It was good to see Mark Moore and keith Byars teaching young college players the ropes I didnt realize that Keith Byars was that big . hell he looks like he could still play. do any of you remember him running in th esnow against Dallas for 40 yards for a touchdown? it was beautiful, baby, was he more of a fullback or was he mostly a wr built like a fullback.? Mark Duper gets no respect and truthfully he desrves to be in Canton even if his numbers are not that great. hell there are guys just recently inducted that were not as good as Duper.
Keith Byars was a BEAST!! If I remember correctly, didn't he have/had the record for the most consecutive games in NFL history with a reception? Seems to me he did, either overall or as a fullback, ut either way, I always remembered that little swing pass from Marino to Byars out in the flat, and Byars being so huge, his legs looked like little stubs when he took off running. My ONLY beef with Byars was his gong to the Patriots and then the Jets after leaving Miami. Stupid Jimmy Johnson!!! Mark Duper? You're absolutely right. He SHOULD be in Canton!! In fact, Duper and Clayton should have been inducted together!
Duper was a huge reason for Leonard Hankerson's success in college and eventually turning into a 3rd round pick. Impressive stuff, actually.
Keith Byars was one of my favorite Dolphins. He used to come into my restaurant often and eat. I remember talking to him about those snow angels and he started laughing. He said that of all the things he did in the NFL, that's the thing that people bring up the most often.
Loved Duper as well, but if Chris Carter and Andre Reed can't get in Duper doesn't have much of a shot. Of the two, Clayton would probably have a better case than Duper.
Duper was the fastest SOB known to the team at the time. He was once clocked at 4.28 in the 40. Ted Ginn Jr. speed. I remember one picture the Herald took of him arriving at the end zone after catching a Marino pass. It was a wide frame picture and he was totally alone in the frame. He had left everyone chasing him that far back in the dust. That may not necessarily be Canton material, but he is certainly one of the top three receivers in Dolphins history. Clayton was not quite human either. My earliest memory of Clayton was a story of when he was a rook in training camp and he was bragging to the vets that he could hurdle a ping pong table the long way, took bets, and proceeded to do it. Warfield was Warfield. That's why he's in Canton.
Mine too and that is why i wanted Dez Bryant so bad because of his size. of course Blackmon and Marshall could be a real butt kicking dual but that is just dreaming on my part.
