As for Finley, yeah I like him, gonna take a BOAT load of cash to sign him......

I like this option instead, 2 years older than Finley at 26, and yes got suspended, but the guy plays the position very well.....60 catches for 800 yards in 12 games this year...think about that folks...

And my last thought before I go to work is....

If the man with the money (Ross) gets his way, as evident here by this coaching hire.....

then Roberto Wallace is giving up number 18 when Peyton gets here.....

    /Bry wants to snuggle

Out of the not High Profile coaches this is the one I wanted. Maybe this O-line coach can fix our O-line problems and bring Flynn over to Miami.

He's been in the league for 4 yrs, and this year was the first time he played in every game.

Assuming he brings in a similar offense to the one they run in GB I like it. Spreading things out and throwing it is generally how you score a lot of points in this league. But I'm not sure that should mean bringing Flynn along. I gave a kind of detailed analysis in another thread. But basically I see someone similar to Matt Moore. Decent athlete who can move a bit but won't scramble very effectively. Decent arm and mechanics. But not a very strong arm and not as accurate as Moore downfield. I'm not sure how good he is mentally. But physically he is sufficient, not great.

He was much worse this year for drops. Thrown at 91 times and dropped 12. Marshall was thrown at 138 times and dropped 14 in comparison.
In 2010, Finley was thrown at 25 times in a season interrupted by injury, and had no drops.
In 2009, he was thrown at 71 times and dropped 4. As a rookie in 2008, he also missed most of the season and was thrown at 12 times with 2 drops.

I didn't know much about him before he was a candidate. I now know he's an offensive genius with a calm demeanor and the players love him. I also know he experienced a terrible tragedy with the loss of his son. I'm really hoping he can help us turn the corner. I have faith.

Welcome to the Dolphins, Coach Philbin!

I don't know a ton about him, but I must say, him taking this job with what he has just gone through, and will continue to go through. Shows how much he really wanted a head coaching position. Hopefully he works his *** off and is the next great one.

They both had about 60 for 800, so I just guessed. Don't know which was suspended, and I guess that was a key clue.

As of today, both are 26 yrs old.

Philbin seems like the most logical hire. I think this made more sense than hiring Fisher. We have no shot at Luck and I'm not enamored with RG3 to give up s boat load of picks. Flynn seems like the next best gamble after Luck. Time will only tell if Ross was able to capture lightening in a bottle.

Well, this guy ran an offense that won the superbowl despite being one of, if not the worst rushing team in the league last year. At least we'll have a head coach who should understand the value of the QB, even if our GM doesn't.

As a fan, I'm going to give Philbin the same benefit I give every other Dolphins coach: Competent until proven otherwise. Welcome to Miami, Coach Philbin. Even though you weren't the sexiest (figuratively and literally) of hires, you'll have my support for now.

Thankfully our 2011 draft won't go for nothing since they should compliment the offense Philibin instills, and maybe he'll turn Jerry into a stud RT.

If we run a Packers'esque offense, we'll need an upgrade to our WR corps; trading back for Kendall Wright (Greg Jennings 2.0) wouldn't upset me.

At least we're not taking an offensive lineman with our 1st pick unless he absolutely represents BPA.

The personnel power and final say thing that was such an issue with Fisher is now resolved. Ross has it. He may have supposedly said to Fisher that he didn't want to be the tiebreaker in any disagreement between the head coach and the GM, but by imposing his choice of head coach on Ireland he has taken over ultimate control. I have to think that if Coach Philbin feels strongly about a free agent choice or draft pick, he's going to appeal to the boss, who in effect has bought into Philbin's vision and direction and not Ireland's.

This is going to be an extremely interesting offseason. I am excited now for this team. The balance of power has just shifted. Ireland had better figure out how to work with Coach Philbin.

How do we really know that Philibin wasn't Irelands choice as well? A lot of people are stating that Ross overruled Ireland as gospel, where do we get this from?

I guess it's a combination of rumormongering by the press, believing what we want to believe and seeming common sense. I will be the first one to admit that I want to see Ross pull up his pants and drag this offense kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Obviously someone has to do it.

I think FY said the Colts would be on the hook for over $50 million with Manning and Luck.

Who wants RG3 to learn for 3 years behind Manning? I do.
