As much as I can't stand the Patriots, at one point, from an objective point of view, I give credit where credit is due. The Patriots USED to be what I would label the gold standard or professionalism and proficiency (or at least in outward appearance), their first two Super Bowl championships and the team's overall demeanor presented that of a professional organization and professional players...even though I couldn't stand them as they were division rivals, I gave credit where credit was due. They always won, but with that success came a sense of "entitlement" if you will. "We are the New England Patriots and we are ENTITIELED to be victorious" Well with that sense of entitlement came arrogance...came a lack of class and if what was posted about refusing to shake the Giants' hands is true, a lack of sportsmanship. The Patriots are anything BUT professionals. They are nothing more than a bunch of whining crybabies. I love it when the Patriots lose, but seeing how this organization has digressed to this extent, thise loss fills me with sense of great satisfaction.
Giselle is only half right, because it wasn't just the receivers. The Patsies choked in the clutch, including her husband.
But Brady made those drives to win his rings. A drop and a circus catch essentially separate him from five. I think he's closer to five than zero, but close is what separates it all I figure. Montana's last drive vs Cincy is what ultimately puts him atop many people's list. 4-0.
I typically don't care whether or not non-dolphin threads end up here, but of all the threads that have been banished to forums that barely exist, a thread about what Tom Brady's supermodel wife said about the Patriots wide receivers stays? And it's one of the most active threads on the board? Am I in bizzaro world?
Well, here's the diff..... Marshall has not consistently made those tough catches here. Maybe he did in Denver, maybe Orton was better than Henne/MMoore (I doubt that, seriously), but maybe....Here he has NOT made the tough catches on a consistent basis. WW, on the other hand has made more of those types of catches than you can count. In fact, he probably will be blamed for missing this one, not because it was a poor throw or that he got his hands on it, but because he's made those circus catches like that 95 times out of 100 and everyone expects it from him. That was simply a bad pass, for two reasons...1) Brady was not under duress when he threw it and 2) WW was virtually uncovered in that seam. There wasn't a defender anywhere near him. Brady simply missed him...it happens... I don't see beating up WW on this one... As for Marshall, he's the best we have, but he still has too many crucial and untimely drops (for an elite WR) and still throws his team mates under the bus too often...
Well, he had to turn his body 180 degrees and was laid out almost horizontal to the ground...I don't call that routine...I think the ball was late from Brady and thrown to the outside, but WW was running the route inside...was he wrong or was Brady ? I don't know, but Brady saw the route he was running. He was about as wide open as a receiver gets in the NFL...Sorry, I see it as a great catch if he makes it and a poor throw by Brady whether he makes it or not...
He has...he's been our most prolific WR since coming here. I'm glad he's a Fin. But fans burn Chamber's likeness in effigy and called him every name in the book for fewer drops and fewer critical drops than Marshall has made.... And Chambers never threw his QB under the bus either...of course, I'd venture to say that Chamber didn't have as good QBs as Marshall has had here either....
This isnt pee-wee football. This is PROFESSIONAL football and when you can get 2 hands on the ball, you're expected to come down with it. Plain and simple.
Just proves fans are stupid. Still I do think Marshall is a much more complete wide receiver than Chambers.
It was a difficult catch, but it is a catch Welker makes 9 out of 10 times. In fact it is a throw Brady makes all of the time.
