Didn't fisher decide on which pasture was greener?...Ross did everything but suck his ***k. Luckily, he still has Ireland for that.
RG3 will not be the answer either, and I truely believe that one of those QB's that we can get a little later down the line, can be groomed just as easily, with 3/4 years behing Peyton, you cannot go wrong. So I do disagree with you.
The pasture was greener bc Ross didn't want to bend over and give Fisher GM control, which imo was a very good decision.
Now NFL fans on other forums are all on the "Get Peyton Manning at all costs" bandwagon. I hope Peyton makes a good decision, and picks the Phins, and soon.
I don't know if signing manning AND drafting a qb in the first is the best order of business... Personally I'd rather have Flynn because of his youth and knowledge of our system... Then you don't have to draft a qb to take over in the next 3-5 years... I also consider it highly doubtful that Ireland and Ross would be fine with going out, grabbing manning and pumping our first round pick this year into the second but probably third QB spot on our team... Wish all you guys want but drafting a qb next year at the end of the first ( cause we are going to the playoffs ) seems like a brighter idea
Not exactly. Hank Goldberg reported on the Big (Zer)O Show that Ross completely disrespected Fisher by not calling him back. Couldn't find a link, their site is a maze at best.
For a team that's made the playoffs once in the past 12 or so years? We are no longer satisfied with a Peyton Manning, and competing for JUST ONLY the next 2-4 seasons? Wow. Don't know where you get such faith out of Flynn or Moore or whoever else. Who else is there? Tanny, RG3, Luck all will probably be gone. But nah, Manning... What about the 2019 season??? We are in what exactly, for the long term? More mediocrity and hopes on AJ Feely types working out as our franchise?
People who put words in other people's mouths are the same who struggle to make a valid point on their own.
Really? i watched the joy that season brought to my partner's face as she watched her Vikings have an incredible season.....It does nothing more than to renew the faith of the fanbase and bring happiness to our homes on sunday's (monday mornings) And are you saying that you would discount all of Marino's years because he never won a super bowl?
Bro, it comes down to this: Manning has maybe two and a BIGGER maybe 3 season's left. One of those seasons is going to be taken up with a lot of time to familiarize himself with the personnel. Will we win more games with him than last year? DAMN good chance. It's almost a given -even without him - given our schedule and a better offensive scheme. Then what? There are rumors that Manning already is slated for another surgery to remove spurs around his neck. I don't have the site, but I've read it in numerous places. On top of that, Philbin will have to alter HIS offense to cater to what MANNING wants to do for, maybe, two years. And after he is gone, actually start all over again putting in HIS offense and build the TEAM around it. One player is not bigger than a team and it's future. Is there someone out there better for this team RIGHT NOW? Maybe, maybe not. But a 36 year old QB who will insist on going by his rules, with a bad neck, and big contract COULD set us back again. And we could find ourselves in search of THE guy for another decade. The POSSIBLE award does not outweigh the risk. There is no way to convince me otherwise.
And I experienced the joy Marino brought to Miami for damn near 17 seasons. But the bitter disappointment of no SB because too many other key pieces were missing. It probably wasn't fun to watch Baltimore wina SB with Dilfer, but they won it. I want a championship. Not fun - then disappointment.
You forgot... its also going to satisfy the idiot owner who just wants to put people in the seats. I hope we dont do the wrong thing, for the sake of selling tickets.
What in Tannenhill makes you think he will develop into a guy who can lead an NFL team? I'm seriously asking because I just can't see it. What I see is an athletic guy who really hasn't shown anything that would lead me to believe he has the ability to play starting QB in the NFL. I see a guy who if Barkley is in this draft doesn't see the first round (Maybe the Browns second pick. MAYBE) let alone the top ten. I see a product of people wanting to believe there is a QB on the board that will fit for us. Most of all I see a guy who needs to sit a minimum of three seasons. These guys that suddenly jump up the draft board at QB usually don't pan out.
A hell of alot closer then anything we have done as of late.....unless you..enjoyed the suck for Luck campaign.
Why do people think that Manning can not run Philbin's offense? He has been called the smartest QB of all time for a reason and all of a sudden people are forgetting that. He can run any offense ever.
No it's better to draft an unheralded FA career backup and hope he becomes an elite QB. Much better than taking a chance on a healing Manning that has a lot left to prove.. Yup...
They actually lost to the eventual Super Bowl champs because the gunslinger did what he did since he was a rookie , have a propensity to throw an interception , which isn't the trait of Peyton Manning is it?
All it takes is one good throwing session in front of Ireland and he'll have a contract in front of him. Let's see... Risk 1. Skip drafting the #3 QB this year since we have a quality backup in Matt Moore 2. New offense in Miami has to adapt to Manning before it even gets installed Reward 1. Elite QB play if healthy 2. Spend #8 draft pick on another need 3. Extensive football IQ 4. Practice fanatic to help everyone on offense improve 5. Unquestioned Leader... Hall of Fame lock + Super Bowl ring 6. Offense will be motivated to bring A game, including Marshall 7. Better offensive drives = more rest for defense 8. Filled Sun Lie Stadium, helps home advantage 9. May help Dolphins attract more Free Agent interest 10. Manning, who is arguably the most studious / hard practicing QB in history, personally motivated to prove the Colts wrong for kicking him to the curb... Priceless Yes, I hope we get 2-3 years from Manning, and then happily see him and Brady off to retirement. I could care less about setting the franchise back a year when we haven't won a Superbowl in almost 40 years , let along been to one in almost 30 years.
Because, his pursuit of Manning is simply to boost interest in the team, and get people into the big orange sea of empty seats. He's meddling where he doesn't belong more than likely in his pursuit of Peyton if that's what he chooses to do. If he's just out to sign him, just to put people in the stands, and because its a great PR move, then yes, he indeed is an idiot. If we put Manning through incredibly rigorous tests on and off the field to check his health... then fine. I'm good with it. We better be drafting a qb to develop behind him. Either way, I still don't like it. you hired Philbin because of the offensive system he brings. Now you're going to hire a QB, who's essentially going to dictate the offense the coach is going to run. It's a bit backwards. I still think our actual target is Flynn, unless Mannings health, and current abilities, and his prognosis for continuing to improve between now is incredibly good. Wow, thank's for that insightful comment. I assume you'll follow this up with "Youre welcome" So, hopefully I've saved you the time.
