We already spent a 1st on Odrick, so if we re-sign Soliai to a big contract I wouldn't be a fan of spending another 1st on DT when we have Starks & McDaniel on the roster. That's a lil overkill IMO.

If we don't re-sign Soliai I'd have no problem taking Brockers if he happened to fall and pair him with Odrick for the next 10 years. That duo would let us easily mix up schemes w/o ever needing our DTs to leave the field (except to get a breather), no?

I agree with you. The more I watch him the more head and shoulders he is above the rest of the TE class, and you're right, he would have run really fast like Greg Olsen. He'll run at his Pro Day though. I think he'll go 1st round. I had him to the Steelers in my piece.

Not that I'm a betting man but yesterday a famous online sports book had the following Combine props which are now totally unavailable:

Faster 40 Yard Dash - Robert Griffin (-140) or Russell Wilson (EVEN)
Faster 40 Yard Dash - Robert Griffin (-135) or Jordan Jefferson (-105)
Faster 40 Yard Dash - Kendall Wright (-135) or Justin Blackmon (-105)
Faster 40 Yard Dash - Chris Rainey (-130) or David Wilson (-110)
Faster 40 Yard Dash - Chris Rainey (-130) or LaMichael James (-110)

Try and find those props today, and you won't find them, lol.

They also had these ones available, whose odds have swung wildly since yesterday:

Faster 40 Yard Dash - Chris Rainey (was -120, now -155) or Brandon Boykin (was -120, now +115)
Higher Vertical Jump - Kendall Wright (was -105, now -150) or Justin Blackmon (was -135, now +110)

If I were a betting man, and I'm not saying I am, but if I were...hypothetically...I would be pretty happy right now...hypothetically...

When I first clicked the thread, my hotel internet was going in and out so the link wasn't loading quickly, so I just responded to the question you posed...

" Fleener and it's not close".......that's a serious call considering the talents of Allen....man, that's a tough one...., I agree, and I didnt believe I would say that couple weeks ago..you made me go back and watch some games, the size to athleticism ratio was too much for me to make the #1 case for Allen anymore, I don't have the discrepancy that big but I do have Fleener as #1..

I have not heard anyone say this either so respect on the call..

I'm starting to wonder if Fleener might not be an option for the Dolphins in round 1 by the time the draft comes. If you can move down a bit that would be ideal, but he looks like he'll be a real weapon. I was just at a coaching clinic where David Shaw was showing some film and said "You can't coach that. You can't coach 6'8'' and gets down the field like that." And he's right. Assuming the Dolphins get their QB in free agency outside of Justin Blackmon, there isn't a single other player in this draft that would have as much of an impact on the Dolphins as Fleener could.

I know I am awaiting off of the fleener topid but how do we all feel about maybe drafting russel Wilson? I just feel like he is that NEXt late round qb to develope into a perennial starter in the nfl... He has just this knack for success whether it's in baseball football alike.. Great accuracy speed and for his short size seems to have great vision of the field...

Don't know where he's coming up with 6'8" but yeah, Fleener would have an impact on the offense. Don't know if he's quite a Rob Gronkowski type player though and arguably you'd have to think he is in order to justify that high a pick on him.

Very good player. Hard to shake the stigma of being short. He's not even as tall as Brees.

He might have said 6'6''. The clinic was in Vegas so the weekend is a bit of a blur.

I've started some threads on him so i'am in on the lil guy, 3 more inches and he's a first round pick imo, I think he's the best Prospect under 6 feet tall I've ever seen, would love to have him on our team even though it's a longshot..he's twice the Qb Flutie was and has all the intangibles...

I'm curious how my favorite non-big name player will do at the Combine---- Demario Davis OLB Arkansas State. I really hope he ends up a Dolphin.

    Make it happen, Jeff.

Just like pass rusher and corner back are positions that are sort of tied together in that if one is a little dicey you can make up for it by beefing up the other, I think that if the Dolphins are intent on losing Paul Soliai, then drafting a Luke Kuechly to play the Mike spot, would help make up for that.

Anyone have any ideas outside the box that nobody has touched on that we draft at 8,9?
Maybe Trent Richardson? Maybe like said above Luke K. Out of BC, maybe trading down for fleener or Allen? Trading up for Blackmon? Maybe rich Eison out of NFL network studios is a dark horse candidate for number 8?

Mike Adams of Ohio State only benched 19 reps, supposedly. Ouch.

Word from scouts is that Michael Brockers is expected to be the top rated DT followed by Fletcher Cox and then Devon Still. I think by the end of this week Dontari Poe might be up there.

Robert Griffin measured in at 6023 and 223 lbs (no doubt filled to the brim with water), and his stock is in free fall after Kendall Wright revealed that RG3 sometimes wears Hello Kitty socks. Griffin wore Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle socks to his press conference today and many are calling him unprofessional, surly and just plain weird.

    (that was a joke)

Riley Reiff with only 22 reps. Definitely like DeCastro better at 8 if it has to be an O-Lineman.

There was a Vegas line on whether DeCastro or Kalil would have higher bench reps. I would've taken DeCastro. But he didn't beat him by much, Kalil did 30 which is pretty stellar.

There was also a line about whether the highest bench pressing player would be offensive or defensive. I'd have preferred Molk NOT lay a 40 burger...but nonetheless I don't think 41 will be enough to beat Dontari Poe and Mike Martin.

I'm no expert so not aware of the history of associating bench pressing 225 lbs a number of times with performance, but it seems like such a narrow measure of strength, and not really any indication of overall strength, especially the core. Does it really associate that well?

It shows how much a player has worked out in college. Basically you can get an indication if the player is always going to the weight room or skipping out. That being said there are certain measures that should be taken into account. For example, a tall lengthy lineman shouldn't be expected to have the same bench press numbers as a short compact player.

Right so a measure of work ethic, endurance, commitment etc., that makes a lot more sense. Guessing not lifting like Jonathan Martin isn't particularly impressive then unless he has a genuine injury.

It's not impressive at all. Which is why I was trying to figure out if something was/is wrong with him. He might have just made something up to be honest. I have heard several rumors that he is "lazy." I am beginning to think more and more that he could potentially be a bust down the road. He has the talent, but everyone does in the NFL. The difference is how much they want it. I think Reiff is a much safer pick, DeCastro could be the safest pick in this years draft in my opinion.

Kalil runs a 4.9 40 over 300 lbs..impressive..same thing with Cordy Glenn at a heavier weight, even more impressive

If we want tackle, we can trade down a pick a good one.
