Thanks for the link. As someone who has worked in estate planning, it makes sense. Didn't the sale to Huizenga occur because of an estate tax problem as well?

If it's a tax issue, then selling the team does make sense.

But, please, not to Michael Dell. Please, no.

as much as we criticize Wayne, we could easily end up with someone worse

I wonder if this means cleaning house or status quo?

odds are that Meuller will be kept on at least until the draft is over with

I'm willing to live with an inferior owner as long as the Dolphins stay in Miami.

Or it could mean that NOBODY will want to come here due to the state of flux. You certainly can't begin to build a dynasty while surrouneded by so much uncertainty. For all that were whining for Wayne to sell the team....you may get your wish.....if so, enjoy the NFL cellar a bit more....we'll be here a while.

I want an owner that will get a face lift, do commercials, broker deals for chicken**** coaches to abandon their teams and be an overall jackass

Dell is an idiot. He's successful because he had great timing when starting his company, but ever since the late '90s, he hasn't hasn't had the same kind of success. Judging by the way he runs his company, he has a lack of foresight and imagination, and is out of touch with the needs of his customers.

On Apple, in 1997: "What would I do? I'd shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders."

I don't want an owner who would so easily write off an organization in a bad situation. The Dolphins are the 1997 Apple of the NFL. Michael Dell thought Apple should have been dissolved. Today Apple is kicking his company's ***.

    No thanks to Michael Dell.

Dell implemented the BTO PC/laptop business model, it wasn't strictly luck.

he does sound like a jackass though

    Hear Hear!

Short sighted, pompous, man...I hope not....

If Wayne H is the understanding rich uncle, Dell is the rich young guy in the convertible who is used to having things his way...now.

Plus these "new" money owners are disasters, Snyder in DC, Allen in Seattle...

Yeah, he had a great idea for a business model, but he came along at the right time.

I don't want an owner who looks at a rebuilding project and wants to disband it.

Hmmm....one interesting tidbit about the article....

He stated we would be open to bringing in a minoroty owner and allowing them to take over the Phins gradually....possibly making it possible for someone with not quite as deep as pockets to step in....

I think Wayne would like to keep Miami "in the South Florida" family...he obviously cares much for the organization..

Might he make it possible for a Marino led group to buy the team...

I could buy the team with the home equity line of credit on my house. I then could make payments of over 200 million per year from my income from the Dolphins. I wonder if he would go for that? I've got about 30,000 left on the HELOC. What do you think? Should I call a lawyer to write a written proposal? :ffic::up::thumbup::hi5:

Thanks Desides, you make valid points, in regards to his attitude.

I dont think we can question the business model of a multi billionaire though. Regardless of timing, it still required an advanced business sense to grow his empire to its current state. So he doesnt want to compete with Apple, big deal. He is focusing on computers alone. Sure Apple will kick butt with the iphone, ipod, etc.

huizenga should have put a retractable roof on phins stadium :)

i would go to more 1:00 games if it wasn't 100 degrees, and so hot that you buy a cold beer and it's hot within 5 minutes...

i've always thought that september advantage cuz of the heat was bs, i mean i realize it exists, but i do with we played in a dome type stadium with the stands closer to the field and no baseball team in there

Were did people come up with Dell buying the dolphins. It was Steve Ross, Dell was just mentioned at the end that he is paying Ross a lot of money for some apartment deal and that was the reason Ross could come up with the money for the down payment.

The Austin Dolphins? How about the Round Rock Dolphins? It would make it easier for me to see some more games every year.

I think it was meant as a joke. I sure know I was joking. As a season ticket holder living in ATL, the commute down to FL is far enough, I'd hate to have to fly into S.A. or Austin 8 times a year.

Seattle is the enjoying the most success in franchise history. They made it to the Super Bowl two years ago.

Only after Holmgren was stripped of GM duties and Whitset (allen's guy and a sort of overseer of the Sonics and Seahawks, was fired).

Actually it wasn't a typo....I was referring to San Antonio (again, was just a joke in response to Tx). I personally don't believe that L.A. deserves another team. They have had the Chargers, they had the Rams and they had the Raiders. They couldn't manage to keep any of them in what should be a strong market......no need to waste another franchise on them.

Him and almost every stockbroker at the time. Apple was a company in disaster unable to compete with Microsoft or the new generation PCs at the time. So you cant really judge him for his lack of foresight, I mean, everyone thought Apple was going to tank. It was the IMac that brought them back, IPod just made them sexier.

Gad, I'm just thinking where I would be financially minus Apple. I began loading up on their stock just at the time Dell thought the company should be shut down. I think my first investment was slightly above $12 per share.

Wasn't exactly gambling to forecast that Steve Jobs, once he returned, would have more foresight and creativity than the PC clods. I posted that on many sites, including as recently as a year or two ago, before the stock soared again. You wouldn't believe how many naysayers there were on message board after message board.

I don't know much about Michael Dell but if he embraces that type of inept handicapping, we need to hope Huizenga avoids him.

    Dell Stadium?

    Pad,
How is Allen a disaster, they've been to a superbowl, been a consistent playoff team, have spent money in free agency and built a stadium? I'd love to have such a disaster here in Miami.
