http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...aft-mocking-the-top-scouting-combine-warriors I'm not just pimping my own article hear. I'd actually like to hear which players you guys think will blow the doors off the NFL Scouting Combine next week. I believe Robert Griffin is obvious. But I think when you stack up Ryan Tannehill's performance for a quarterback, it's going to be something that would have had people gibbering like lunatics a short 5 years ago. Quinton Coples is an easy prediction, to me. I keep hearing whispers that when all is said and done Dontari Poe's Combine performance at his huge 350 lbs size will really stand out. I tossed in Coby Fleener, Melvin Ingram and Fletcher Cox. Who are some guys you really expect to end up the talk of the town in Indy next week? Genuinely curious.
dwayne allen is stronger then many believe for his size.. hes gonna run that 40 FAST for a TE too.. reiff is going to put up 30+ reps and with his quick feet and great use of hands he should get a top 10 nod i think zach brown will also LIGHT up the 40 and his biggest concern will be coverage in drills.. i expect him to produce 19-22 reps
also, great atricle.. good writing, the only thing i might not agree with is steelers taking a TE in the first. heath still has some miles left and they don't untilize their TE's enough to merrit a 1st rounder on one.i think steelers draft WR actually since they still need to adress resigning antonio brown and sanders.. along with wallace being i believe in a contract year... they are also in cap hell.. hence them probably going with Floyd, Sanu, Jeffrey, to get that plax they desperatly missed.
I don't think Dwayne Allen is going to run that fast to be honest with you, and he's not going to measure that big, either. I don't think we're going to come away from this Combine thinking that Dwayne Allen or Orson Charles are "winners". Riley Reiff...I just don't know that I see a great runner there. I don't know. I would be surprised. Matt Kalil I think could end up showing well on the track but I'm not sure about Riley Reiff. Don't know how much Reiff will bench though, you're probably right, will probably be a lot. I left our Zach Brown because when all is said and done I do not think he's going in the 1st round. He's just not that good of a football player. He's fast, I'll grant him that, but he's not very good. He will definitely be one of the Combine's stars...but I don't think it's going to translate to 1st round standing. Just my opinion.
They didn't, under Bruce Arians. But I think they're going to take a look at some of the things going on especially in New England and in New Orleans, and they're going to have a desire to add some of those mismatch capabilities to their own offense because it really does multiply the things that guys like Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown can do. Wallace is a guy that has averaged in the past close to 20 yards per catch. With someone to hold the middle of the field, Wallace and Brown can both have high averages like that. Hines Ward is a guy that has been able to work the middle of the field over his career and I think we know his career is fading. Heath Miller isn't going to threaten the deep middle. He was a better blocker than he was a pass catcher this year. If you add a Coby Fleener to the mix there then I think you allow Heath to block more, which he's good at doing, and you also hold the seam which makes Mike Wallace that much more dangerous. They are definitely in a salary cap nightmare right now but I have to think they'll find a way to re-sign Mike Wallace.
i came off wrong, by dwayne allen for his size, 6'4-255 his projected 40 is 4.6 which is pretty good movement. he also isnt Horrible at blocking.. also Reiff being 66-300-310 lbs projected at high 4.8-4.9 is pretty good and a projected 4.2 shuttle and 7.8 cone drill is quicker for an o lineman i also don't think Zach will go in the first, he shouldnt, but a late pick team might take a shot on him simply because of his numbers.
I'm disappointed. After reading the title of thread I was hoping the gurus would insulting the rooks.0
I would be very surprised if Dwayne Allen measured out at 6'4". I think he's 6'3". Orson Charles even smaller. Dwayne Allen is actually a good blocker. But at the next level with his size I see him as more of a move guy, an H-Back. We'll see if Reiff actually runs that 4.9 or whatever. I'm not so sure, based on what I see on film.
Holy crap I watched Joe Long the entire week at Shrine practice without putting together that he was Jake Long's brother. Guess the apple fell pretty effing far from the tree.
So are they completely night and day? I didn't here much about him except for this: from http://www.walterfootball.com/draft2012OT.php
I agree with Zach Brown. If he was there in the 4th, I'd think about it, but not before that. But again, that's just my opinion.
I keep mocking him to us every time I run another through... Also Zachary brown is NOt a 4th rounder... He played well at unc and can easily be a second rounder...
I know he'll take a little time to develop, buy why can't we use him as a hybrid 43 SOLB and then just have fun getting creative with him? He's like a sandlot guy IMO, so I'd find a way to get him on the field and just let him make plays. I dont know, I think he has the instincts, vision, and ability to play in space. TBH, personally, I wouldn't even bother myself with any preset plans regarding Irvin's use b/c that would just leave me in a confined, apprehensive mentality. I'd draft him in the 3rd (if he's there) and figure out a game-plan during camp when I can see him up close and with the other guys. He's kinda like Charles Clay IMO. Instead of trying to figure out what specific role he'll play, why not use his versatility to your advantage?
Anyone who has been worried about RG's height and weight should worry no more, the kids size is legit, he's probably a little over 6'2 and he's all of 220, been saying it for months..
I think we are targeting a tight end in this draft, and Iam about as big as Dwayne Allen fan as there is, but that Notre dame game with Fleener last year was sick, the fluidity and speed he possesses relative to his size, is off the charts freakish, I think he might give the combine a run at greatness for a man 6''6 255 lbs...I expect a low 4'6 maybe even hi 4' 5', great shuttle times because of his hips and perfect body, and if that's the case than we need this dude on our team with our 2nd pick in the draft, no ifs ands or buts IMO, but, iam gonna say he doesnt last til the 2nd, looks like a first round pick to me as well as Allen, especially after he rocks the combine..it's ok, i'am prepared to move up a bit. CK made a point about which skillset might better for us, I think he's right, Fleener's explosiveness serves us well opposite of Fasano.
From what I've read you now have both Manning and Tannehill going to the Skins. Seems weird they would load up on QBs with so many other holes to fill.
Dontari Poe intrigues me, and not just because he plays for Memphis which is only about 80 miles from where I live and I haven't hardly seen the guy play any. He intrigues me because of what Miami may do with Paul Soliai. I do know that while Jeff Ireland hasn't taken a nose tackle in the first round ever, he does consider it a core position for the defense. With the news that Miami will be more of a hybrid 3-4 scheme and with Paul Soliai being a free agent, I am going to be very interested in seeing if Miami looks to draft Poe that high to play the nose tackle position while letting Soliai walk. Remember what Kevin Coyle said about stopping the run defensively? The general thought is that it is a good sign that maybe they will try to keep Soliai. Dontari Poe could be another Tim Bowens type.
I have Peyton Manning going to nobody, actually. If he does play for someone, which I doubt, it's more likely to be the Redskins, Colts, Cardinals or Jets than the Dolphins.
Dontari Poe...excellent prospect...insanely stupid Draft pick, IMO. I just don't get it. Just pay Paul Soliai. You've raised Soliai, taught him to play well, he's in his prime, and you chuck him so that you can go through growing pains with an ultra raw Dontari Poe out of little ole Memphis? I don't get it.
I think Rich Eisen. He has continually shown improvement each year and I think this is the year he runs a sub 6.0 40.
Well maybe if we didn't raise & groom Paul so well we wouldn't have to pay him so much and could resign him rather than using a 1st rounder on his replacement. Ever think of that? Probably not.
I agree. You don't get better by letting good players go to other teams. I think we should resign him regardless if we play a 3-4 or a 4-3, and I'd be dang tempted to take Dontari Poe to play alongside him and recreate that big DT tandem we had with Bowens and Gardener.
Don't think either player makes it to our 2nd...their just too good..it doesn't matter, gotta have a plan in place to move up in the late first..
My Combine Warriors are dropping out of the Combine left and right. Ryan Tannehill confirmed out. Now Coby Fleener confirmed out. Robert Griffin and Andrew Luck won't be throwing, as I would've predicted based on my other article about whether top QBs should throw at the Combine.
Not sure how accurate this is, but I hope Fleener not participating gives us a better chance of getting him, when I watch him I see such a natural fluid explosive athlete, I was concerned that he would of set records for a guy his size thus boosting his stock, but it's wishful thinking that scouts won't see this elite athlete and properly place him from his proday. I keep hearing and seeing 2nd round and I don't get it, he looks like a thoroubred first round pick with elite size and measuarables..
