B/c that isnt an option. Indy doesnt want to trade the first pick... they want Luck to replace Manning. If St. Louis didnt have Bradford... trading up for RG3 wouldnt be an option either.

You need 2 to tango... and Indy aint dancing.

I suppose that is what the reports are saying, but I find it hard to believe that Indy would deny without hesitation a chance to re-sign manning (if the bridges haven't been burned) and pick up a good backup in Tannehill/Weeden/etc with our pick plus a boatload of other picks to flood their team's holes. I know all signs point to their FO being dead set on Luck, but everyone has a price. And my original point was, the price probably isn't all that much more in the grand scheme of things compared to the boatload of picks we'd have to give to STL for RG3, given the competition for that chance.

EDIT: and my other point was, regardless of RG3 or Luck, I think the price will be way too high. I was just saying if they're gonna mortgage our entire next two drafts might as well do it for Luck if possible

If the browns sign flynn and the redskins sign manning we would be in the drivers seat to move up and grab griffin. This is a big if though.

My vote is offer "the farm" aka 3 1st rounders plus to either the Colts or Rams. Turn the tables and let them jump. First to take the offer gets half a new team and we get a franchise QB. While i love the athletic ability of both QBs its their leadership, intelligence and demeanor I love

I say keep our picks, sign Flynn (Philbin) wouldn't even be looking at him if he wasn't considering him to be a francise guy. Also, we keep our picks and continue to build around him, otherwise we keep Moore, get one of the other sleeper QB's and once again continue to build. We have so many freakin scenarios and honestly only coach Philbin knows what he is truely looking for and who he is looking for. I just can't wait until all this is over and done with and we can look forward to becoming winners once again. No way but UP for the phins from now on.

I don't hold a ton of hope that RG3 is going to be an elite player for very long in this league...but I have to admit it would be a fun ride while it lasts. Would be nice to see this fan base unanimously excited again. Also, would be fun to play around with him on Madden.

here's the thing though Dog, I don't think anyone is gonna make a move on Flynn until they know that Philbin wants him, cause if he doesn't its a pretty big indictment considering the circumstances.

Do you think once adversity starts comin in, he doesn't have the passion required for the game to sustain and cross that threshold?, not the work ethic that it will take to become a Brady, Manning, or Rodgers because there are other things in life he wants to achieve?

I do believe you have to have an insatiable desire to be great.

I won't lie, it is something I think about..but the competitive desire I see in him keeps those demons away..

Trading multiple 1st round picks is a luxury the Dolphins can't afford. Franchise QBs without talent around them equate to average QBs.

    RG3 minus 3 1st round draft picks

    or

Flynn plus 3 1st round draft picks

Makes signing Flynn a no brainer compared to trading for RG3 (and I like RG3)

This would fit the bill for Ross, it would be a huge splash, not sure if it would work out but at this point its worth considering. RGIII was high on everyone's list before the combine and after showing that he has superior athletic skills in workouts he hasn't moved down anyone's board. After interviews and private workouts someone is going to fall in love with the guy and offer the farm for him, I'm not sure a trade is going to be worth it but if we think he's going to lead this team for the next 10-15 years then its worth a lot of draft picks. There is always a huge risk involved in trading draft picks but if it works out its a bargain.

It won't keep concussions or injuries away though. He left himself open to a lot of big hits, especially when he's making plays with his feet.

Personally I would rather the Dolphins take RG3 over Luck. I think Luck will be a very good QB in the NFL, but I think it is RG3 who is the QB in this draft which will be special in the NFL. In fact it would not surprise me in the least if the Colts don't change their mind on Luck and they end up taking RG3.

Yea I know,I was just saying if this happened we would have real chance to get griffin.I have a bad feeling we are going to end up with a broken down peyton manning and we will be back to square one.
My first choice is griffin, and my second choice is matt flynn.I want nothing to do with manning because I think he is done.

Just read an article on espn.com saying that a source close to the rams, said they have decided to trade the #2 pick. The dolphins were one of several teams the rams talked to about a potential trade according to the article. It also states that the rams are looking for similar compensation that the chargers got in 2004.

"Without talent around them"?? Long? Pouncey? Marshall? Bush? Thomas? Clay? I think that's a pretty good start. lol.

Draft well and spend wisely in FA and those 1sts won't be missed when you have Griffin, especially when we have a franchise LT, franchise WR, franchise C, perfect back to compliment him, promising Hback, vertical threat compliment in Gates. That's MORE than enough ammo to work with to become an elite offense with Griffin.

Flynn doesn't make our offense elite IMO; we'd be very competitive, but not elite. IMO we'd be no better than the Falcons, great during the regular season but not good enough to compete with the best in the playoffs.

Griffin is a game changer. Flynn isn't. Griffin you build a team around. Flynn you don't IMO.

The only way I don't see him lasting is if things come so easily to him that he grows complacent..... but I don't see that happening while SB trophies are involved. I only see him getting better and better as he's able to fully get his brain involved in the game.

lol @ the Madden comment. I bet he's a 97 in Madden franchise mode in 2 years.

480 yards, 6 TD passes, and coming from behind twice in the 4th quarter...yeah, Flynn isn't a game changer or can you build a team around him. I suppose the National Champion LSU Tigers Flynn was QB for when he threw for 4 TD passes in the National Championship further shows he is not the kind of QB to build a team around either or can succeed in the playoffs when the pressure is on.

Comparing RGIII to JaMarcus Russell is (as Charles Barkley would put it) just "turrble". My point is, this kid is driven. Russell is far from it. You will not be getting a cancer with Griffin. This guy has the IQ, the athleticism, and the drive to be very productive in the NFL.

He went to Baylor at 17 (which is, by all accounts, a high-ranking academics school), graduated EARLY with a 3.7 GPA in Poli-Sci and is going towards a Master's in Comm. The guy is no slouch in the classroom OR in competitive athletics (he was also the #1 ranked hurdler in the country out of high school).

I think that choosing either (Luck or RGIII) would be a no-brainer for ANY franchise out there looking for franchise QB.

I'm sorry, but personally, I do not put Luck ahead of RGIII or vice-versa. I think you win with either choice.....

    Are you serious?

Do you realize that if we "were" a 1-15 team it'd mean we're worse off talent wise than the 6-10 team we finished up?

That means we'd need to acquire a LOT MORE picks this year to bring us up from a 1-15 team to a 6-10 one, so your statement makes absolutely no sense b/c the situations essentially wash each other out.

If we were a 1-15 team, we'd have to trade 1 or 2 future drafts to get us up to the talent of a 6-10 team that could've very easily gone 8-8 or 9-7. Would you rather do that?.... or would you rather have a lot of talent in place and only need to trade a few decent future picks for the #2 spot?

Flynn's a system QB where everything is built around his strengths while masking his weaknesses. He played a Lions D with a beat up secondary.

He's a good QB, but to anoint him as some stud franchise guy is a little extreme. How's it working out for Kolb without the system fitting perfectly? You want to build an organization around another system QB rather than bringing in game-changing franchise one?

If the system breaks down a hair or the talent around Flynn isn't there or isn't perfectly suited for his strengths, all of his weaknesses can surface IMO, and he'll plumet from a 90+ rated QB when everything is pristine to a 70's QB overnight, where as RG3 still gives you a chance to win.

RG3 makes the entire offense better. Conversely, the entire offense & play-calling is what Flynn will need to be better. DCs wont have sleepless nights worrying about stopping Flynn IMO, but they will RG3.

    I agree Deej.

I'll tell everyone now--- the reason I move up for Griffin is b/c this kid will spend the next 15 years trying to prove that HE should've been taken ahead of Luck.... and a determined Griffin is a seriously dangerous Griffin IMO.

The players we have are still the same regardless of record so yes it makes perfect sense.I would have been happy if they quit on the damm coach and we would have a real chance at a franchise qb instead of a pipe dream.1 step back to go 2 steps forward.Damm the 2011 season.

I am not sure what my view of RG3 has to do with my negative view of Ireland. Perhaps if Ireland does his job and makes a blockbuster trade up to get the Rams pick, I will change my feelings about his abilities as an NFL GM. So far though, I think he is one of the worst GM's in the NFL and the teams record over the last three years backs me up.

Sorry, but it doesn't make sense. If we're a 1-15 team, then you need to adjust the talent accordingly. You can't have your cake and eat it, too, bro.

You're thinking irrationally. The main reason we started out so slowly is b/c people were playing like crap. We started winning when the team began playing better. Therefore, if we instead kept losing and went 1-15, it would've meant that guys like Vontae, Dansby, Burnett, Odrick, Bush, Clay, Jerry etc didn't improve. So if you'd rather have the 1-15 us, then you get ALL the team's baggage that goes with it. You can't say "Oh, I'll take the good us but at 1-15 so we can get Griffin". That's pure silliness.

To hypothetically want the poor playing 1-15 version of us over the "improved" 6-10 one is even sillier regardless of picks for RG3 being involved.

I still don't know what I think about him yet. The weirdest thing for me when evaluating him is that fact that his accuracy numbers were so high, yet his ball placement wasn't that good at all.

As a Bears fan i'm curious, would you guys trade Marshall and your 2nd rounder for Chicago's 1st, #19 if it enabled you to out-do the Brown's package and jump up and draft RG3?

I would much rather be picking first or second in april and anybody who says different is just lying to themselves.Do you think the colts are happy they had the number #1 pick in 1998 or looking back they wish they had a pointless winning streak so somebody else could have drafted manning? The crazy thing is you want griffin and chances are we aren't getting him.

You're not living in the real world. We do have talent on this team, and to even think that the talent is going to lay down, or stop playing hard so they get the #1 pick is ludicrous. The #1 pick is meant for the team with the least amount of talent, which is clearly the Colts.

Why is Clayton saying that we have no shot??

Best offer wins the spot, the redskins do not have two first round picks, and they are only three spots up from us..We can still be in this right??, cleveland I get but we can out bid the skins if we want.

Exactly. We have enough picks that if we want him bad enough we can get him IMO. It all comes down to how badly we want him and if the trade off is worth it.

IMO the trade off is definitely worth it b/c IMO Griffin is the type of guy who can give you more wins than the players we might've gotten from those sacrificed picks. Basically, I think a Griffin led team can be more successful than a non-Griffin one with all their picks in tact. I think we could give up our 1st for the next 2 years and still have a better shot at winning with RG3, especially since much of our core positions are presently satisfied meaning we can get by w/o a couple 1sts.

We started out 0-7 and lost a game winning 15-0 with 3 mintues left. The thought of getting the first or 2nd pick was not ludicrous. The post marino teams always find a way to screw a chance at a franchise qb and this is just another example.

This would not be enough to be able to trade up and draft RG3. I believe the Rams would be far more interested in the Browns 4th and 22nd picks in round one than they would be in the Dolphins offering the 8th and 19th pick in the first round. Perhaps if the Bears offered their first and second round picks for Marshall, so the the Dolphins could offer two number ones and two number two's to the Rams, the trade of Marshall to the Bears would be realistic.

Just getting the 19th pick in the draft and having to give up Marshall, plus the Dolphins second round pick would be an absurd trade on the part of the Dolphins.
