They trot out Chris Broussard, so that cancels that out...

The Heat Index is a ridiculous investment for a 'news' organization.

The Heat Index is ESPN's way of not having to make an ESPN Miami. Because, you know, no one would read a site that covers Hanley Ramirez, Josh Johnson, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Pat Riley, Brandon Marshall, Reggie Bush, Ozzie Guillen, Carlos Zambrano, Jose Reyes, or any other of the top-tier athletic talent and recognizable names in Miami, plus those pesky little Miami Hurricanes baseball and football programs. No one at all, nope.

    Not sure if serious.

Gotta admit - Miami is tough to beat when they never miss a shot ever and the Cavs don't make a single shot ever.

Not sure your point? It seems you are agreeing with me? Dedicating an entire portion and staff to one team toes the line of journalistic integrity to me.

If it was for Miami in general I would understand for the reasons you mentioned - but it is all for one team. And The Decision already lost them the benefit of the doubt on being 'neutral' on the situation.

What I'm telling you is that ESPN took the lazy way out. They should be covering the entire town with a dedicated ESPN site. Instead they just created a section for their home page for the only team that shows up on their little 10w radar in Bristol. You interpret this as bandwagoning and championing; we see it as them short-changing the city.

I think we actually agree. ESPN picks a few stories and pushes them until they're run into the ground. They really control the narrative of the sports world.

I just don't see how they could be perceived as anti-Heat. Anti-Miami I get - but not this current Heat roster.

The problem here is that you're just looking at the existence of coverage without analyzing what kind of coverage it is.

ESPN has not had a lot of kind things to say about the Heat.

Eh we're never going to agree there. I think they're coverage has been much much much more positive than the media in general. To single them out as negative seems off-base.

Looking at this Cavs roster - outside of Irving and Varejao there is nothing on this roster. Amazing they've been playing so well.

Oh, I'm not singling them out, and there have been far worse things said than on ESPN's airwaves. But that doesn't exclude them. Jon Barry has been the lead Heat hater this season, usurping last season's two way tie of Charles Barkley and Adrian Wojnarowski. Woj is rounding into form though.

Haha I love how Woj writes his articles like they're the Great American Novel. Bob Costas even thinks Woj is too dramatic.

    That would be Derrick Rose.

Also, the refs haven't been very kind to the Heat this season in particular.

I think you missed the reason for my confusion. One guy with half the airtime makes up for two who get ESPN's headline coverage? Really? Please explain the math on this one.

Jeremy Lin just made NBA history.

His 44 turnovers (game is not over yet) are a new NBA record for any player in his first 7 games as a starter.

ESPN as Heat dick riders!!!!! Priceless.

That organization is stacked with dedicated heat haters.

    Jon Barry
    Ric Bucher
    Mike Wilbon
    Skip Bayless- lbj hater king
    Rob Parker
    Bill Simmons

That represents the chief nba analysts.

We got Chris Broussard. Congrats to us i guess.

Sportscenter is a Miami Heat lovefest. Or rather used to be until Lin came along. I didn't realize anybody watched all the other shows full of morons.

Yes you'll keep watching the playoffs and you'll keep seeing LeBron make it farther than everyone you consider "clutch". Enjoy watching that.
