So yeah, I am most likely going to step into the world current gen gaming. So, I'm either going to get one or the other. Which would should I grab?

    That depends on three things.

    1. What do you enjoy more, single player or multiplayer? The 360's multiplayer is generally better, while the PS3's single player is generally better.

    2. How likely are you to buy another console within 2 years? The Xbox 360's successor will likely be unveiled either at this year's E3, or next year at E3 2013. Sony, however, has already stated that they'll probably release the PS4 after the Xbox 3.

    3. Look at each console's exclusive games. The 360 has Halo, Gears of War, Alan Wake, Fable II, and Forza Motorsport. The PS3 has God of War, MLB The Show, Gran Turismo 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy Versus XIII (assuming it still exists), Little Big Planet, and Uncharted. There are other games but those are generally the big-name exclusives. Which roster do you prefer?

I personally lean toward the PS3, but many prefer the 360.

I would consider saving the money and waiting for the next generation in a couple years. This generation is long in the tooth, so it may be better to wait on the next console from Sony or Microsoft (and Nintendo...to be politically correct).

If you don't want to wait, I think Desides gave a very good list of what to consider.

I own both and go back and forth between them. Positives and negatives for both. PS3 involves less nickle and diming and is cheaper to get everything you need to start. XBOX 360 has a slightly better online community. Seems like 360 games lots of times get downloadable content before PS3. PS3 has had some issues (hacking scandal.)

If I were deciding today, I'd probably go XBOX, but I like them both.

PS3 has a fantastic Blu Ray player as well. That's what tipped the scales for me.

You can't really go wrong. I have both but the PS3 has pretty much become a BluRay player only at this point. Even with non-exclusives (I tend to prefer the 360's) my wife and I go for the 360.

A few things to consider: Do you have a Blu Ray player? Do you plan to get Blu Rays? The PS3 will take care of those needs if you don't have one but are going to convert. Not a pressing need for me. If you REALLY can only get one console, look at the exclusives. Is there one or two titles or franchises you cannot miss out on any longer? Take that one. And lastly, do you want to get or play with a Kinect. I have one and its pretty cool. A pricey upgrade, but its just seeing the tip of the iceberg in terms of potential. Vastly superior to the Wii. Haven't played with a Move, but it seems pretty Wii-like. Kinect blows hand controlled stuff away away imo.

You'll get fanboys for each, but like I said, you really can't go wrong. Both are good systems with good titles.

Kinect would be a tipping point with me ... if it worked for wheelchair users, which apparently it doesn't.

Personally, I prefer the PS3. Now I've had mine for years so Kinect wasn't around when I made my choice. The things that swung it for me:

    1. The Blu-ray player - I use it a ton and back then blu-ray players were pricier. It also upscaled regular dvds.

    2. Reliability - I don't know how it is now, but a couple of years back it wasn't even close. The xbox fail rate was way higher than the PS3's.

    3. Feel - I just like the feel of the PS3's controllers better. My fingers fall to the buttons more naturally.

As for the Kinect, I played it once at a party and it was fun but not something I felt was there yet. I saw it as a better version of the Wii, but not that much better. We have a Wii and we played it a ton early on, but I don't know that I've played it in the last two years. I think my son played it once or twice in that time. He does use it to access Netflix in his room, but otherwise it would go unused. I think the technology on Kinect is incredible, but for games I don't think it's at the level that it would be likely to be more than a short-term fad in my house.

If you are going to be doing any online gaming, the 360 is for you. I have both and the 360 does more for me.

Yeah, upon further review, good call on the Xbox360. PSN being down on a SUNDAY AFTERNOON from NOON - 2AM is a pile of horse****.

Frankly, unless you have PSN+ there is little reason to complain.

Those aren't services exclusive to PS3. You can use a PC or laptop to watch on your TV too.

And why don't I have a reason to complain? Because I don't pay for it? I paid money to buy a PS3. They advertise free online gaming. When it doesn't work on a Sunday afternoon (which is when working stiffs like me get to play video games), then they are depriving me of a service.

When someone turns on their gaming system on a Sunday morning and it doesn't work it's annoying. And I have a right to complain. It's as simple as that. I'm glad I own an Xbox 360 so I have other options when PS3 pulls this nonsense. And I'll never again buy a game that's cross platform for the PS3.
