http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/2012/02/dolphins-offensive-coordinator-mike-sherman-said-thursday-that-in-studying-the-dolphins-he-saw-some-hidden-talent-on-the-rost.html Sherman says there are hidden talent in the offense but he didn't say who it could be. Who do you think is the hidden talent Sherman is referring to?
Clay, Jerry, spring to mind, maybe Gates, maybe Mastrud or that cat we poached from New England the Te.
I thought Jerry, Garner and Murtha showed a lot of promise in their limited playing opportunities. I also thought Murtha was a lock at RT before he went down the week before the season started. Clay and Thomas both flashed but struggled with injuries because of the shortened preseason. That's 5 guys that may have a decent upside. And Gates will be fine. You can't teach speed.
“Tell me what brand of whiskey that Grant drinks. I would like to send a barrel of it to my other generals.” A. Lincoln on being informed of Grant's drinking at the siege of Vicksburg
When Sherman was talking about 'hidden talent' he was referring to the OL. He never said who that talent was, as he said he wanted to talk to the players about it first. That was the conversation they were having. Mando took the conversation out of context...as is his usual habit.... As to who, the obvious suspects would be Jerry, Garner and/or Murtha I would assume...
Could it be that they will finally give Garner a try a LG and Incognito a shot at RG? I think it was just to logical for Sparano . P.S. I'm assuming "The Sherminator" was referring to tape he watched of last season, In which Murtha didn't play a snap.
Maybe he was talking about the players that we do have can be better and do more than they were used, maybe.
Yeah, but you have to consider that Garner was coming back from the Lis Franc injury, an injury known to take a lot longer than he did in coming back... The kid played pretty well the season before, IIRC, starting in 8 games or so...He may not be LT material, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a spot, given the chance... Lets face it RI belongs at the RG spot, especially with Sherman's blocking schemes. Garner could fit right in next to Big Jake and I see Murtha picking up where he left off at RT... Jerry showed some promise. Cook might be able to step up to swing tackle and is Carey done yet, particularly in a backup role, a guy that could be a swing tackle or guard ?? And lastly, I hate to say this, but Colombo did improve as the season went on. I think he's done and doesn't really fit in the zone blocking scheme myself, but he did improve as the season went along.
And the Ricky's weed bag did? Your post also has nothing to do with this thread. Steve slaton? Good pass catching RB
Well, perhaps, but Sherman was referring to talent along the OL in that conversation...Mando is the one who indicated other positions...
Ireland has mentioned Murtha many times in a way that leads to believe he expects Murtha to be very good and was only held back by injury. I'm assuming Murtha is the main hidden talent.
These are the first people I thought about also. Maybe a little Hartline as I'm confident the last coaches just didn't know how to use him right. Maybe they move our center back to LG too. Put one of the bigger guys at center. I would like to see RI go back to RG.
