I enjoyed it. I never watched lost, but I can tell it has some of the similar aspects and styles. It is a nice blending of a cop show and a paranormal mystery. Also Sam McNeil (Dr. Grant from Jurassic Park) is good in his role, and I did like the big guy who played Hurley as he does a good job of providing some light heartedness to the show. The only downside is the show tends to move between 1960 and present day fairly often which can be a bit confusing. All in all I will definitely watch next week. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Yeah, I liked it. Sucks that it had to replace Terra Nova, which I thought was getting better at the end there. Anyway, Alcatraz could be good. It's got some Fringe in it. I'm not too convinced the cute girl cop can act though, she is cute... Hugo does a pretty good job. Sam Neil is always strong. The Lost music is a nice touch, takes me back a few years Sam Neil's character seems to be out of date though. I mean if he was a rookie prison guard back in 63, lets say he was 18... that would make him 68 now. So, Sam Neil can go running up 20 flights of stairs and not miss a beat... but of course you are. Curious to see where it's headed. I knew Sam Neil's character would be tied to 63 occurence. Didn't see the Gupta character being tied as well. As Hugo would say, is anyone elses head exploding?
I just watched the pilot and I am gonna check out the second episode before I get some sleep. It's an interesting concept and I'll continue to watch it... I was hoping it would be similar to Prison Break (all-time favorite FOX television show) as I really didn't know much about the show other than its name... and that it was heavily advertised during the FOX telecasts this past weekend.
random thoughts: -the electrical storm on the night of 3/21/63 was more than just a coincidence -3/21/63 first day of spring? -JFK gave the following press conference on 3/21/63 : http://www.jfklibrary.org/Research/Ready-Reference/Press-Conferences/News-Conference-52.aspx -3 21s are 63.. -Kevin Federleine was born on 3/21
So this is driving me crazy... the actor that plays Jack Sylvane is Jeffrey Pierce. Where the **** have I seen him before? I'm looking at the list of stuff he's been in and nothing rings a bell. Although he did voice work on MW3 Could that be it?
It's not that far off. Sam Neil is 64 in real life. Besides, if he was 18 in '63, he would only be 66 or 67 in the show.
Wish i could go back and watch Lost with my memories of the show erased. Have already watched the entire series twice.
Spoiler I would agree, but that last episode kind of ruined it for me. If I knew how it ended, I don't think I'd want to go back and watch the show.
So we are a few episodes in now, anybody still watching? I will say they have done a good job at making the villians some vicious mother ****ers. Also last nights episode gave us a little bit of a teaser as opposed to what might have happened to everyone.
Finally got around to watching the Pilot last night, as it was set to disappear off of Hulu Plus. The similarities with Lost are pretty apparent, I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, as I got through the whole series in roughly a month and I'm not sure I can dedicate that same level of energy to Alcatraz. Still, a very interesting concept, though it looks like they are going for more "Escaped convict of the week" and not focusing on an overarching serial story ... though obviously that could change as the series progresses. It didn't blow me away like I had hoped it would, but it did pique my interest enough that I'm going to check out the next couple episodes.
It's gotten better each week, IMO. It's slowly getting around to dealing with the history of what happened....
Did anyone see the end of the season? It was quite the cliffhanger... overall I really enjoyed the season and thought the finale was pretty good. I am going to be pissed if FOX doesn't renew this show.
Thank god about Alcatraz... don't care about The River but have not watched it. My roommate likes it though.
I just started watching this show. I got it from a friend's external hard drive. I was truly intrigued at the beginning and the first few episodes. Now I'm quickly getting bored with it. Like "Lost" with the "Black Smoke" monster, they tease you at the beginning of the series and don't address how these prisoners from 1963 are reappearing in 2012, not aging a day and "programmed" to commit crimes? They're just showing more and more prisoners from 1963 and not trying to explain the time warp if you will. Should I keep watching it?
i stopped after 5 episodes, and I heard its not coming back so i had no plans to going back, idk if its worth it. Some shows I enjoyed only being a full season then getting canceled, (Awake) but idk about this one
I liked the premise of the show and would have continued to watch but since they cancelled it, I don't know why anyone would want to go back and watch it for the first time.
