That makes no sense....4M for Price, and 15 for Hamels, and Linecum is going to hearing where I am sure that number will be more? Price is a moron is he settled for 4M...

Has to do with service time most likely. Hamels is in year 6 of MLB service time. When Price is at that year level he'll be making that too (assuming he doesn't sign a long term contract or his numbers don't drop off that much). Price made a little over 2 million last year so he's salary doubled. Next year it will probably be around 8 or 9, then the following year at 14 to 16. Makes sense.

As for Lincecum, you can't compare him with anyone else because he's won 2 Cy Young awards and the arbitraitors love awards, 20 win seasons, 100 RBIs, a lot of HRs etc.

It probably has something to do with service time. However, MLBTR projected he would get 7.8, so a nice discount non the less. Hope that savings can get us Pena back.

I highly doubt it. I bet the Sox get 2 "prospects" from the Cubs, one in the 20 to 30 Cub ranking range and another one outside of the Cubs' top 30 prospects. You're not going to see the Sox getting a top prospect since the only example of an executive leaving one FO for another is Andy MacPhail leaving Minnesota for the Cubs and I believe the Twins only got a RPer who never made it to the MLB.

Personally I think the Red Sox should have received a list of players they could choose from BEFORE they let Theo go but then again I don't really know how those types of things actually work. Either way whatever, Theo wanted to leave and the Sox let him.

The Rangers have agreed to sign Yu Darvish to a six-year deal/$60MM range (56M guaranteed)....

question is does this take them out of the Fielder race, or can they offer him an OPT OUT clause in say 3 or 4 years that would interest him in that lineup? I guess the conventional thinking is any signing of Fielder by TEX risks losing Hamilton on extension, etc.

    Still hoping Nats land him.

If I had to choose from signing Fielder or extended Hamilton (assuming the years/money are similar) I'm picking Fielder no doubt about it. Hamilton just scares me due to his background and also he's pretty injury prone.

Police in the Dominican Republic say Fausto Carmona's real name is Roberto Hernandez Heredia, Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes tweets. Dionisio Soldevila of the AP tweets that Carmona is 31, not 28 and Jorge Arangure Jr. of ESPN.com tweets that the right-hander's chances of obtaining a visa quickly don't seem good. Yancen Pujols first tweeted news of the identity issues.

The Indians issued the following statement regarding Carmona: “We were recently made aware of the situation that occurred today in the Dominican Republic and are currently in the process of gathering information,” GM Chris Antonetti said. “We are not prepared to make any additional comment at this time.”

The Indians exercised Carmona's option after the season, so he'll earn $7MM in 2012. The ground ball pitcher posted a 5.25 ERA with 5.2 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9 in 188 2/3 innings in 2011. The Marlins placed Leo Nunez/Juan Carlos Oviedo on the restricted list because of issues related to his assumed name.

It's not clear whether Carmona will be able to pitch in the U.S. by Opening Day.

3 mil for a gold Glover that is going to hit 30 HRs and have an 350+ OBP? 10 mil was to much. But 7 mil is fine

I agree. I'm preparing myself for it. Darvish/Prince or Wilson/Pujols....makes it harder to celebrate the Angels offseason when years/contracts are considered; depending on what Prince gets I suppose.

If Fielder comes to the AL, Jesus......also the longer this goes on, I see the Yanks in play.......however ONLY on a 1 yr deal....

Thing is though who is going to give Fielder money right now, the market is totally drying up at this point, especially after C-Pain raped Tampa....

Boras has to be worried right now...

So "fausto" is 31, awesome....this is the new steroid era problem for MLB, they have to get a handle on Latin ballplayers and the fake ID/age stuff....

Especially in light of this, I bet this is rampant everywhere, they just havent caught on though....it is like a business down there...

Marco Scutaro has been trading to the Rockies for Clay Mortensen. The move clears up money so they Sox could possibly sign Roy Oswalt and/or Cody Ross. I have no opinion on the deal, I was never a huge Scutaro fan to begin with but I wonder who's going to play SS next year. All I know is when I'm asleep tonight Hanley will be there, but when I wake up unfortunately Nick Punto and Mike Aviles will be.
