think there's anything impressive about calling calling the same exact 3 run plays all game, but to pretty much anybody with any clue, there's nothing impressive about that. Mike McCoy is a loser sure to bring Foxball to whatever team is clueless enough to hire him as a HC, if he ever gets that opportunity, which isn't likely once the Tebow hype wears off next year. Bullet dodged, thank you Ross, showing you're not as clueless as everyone suspected you were.
