http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...sweblog+(Miami+Dolphins+|+Sun-Sentinel+Blogs) Alright naysayers step up to the plate!
Hmm .... mebby somebody named Omar reads what somebody here post about intense workout before signing! you think?
I'm sure that Jeffy is going to pee himself with glee over a 27 second video of a guy who may or may not be Manning. PFT said it best..the video was just far enough away that the Manning camp could claim he didn't know he was being video'd and yet still let it get out there that he is getting better. Is he ?? I don't know and can't say. I hope so, because it appears more and more likely that this is the direction that Ross desperately wants to go... There just are inherent risks in going this route... How healthy will the arm be now or ever ?? How likely is it that there is more damage done with the next big hit ?? What about the already needed next surgery to remove spurs ?? At 36 he's got, if we are very, very lucky, 1-2 years maybe 3....what then ?? Either way, I'll cheer them on, but a lot of fans need to be ready for the big letdown when/if he re-injures himself or he/we decide he can't physically do the job any longer...Then where will we be ?? A half-azzed offense that none of our backups can run like Manning could have run it healthy... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/03/video-appears-to-show-peyton-manning-throwing-well/
Looks fine to me. Funny thing with Duke. Their uniforms are exact replicas of the Colts, except for the logo on the helmet and the league patch. Main reason that Colts helmet fit in perfectly there. Good sign as well that he is working with Cutcliff. He knows Peyton as well as anyone.
three posts that might warrant a revisit @ this critical point in the Manning narrative one: it only makes sense to resolve the QB crisis completely & immediately in 2012 1) we need to end the SuperBowl drought by bringing aboard Manning & competing for the big enchilada immediately 2) we need to develop the next Franchise QB right behind Manning because it takes time to do so & we may not be in this good of a draft position anytime soon. we're drafting 8 overall with three top QB's within that range. http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/02/24/2659683/am-qb-may-be-best-option-for-miami.html Manning/Tannehill, an immediate revolution & future resolution... two: why would you think that he would prefer another location? 1) Peyton likes Miami, even has a condo bought & paid for here. the Mannings already spend considerable time in the area. they both know & like the location. 2) he has received a warm invitation from both the fan base & Ross & company. appears Ross has made him a priority on his things to do list for 2012 & has deep pockets. 3) No State Income Tax & No Snow, two more big pluses. 4) our roster is ready to peak & has SuperBowl potential throughout the team 5) he would be a part of the offensive re-structuring, given we have a new HC & OC. many of his astute ideas & unique abilities could find fertile ground in a cooperative, flexible offensive environment. might even be able to bring Saturday & Wayne with him in the deal to facilitate the move. nothing is off the table. 6) Miami is interested in winning a SuperBowl, not rebuilding a team. Manning wants to win another SuperBowl before retiring from football. this would be the ultimate jewel in his crown, asserting his right to the claim: the best QB to have ever played the game. both Peyton & Miami want the SuperBowl, now... & it is doable. 7) would not have to compete directly against his brother, which is always a pleasant family circumstance, making for a better work environment. seems a likely fit to me three: Peyton is arguably the greatest QB in the history of the game having said that the greatest of his many attributes & intangibles that he brings to the table is attitude: a picture is worth a thousand words. check this out: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...set=a.267520961246.143595.262842176246&type=1 only someone of Peyton Manning's stature & leadership can fix what's broken in Miami the essentials & the intangibles Peyton in 2012
Looks kinda hinky to me. Why would he be wearing pads and a helmet? Looks staged. Kinda reminds me of the woolly mammoth video that was circulating a few weeks ago. Or, bigfoot citings. Sorry, don't buy it.
Miami has to sign him if he can throw a ball, point blank, simple as that... Sign him, draft T-Hill....prep for the future....
Say the Rams trade their pick to the Redskins, I was considering maybe we swap with the Bucs to steal Blackmon, then draft Osweiler instead later on.
I'm not on the Manning bandwagon. but to play devil's advocate. maybe he is wearing full gear to make sure he can still make the throws with the equipment on to make sure it's not impeding his abilities. I still think he's going to have limited movement with his neck and it may affect his peripheral vision. ...or maybe he just has a giant zit on his face and doesn't want anyone seeing it.
Remember though, it's not just about arm strength, it's also going to be about consistency in his throws.
KillerWhatever did you bother to read: 'three posts that might warrant a revisit @ this critical point in the Manning narrative' on this thread before you posted? did you not read the thread by gafinfan & follow the source he provided? probably, you read nothing, just glanced over the posts calculating how to step up & ferment negativity. no one knows the future but speculation can be fun & the legitimate exchange of information is what the forum is mostly about. some people just don't get it & never will. thank God we have the magic button. goodbye. with some, negativity has become an art-form & an end unto itself. with most, I'm sure they see the glass half full not half empty. 2012 looks to be filled with possibility & promise about Manning & the Miami Dolphins: Peyton is the fixer, a facilitator of change that can get this broken franchise into a SuperBowl if given the chance
ESPN says that it has verified that it is Manning in the video. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7...ng-throws-duke-university-workout-source-says
I dont understand why people feel there is such risk in signing him. If he signs an incentive driven contract as speculated and he either isnt what we all hoped or gets injured we rely on the QB already under contract who by the way took the team to a 6-3 record. I see more danger in relying on a rookie QB or signing a guy with very little exp to a big contract! Although I must say I am in love with Weeden and Cousins is growing on me.
Why wouldn't Manning just put out a regular video instead of a spy cam session? While it is not allowed for Colt's officials (and possibly other teams as well) to directly attend such an event, I don't believe there is any kind of rule that would forbid Manning from making such a video and having someone post it on youtube. Just seems weird. Edit: I will say if this is legit, then he is looking pretty decent. I would be less worried than I would be signing him otherwise.
Not Tannehill. If we draft a QB (after taking Manning) it should be someone like Cousins in round 3. We need to spend #8 on a playmaker and someone who will actually see the field.
The thinking is that they meant to make it look like a spycam video to say that they didn't know it was being shot, but they're going to release a full package vid next week.
Yeah, but why would he be wearing pads and a helmet??????????? Its not like he`s rehabbing from major neck surgery and wants to see if his mobility and vision are hindered at all . You know, nothing like that.
ESPN claims to have 'independently verified' this footage as authentic. I think it would be silly not to sign Peyton Manning to an aggressive, incentive laden contract. The Dolphins have shown signs at every turn that they are very very interested. As you should be for the one of the 1-2 BEST quarterbacks of all time. In fact, I suspect Peyton Manning is out Plan A, B, and C.
Everyone is wondering if its him or why is he wearing helmet and pads, but I'm surprised nobody mentioned why isn't he throwing to his left? Isn't that one area that has come up that he is having issues with? Don't get me wrong I would luv to have a healthy Manning on this team, and draft Tannehill to learn from Manning.
He throws to his left at the 10 second mark, to the sideline. In fact, he throws deep down the middle, a 10-15 out to his left, and a crossing pattern to the right sideline. Three throws, three areas of the field.
Oh yeah that is such a noodle arm pass. Who is the "reporter" who said he had a noodle arm anyway? Just googled it, and the person retracted their noodle arm statement anyway. Dolphins would be insane not to try and do whatever it takes to sign him if the Colts dont. When you haven't won a playoff game in 12 years and counting, and have been wallowing down in the company of the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills and have had years of horrible management, you do what it takes, doesn't matter if its "only" for 3 years. It buys plenty of time, and could bring back a winning mentality to the organization. I'd probably bet that he will win comeback player of the year. And now it's being reported Gregg Williams' Redskins might have been the main factor in his injury. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s...ins-may-started-peyton-manning-163634407.html You know Peyton will be more than determined. Not that that is in question. (So happy now that we didn't get Jeff Fisher)
Here's the thing. I don't see the controversy. Yeah, it was Peyton. What's such a big deal about that? Those were practice throws on a practice field with practice velocity at about 80% of what would be expected on game day. Anyone should be able to see that just by looking at the video. I never let things lie so yes I actually timed some throws for comparison because I happened to recognize the distances involved with each kind of throw, etc. That left throw on the 12 yard out was about a 72 to 76 foot throw if you know the throw and know what you're seeing, and it came out at about an average velocity of 35 to 38 miles per hour which is about 80% of the 45+ miles per hour that throw would be expected to come out for Peyton Manning in a game day situation. If it was important for you to see that Peyton is up and moving around, throwing the football, etc...as if he was supposed to be bed-ridden and emaciated...then yeah, this is a nice update. If it was important for you to see Peyton Manning throwing the football like he will on game day, then you did not get that in this video. Not saying he can't, I'm saying it wasn't in this video.
As has been pointed out in another thread, this is not neccessarily a good sign, and the reports that had Mannig's arm falling off were greatly exaggerated, as this film can be over blown as well. Real test for Manning with be when he is hit.
Even if he's not fully what he was, this video disproves the "noodle" label. If a team can get him on an incentive-laden contract that is tied to performance and will not break the bank unless he is what he was, why not let him come to camp? It's still going to end up being about whether the Colts decide not to pay him, and if they let him go, who offers him the most guaranteed money.
