Thanks for the info. But I have to ask: How is it that next year's draft class always seems to be better than the current year's draft class?

Good to know who will be around next year, but I'm really hoping this franchise knocks it off with the "wait till next year" approach to the QB.

Just as so many were confident last year that we should forego that draft QB class because the 2012 class was destined to be so awesome...

I don't see any reason we shouldn't be able to get one of Flynn, Tannehill or Weedon (even Luck as a longshot) in this class. I wasn't thrilled with last year's class and I was fine not making the big trade then, but this year's class, even with those that stayed in is still excellent. A year ago, I had Luck, Barkley and Weedon as franchise guys and expected that at least one more potential franchise guy would emerge. I figured with four potential franchise guys that our odds of finding a QB were better than what I saw in that last draft. Also we have a full complement of picks. Barkley ended up staying in (Jones as well, but I didn't care for him), but Tannehill and RG3 (not my choice) emerged and Flynn became an option as well. During the last draft, I saw this year as our best opportunity and now that it is drawing close I still feel that way.

    maybe:
    1) it would be premature to categorically rule out Peyton Manning
    2) I believe Moore can start & take into post season with a few upgrades
    3) for whatever reason, I just don't have a good feeling about Flynn. don't think it is going to or should happen
    4) the new OC is apparently big on Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill. he's made comparison with Brette Favre. if he is available regardless what else we do, I think we make the investment.
not too many real needs: another offensive linesman, maybe a pass rusher & a tight end, if we resign our starters

I agree, and IMO if Luck, RG3, Tannenhill, Fylnn, Weedon, or Manning are not on the roster this year, this was another failed off-season.

    Edit: Oops forgot about Manning.

Moore is on the roster & has displayed the potential to lead us into the post season.
too early to write off any possibilities in the draft or free agency
Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill may ultimately be our best shot for the franchise.

The fact that this is highly debatable means that he cannot be relied on. Not doing anything to improve the position and going gungho with Moore would be just as effective as last years off-season of not doing anything and going with Henne.

    1) no one has been more vocal in their demand for a dolphin franchise qb on this forum than myself.
    2) I have never suggested that Moore is the ultimate answer to the problem, nor am I "gungho" on Moore
    3) having said that, he has demonstrated an ability to manage the team & win games. there is no reason to believe he will enter next season a lesser qb for his experience of ending the season on a solid note.
    4) the only comment I made was that with a few upgrades on the team, Moore could get us into the post season. this idea is neither original nor is it unique in any way. many fans see that quiet possibility.

of course, I am hoping to finally land the big fish & believe we can do exactly that in 2012. However, if we enter the season with a franchise rookie project or less than 100% veteran, Moore will have an important role to play & I think he will pick up where he left off in 2011.

with or without the ultimate golden arm to command the offense, I am hopeful of a positive & competitive season

thank God we've moved on without Henne & Sparano! as far as I can see, things can only improve.

just too early to wade in with heavy predictions, anything can happen. the coach will make the right decision.

Free agents, draft picks but no trade possibilities?

I think Kevin Kolb could be moved, since the Cardinal's announced that he will compete for the job. With no training camp last season, it's seems unlikely that the Cardinals' are planning to tailor the offense to Kolb's strengths. Therefore, they might look to move Kolb and fill their roster with QBs that fit their system.

And if this system is Coryell-based system, then a trade built around Moore and Kolb may work. For the Cardinals, Matt Moore provides them with a best chance to make the playoffs, while providing a buffer to develop Skelton and a draft pick. It may help them with their salary cap and mitigate some of their free agent losses. With Fitzgerald and Peterson as their best players, they might be able to find some life left with inexpensive, old WRs, such as Braylon Edwards, Plaxico, Moss, etc. to catch some deep passes that Moore likes to throw.

As for the Dolphins, Kolb provides less risk as he's suited for a WCO while locked up for 4 more years with only one guaranteed. I don't know much about him, but I suspect the staff values a short, accurate passer as most of the better players excel at getting open on short, intermediate routes.

Comparisons to Favre minus all the INTs I hope.

Well, if Trent Dilfer can do it...

Really though, it would take Moore being surrounded by a dynamic team to even think about a Super Bowl. Post season? We may squeak in with him. But our defense would have to be lights out, we'd have to be more consistent on 3rd downs, cut down on the TOs, and hold most every team to 10 points or less. Just being realistic. I do appreciate what Moore has done, and I'd love to keep on the roster. But I don't see him taking this team very far. He stunk it up against the better teams. His best numbers came against the bottom feeders.

if this franchise wants a QB, he will be available in this draft or in the person of a rejuvenated Peyton Manning.

within the draft there are three major hitters & the only one question to ask: how much are we willing to sacrifice to secure one of them? we will pick @ 8 or 9. if we need it & want it & are willing to pay the price the QB will be there.

I have every confidence we will make the moves necessary to acquire that illusive entity in 2012

we have very few real needs, especially if we resign our starters. we have a new coaching cadre & with their ascension goes the responsibility to upgrade within by coaching football. the most difficult hurdle has been cleared.

no more excuses. time to get the job done. it's time to seriously compete @ all levels, starting with the draft & free-agency.

as of today, everything is possible.
