That's pure speculation b/c you have no idea what the Rams are looking for. They could be looking for a LT to protect their franchise QB, and if they keep Bradford rather than using the #2 on Griffin, I'm guessing they might want to make sure he's actually protected. If that's the case, the #8 spot is an ideal place to have your pickins between Martin or Reiff, while Cleveland's #4 pick might be too high and their mid 1st might be too low.

Just sayin. My objective would be to protect Bradford first and foremost if I'm sticking with him as my franchise guy.

You sure you weren't watching another Dolphin QB? It only takes 1 or 2 steps to make a rusher miss in order to complete a pass. In that regard Marino had solid mobility paired with tremendous vision & awareness. Again, mobility doesn't mean needing to pull off a Randall Cunninham type move.

I'd almost bet you dollars to donuts that Marino extended a greater number of plays and completions b/c of his little shuffle/slide step than Cunningham did with all his athletic ability as a runner.

I'm teasing a bit. Early in his career he was more mobile and shuffled around but that changed alot mid and late career. I wouldn't neccessarily say he is mobile but he was crafty. Quick release with a little shuffle was great strengths of him

Several of the NFLN talking heads took turns doing their mock drafts during the combine. LaConfora went last, and he had us taking Reiff, but bypassing Claiborne to do so, whom he put at 9th to Carolina.
If we bypass Claiborne for any other non QB at 8th, I'll personally go to Davie and burn down the team facility. Todd and Aqua4ever would help me too I'd bet.

That said, the odds of Claiborne sliding to 8th are slim and I really doubt Reiff slides to the late 1st. Game film still takes priority and he sure looks the part of a solid left tackle, let alone right tackle. Reiff is one of the players we should have extra insight on, with us having Iowa's former OC on our coaching staff now.

I do find it odd though that nfl.com in their rookie grades, ranks Claiborne behind Kirkpatrick and tied for 2nd corner with Jenkins. ???

I've had those feelings since the draft order was set. If we look at the process with a clear head, and not pie in the sky dreams of trading up for Luck or Griffin, the most likely thing that is going to happen is we sign Flynn, or draft Tannehill. IMO, folks should just get it in their heads that one of those two things is going to happen, rather than setting themselves up for disappointment.

Totally agree. To equate Marino in the pocket with Bledsoe is the right near the top with the most ridiculous thing I've ever read on this forum.

Good to hear but I still would not make a huge, blockbuster trade to reach Grifin. I love many things about his game but not enough to give up 2 firsts, 2 seconds and possibly more.

We all know he had a quick release but you ask a player like Bruce Smith if Marino was elusive, and I'm betting he will go right into mentioning how many times he thought he was going to get a sack, only to have Marino take one simple step to make him miss.

Marino had great awareness in the pocket and a really quick step to avoid pressure. Far from being a statue. Slow runner? The turtle might have killed him but not in a one yard dash

I think that is Eisen's best time ever? Seems like he mentioned his last year's time was something like 6.81?

Kara Henderson ran it barefoot and ran a 6.02. Beating Rich by .01. That was pretty cool. I hope she keeps doing that every year.
I think Rich wearing those fancy cross trainer shoes helped him. He ran in his dress shoes before as I recall.

I wonder if 2 first rounders + Vontae would do it. Rams need CBs bad.

Rams have solid CBs they just got hit with the injury bug last year. Not that Vontae wouldn't be a fine addition.

no need to get your feelings vested in RG3. Whether it's the right move or not, this organization is grounded in the stockpile picks as opposed to dump a boat load for a guy like RG3. I just hope Ross isn't so enamored with Manning that he doesn't care if he's 40%, 80% or 100%, that he just wants that name. If that's the case we are effed beyond belief for his tenure as owner. I'm not getting to geared up on RG3. I got Barkley'd this season. I refuse to do that again.

yeah I'm with you I don't see us trading picks if we can gamble on manning or flynn for just money. I think Barkley going back to college really blew any chance of us drafting a qb in round 1.

    Where do you gather that?

No offense, but don't we have a new owner? No more Parcells? New HC? Ireland, in his 2nd draft with full control?

We have an entirely new organization, so how do you know what they are or aren't grounded in? If anything, this new "organization" is more inclined to trade up for the player they want, evidenced by the Daniel Thomas pick despite already being short on draft picks. If this organization loves Griffin, they'll do what they can to move up.

You are clearly showing that you are either too young to have watched marino in his prime or you weren't a dolphins fan back then. about as inaccurate a statement as I've seen lately in this forum.

I could get into a debate about this but there is no point. Truth is there is 2 Marinos. early Marino def had good feet in the pocket. Late Dan after the injury he was a statue. I saw both so really both are right.

To avoid debate just replace Dan with Phil Simms and the post still stands.

that I can live with. I just don't believe in categorizing Marino on his last few years, when the majority of his career he showed great agility within the pocket.

Hey Mr PeePee, it's funny how I just finished watching NFL's All-Time top 10 Mobile QBs and Marino was #7.

Does that make all the guys at NFL "homers", too?

Marino can defend himself, I'm more angry he called Tebow a dual threat. Unless you mean each one of his legs is a threat...because his arm certainly is not.

Ahem . . .isn't that what everybody was saying about Ryan Leaf? Just sayin . . .

Tannehil may be raw, but the talent and skills are there, Sherman knows him very well and he likely could be had at #8. Brandon Weeden is pro-ready and very talented, the age doesn't worry me, if nothing else he gives us 10 solid years and we draft the next Marino in 7-8 years. And if Philbin lands Flynn, he instantly runs the Philbin/Sherman offense at NFL speed, and we save #8 for a pass rusher.

We can't afford to give up draft picks with the number of holes we still need to fill. JMVHO

Most people on this site would like/love to get RGIII in the draft. The exceptions are few. The next question is how much people are willing to give up to get him? Are we all in, like Ditka was in order to draft Ricky Williams? The next question would be, what other teams are willing to get in the RGIII sweepstakes and what are they willing to give up to get him? Certainly as far as resources to get RGIII, Cleveland leads the pack. Two firsts this year and maybe a first next year and whatever other picks they want to throw into the deal. I just see us on the outside looking in right now unless Ireland and the Dolphins are willing to mortgage a good chunk of the future to even be considered.

Think of it this way. Suppose we got RG3. Would that make us, in your mind, an instant serious Super Bowl contender, or would we still be a season or two of filling holes away?

If it's the latter, it doesn't make that much of a difference if we get the franchise QB first or fill the holes first. Meaning we should maximize the value of the picks we have. Although it would be great, there's no law that says the house will fall down if we don't win it all next season.

Flawed logic, whose to say we don't fill those holes and in the next two or three years there isnt a QB as good as Luck and RG3 in the draft anywhere near our drafting position?
I think its easier to fill all those other pieces via free-agency and draft than it is to get a franchise calibier QB.. You take the QB if we can get a deal done.
