New York Jets allow Brian Schottenheimer to resign, and has allowed Rex Ryan to seek employment elsewhere.

The new leadership group of the Minnesota Vikings have decided to move in a different direction. SHURMUR SHUNNED IN CLEVELAND via ProFootballTalk In a move that shouldn't be much of a surprise, the Browns have announced that they are firing Head Coach Pat Shurmur, effective immediately. New GM Vengeful Odin wasted no time with the head coaching move, noting that "being a head coach and primary play caller is just too difficult in today's NFL." There are rumors that the rift developed over more than just play calling responsibilities, with Odin attempting to get to know the now deposed head coach over a few dozen pints of ale, with Shurmur allegedly responding that he was "more of a wine guy." Rule of thumb folks: When the new boss asks you out for a beer, you drink a beer with him. Shurmur joins a growing list of playcalling head coaches in the unemployement line, including Todd Haley, Jeff Garrett, and Andy Reid. At this point it appears that defensive coordinator Dick Jauron is safe for now, though that could obviously change.
The Lions announce the firing of Defensive Co-ordinator Gunther Cunningham. Jim Schwartz and Scott Linehan will be retained.
So Cleveland is moving up from a Mickey Mouse Offence to a Kermit the Frog O? (Also, Andy Reid doesn't call plays, Marty Mornhinweg does, just saying)
