Manning and Wayne may be a package deal...
I would have no problem with that move,
they could even throw in his Center to boot!

Makes sense to me... just show me the SuperBowl!

No to Wayne. He is a glorified possession WR at this point. No point in overpaying for his overrated butt while he is declining. Yes to Manning, no to Wayne. I'd consider Garcon since he is much younger and the deep threat, something Wayne is not.

Not going to matter much when your quarterback has a dead arm and can't throw deep anyway.

Can we put Wayne's nerve into Manning's arm?

The reports I've heard are that Manning is planning to bring the whole band with him wherever he goes.

And that would make signing Manning even worse, IMO. A dead armed quarterback with a slowed down receiver and an at the end center. Let's move our young, potential All Pro center to guard to accomodate Manning's desire to have his long time center in the fold....a center that largely got tossed around like a rag doll this past year.

Saturday was ranked in the top 10 last year and Pouncey was in the bottom 10 for pass block efficiency.

Even the Offensive Coordinator...this won't be Philbin's team, it will be Mannings!

    For about 2 years.

doesn't matter who puts their claim to the team as long as the Miami Dolphins are a SuperBowl team.

Not to mention that a former All Pro center would be a great teacher for our potential All Pro center. If Saturday plays for cheap then why not? Def could not hurt.

Wayne I'm more ehhh. I agree w/what the Snowman said about rather having Garcon, but I think he would be even more overpaid. Even though Wayne is starting to decline, he would still put up solid numbers next to Marshall.

    Is Wayne better than Hartline?

That's the question. If yes, then why not try and sign him?

I often wondered was Chris Chambers as good of a wr as Wayne ? i wouldnt mind having both wrs to tell the truth. I am still waiting for the dolphins to draft a skill player on offense but if we get help for our qb in free agency i wont be disapointed . it doesent looklike Robert Griffin III will slide past Cleveland . I am hoping that Manning will come to Miami and be healthy but i sure as hell would take Reggie Wayne . just think having two Reggies and a Payton would seem to equal a super bowl to me.

Wow...Reggie had a down year last year with no QB all year and all off the sudden he's washed up?

Hell yeah bring Peyton and Reggie, they already have chemistry, Reggie knows how to teach the other younger recievers what Peyton wants on their routes.

    I love it.

a Franchise QB makes all the difference in the world of football
let Manning enter as QB & you won't recognize the explosion talent that will emerge from our present WR stable.
sign Manning, take Tannehill in the first. we won't have another opportunity like 2012 for another twenty years.

I'm in for Wayne with Manning. Saturday, meh. I don't think Wayne is quite over the hill yet. And really, he's a threat enough not cover off, which would make it a l'il easier on BM.

Yes, I finally got sucked into talking about this. Been tryin to hold off until we hit FA to see how the cards fall even before I start to gripe about the draft. Does make me rather excited tho.

I'm game for Manning and Wayne...Is Jacob Tamme included? Jeff Saturday is a reach because we have a lot invested in Pouncey. However if the fact is that Saturday is the better pass blocker than so be it. I'm all for doing whatever it takes to get us back to being a contending team. Pierre Garcon...Why not.

I'm not clamoring for Manning, but at the same time, Pouncey is no more a potential All Pro center than 20 other centers in the league. Honestly, to say Saturday got tossed around like a rag doll, how many Colts games did you watch?
I admit I only watched parts of 3-4, but PFF graded him as the 5th best center, and they did watch every game completely. In 594 pass block attempts, Saturday allowed 2 sacks, no QB hits and 9 pressures. In 558 pass block attempts, Pouncey allowed 3 sacks, 3 QB hits and 15 pressures. Not even mentioning the adventures in shotgun snapping he gave us each week. IF, Pouncey ever makes 1st Team All Pro, it would be as a guard IMO, not as a Center.

We don't need to invent stuff about Pouncey and Saturday to support not signing Manning.

Mike Pouncey was the one who was chosen as a Pro Bowl alternate and is already one of the three best centers in the AFC along with his brother and Nick Mangold.

Saturday is a ligthweight, finesse player that would be completely demolished by Vince Wilfork, Kerry Jenkins, Sione Puhoa, and Marcel Dareus in this division.

Wayne didn't have that much of a down year. Better catch pct than Marshall or Hartline. Only 2 drops in 121 targets. 75 catches to finish 14th in the league. Marshall dropped 14 in 138 targets, Hartline 7 in 66, and Bess 5 in 79.

  23. For arguments sake lets say we are talking about a healthy Manning coming to Miami and bringing Wayne and maybe Saturday too. I think bringing in that kind of veteran talent would be good for the teams perfomance but could we afford it. Would we not have to either cut players or ask them to take a pay cut to pull this off. So who would take a cut and who would we release? I would imagine both Wayne and Saturday would both want decent money. Mannings contract will be significant. Its fun to talk about but not very realistic IMO.

He's not a top 3 center. Mangold, Myers, Birk, Alex Mack, and Saturday are better than him. Possibly his brother.

Myers is another lightweight, and Pouncey was far better than Saturday this past season as a rookie. Jeff Saturday is one of the more overrated centers in the history of the league.

OK. If he's healthy, then he's not coming to Miami because the Colts aren't going to cut a healthy Peyton Manning.

You're just tossing around the word lightweight.

You're just being biased about Pouncey, and intentionally underrating the other centers. He could be up to Nick Mangold's level but as of today he is definitely not a top 3 center in the AFC.

That's an opinion, not a fact.

Kerry Jenkins is still playing? I think you mean Kris Jenkins, and he hasn't played since the first game of 2010.
How did the Colts ever beat the Steelers in recent seasons, or the Pats, with Saturday getting demolished by Hampton, Wilfork etc?
So, you admit you didn't watch the Colts in 2011.

All I know is that the AFC's coaches and players choose the alternates for the Pro Bowl, and the alternates most of the time are better players than the fan choices, and he was chosen by his peers as a Pro Bowl alternate. Not Jeff Saturday. Not Chris Myers.

I've never heard the fan votes don't count for deciding alternates. I've always thought they combined player, coaches, and fans votes and then select starters, reserves and alternates in order of total combined votes. You're saying the fan votes get tossed out for deciding alternates? Do you have a link to any web page that supports this?

Even if that is how alternates are selected, it seems to me that fans only use Pro Bowl alternate status as a measuring stick when it supports their own opinion. Heck, even Tim Ruddy was a Pro Bowl alternate in 2002 or 2003. Blocking for a stud like Ricky was then will get ya noticed.

    a possible SuperBowl offensive line-up for 2012:

OL: long-pouncey-saturday-icognito-murtha (gardner, jerry, carey) or draft Peter Konz @ Center
TE: fasano-mastrud (clay, messam) or draft C. Fleener @ TE
    WR:marshall-wayne-bess-hartline (gates, wallace, moore)
    QB: manning-moore-tennehill
    RB: bush-thomas (messam, clay)

make it so & coach'em up:dolphin:works for me
just having fun, really looking forward to the possibilities & potential of 2012
