I'm not on the Ross hate train...but he really needs to up his public speaking and speaking confidence a notch haha. Haven't heard anything that bad since Freshman year of HS... Ireland just comes across as a weasel though haha.
he's speaking from a prepared statement. thanks high school coaches whose example inspred him to become a coach... as well as 12 coaches he's worked with.
At least this guy sounds like something other than a bumbling ******. His first move as HC should be to ensure that the other 2 stay off camera.
Joe thanks all his children for their sacrifices.. He wants to get back to winning a SB.. a feat that hasn't been accomplished in 40 years. going after players with high character, develop them into a team, performing at extremely high level on a consistnet basis. They'll care more about winning than statistics. incorporate aggressive style of play in all three phases... team will play with discipline poise and max effort... organization will provide everything necessary for every player to play at a high level. wow he's talking great right now. that was good stuff
It's a mistake to take the GB Packer playbook and plop it down here in SoFla... will start formulating a plan based on the talent here. Starting to like this guy.
Really like what Philbin is saying. Two things that stick out most are his saying that he will give the players and coaches the resources to develop to their full potential. Also liked how he said he wouldn't just plop the GB playbook on the table here, it is about adjusting to your players. Also loved this. He said we WILL have good QB play.
Q: how much latitude does he have with coordinators? A: I anticipate this to be the last job I'll ever take, phase one will be hiring the staff from top to bottom.. we have some candidates in mind, but no decisions have been made. Q what is approach on west coost offense, will that be here? A: I've been in WCO for nine years and i'm not sure what that means. not going to take the GB playbook and plop it on the desk here. Going to learn the players and their unique talents and will formulate a plan... certain characteristics that will come here regardless... but cant say the whole playbook will come here Q how much of this revolves around what you can do at the QB position? A qb play is obviously very important. QBR differential vs opponent is important. focus not on one individual or any one player. Its about building a team. 53 players, 8 psquad players, staff. got to have good qb play. but not an overriding theme Q: what makes you think this will be different from your predecessors?> A: 10,061 days that I've been at this, been fortunate to learn from a lot of people. winning programs, good teams. And I'm just confident we'll be able to build a team here in Miami Q: what one area does Miami have to get better in? A: not one area, got to look at the team, got to look at roster, just getting my feet wet. Find out build the team.
what's the over/under on how long till someone takes Philbin's quote about not knowing what west coast offense means out of context in a pathetic attempt to bash him?
Q: relationships with players A: always had a great relationship with players, perspective players. Much easier to develop a player that has a desire to be good. Always gotten along with the guys. Always had good success matching up with those people. Teaching philosophy will be demanding but not demeaning. Will be very detail oriented. Going to be thorough, leave no stone unturned. Q: OC calling plays? A: That will be determined stupid media asking same ****ing questions... jesus christ.
One thing I see in this man that I have not seen in a Dolphins head coach in my entire life (JJ was too early for me to remember so Wanny is my first memory LOL) is that he has a very...how to say it. He has a very strong maturity about him. I don't see him getting panicked or not knowing what to do next. I think his many years of coaching have let him see so many situations. You can tell he really has a plan that doesnt start and end with the words "Wing It" or "See what happens next"
